Gunther is adorable!
Jon Solo would you do la llorona? Or the boy who cried wolf?
Wow these stories were amazing!!
Jon Solo I am BEGGING you to read Bodacious Doggo's comment 🤣
@HolsappleArt Studios That sounds like a good idea, give an artist his script and map out the things he wants to be illustrated before his time of upload

There's an Armenian version of this that's similar but its called "the armless girl" :
The story is about The girl, her brother, and his wife. The wife was jealous of her husbands sister because she was young and beautiful and the brother would gift her flowers every day. (I think The wife and husband also had a newborn baby but idk when he came in the picture he just was given birth to at some point lol). So the jealous wife would try to make the sister look bad like she would break expensive plates and blame the girl, or let their horses run free, and some other stuff and would blame the girl for everything but the brother each time would say "its ok we can buy all those things again but I only have one sister so as long as shes safe its ok." So jealous wife thought shed do something so bad that the husband cant look away from which was killing their newborn baby. So she got a knife killed her own baby and put the knife in one of the girl's coat pockets. She then started wailing which wakes everyone in the house and they see the dead baby. The wife points out that they should search all the clothes in the house for a weapon (or something like that?) and they find the knife in girl's coat pocket. The next day the whole village decides to punish her by chopping off her arms, stripping her naked and leaving her in the forest to fend for herself. The girls brother wasn't happy about this but he was devastated that his baby was killed.
So the girl is not fending for herself trying to survive and hides inside a hollow tree to keep herself from being bit by the flies and bugs. At the same time, the prince of a nearby kingdom was hunting with his hunting dogs and the dogs stop to smell and growl at the tree the girl was hiding in, the prince notices this and orders whoever is hiding to reveal themselves. The girl, scared, gets out and the prince falls in love instantly. He takes her with him to his kingdom and presents her to his parents and has decided to marry her. His parents were happy by how beautiful she was so they get married and the girl was living a good life and she was now pregnant with their baby. The prince had to leave for some reason for some duties before his wife gave birth to their baby. He had to go to the village that the girl was from for some reason I cannot remember why but stayed as a guest in the girls old house.
He gets a letter from his parents that his wife has given birth to a beautiful baby boy with golden hair and are excited for him to return. The wife (of the girls brother) reads this letter before him and realizes that the princes wife is her husbands sister. So she writes a a letter that says "Your wife gave birth to a monster" and gave it to the prince. The prince who loved his wife, wrote a letter back saying he doesnt care what the baby looks like as long as it is healthy. When he gave the letter to the jealous wife for her to send the letter back to whoever it needs to go to (idk what postmail they had lol), she reads his letter in secret and writes a new one that says how disappointed he is and to cast his wife and the baby away from the kingdom. When the king and queen got the letter they were saddened but did as they were told. They tied the baby around the girls torso and with tears bid her farewell. The girl once again alone now with a baby tried to survive the best she can. At some point she got thirsty and pound a well she can drink from. When she bent down to try to get a sip the harness around the baby got loose and the baby fell in the water. The girl was panicking and crying and didnt know what to do. However, a stranger in a cloak came by and asked her what happened. When she explained the stranger told her to not worry and reach and grab for her baby. She with some hesitation did and suddenly she had her arms back and she was able to save her baby. When she looked back to thank the stranger, they were gone.
When the prince came back home he learned of the letters and went out to find his wife. Around this time the girls brother was regretting what he has done to his sister so he (and his reluctant wife) went to find her. Years go by and at some point the prince and the brother/wife end up in an inn to rest. The prince and the brother strike up a conversation about what they are both doing and find out they are both trying to find someone they lost. When the innkeeper came by to ask what they would like to eat, the prince/bro asked her (who was hiding her face behind some cloth or something) if they have seen an armless girl. She said she will tell them if they first listen to her story. So she basically start telling her story about her brothers jealous wife who kept blaming her for things she hasnt done and how she ends up marrying a prince and having a baby boy. The jealous wife through out the innkeepers story realizes who she is and keeps trying to stop her from talking but fails each time. In the end the brother and the prince realize the innkeeper is the person they were both looking for and are finally happily reunited. And they punish the brother's wife with death for the crimes she has done. The end.
Sorry this is like super long. There were some details i might have forgotten or kinda just condensed but I hope whoever reads this finds it interesting!
Also the story was written by Hovhannes Tumanyan. I know of this story because my family has a old big book with a bunch of his stories in it.

“And maybe worst, Messing with somebody’s mail!”
United States, August 2020:
Oof that joke did not age well...
Hi Jon & everyone, I was wondering if anyone had ever heard of a story called The Five Chinese Brothers? My mother use to tell it to me as a child. It was about (obviously) 5 Chinese brothers that each had a special gift. One could hold his breath forever, one couldn't be burned and so on. They all take turns saving one brother from being killed in different ways. I was wondering if there might be a messed up origin for this story. I would love to hear it if you find anything. Thank you!
I read that one when I was a kid. All were identical. One of them was sentenced do death for some reason and he convinced the ruler to give him time to go home and say farewell to his family. He then sent the brother that would survive the execution method in his place.
Each time went the same: one of the brothers would turn up, execution would be attempted and fail then the execution would be rescheduled for the following day with a different method, the "convict" would return home to say farewell to their family "for realsies this time" and the next day a different brother with the relevant special gift would show up to face the executioner. After the 5th attempt, the guy was pardoned - which is just as well, I guess.
Oh I remember my dad telling this to me
can't recall hearing that story but I'm really intrigued =O wish this could get covered / told somehow =]
That was my favorite story when I was younger

“And don’t do Drugs...... Until your frontal lobe is developed.” 😩 I can’t be the only one who thought that sentence was headed in another direction 😂🤷🏽♀️

My mother used to tell me a folk tale that seems to be a combination of "The girl with no hands" and "Cinderella".
It starts with a girl named Coumba. Her mother passed away. Before she dies, she gives Coumba a golden bangle she wore during her wedding to Coumba' s father. Later, the father remarried to a widow who has two daughters. (Clearly you see the Cinderella reference). After a year, the father dies. Now Coumba is all alone with her step mother and two step sisters. They took everything she has and makes her work all day. One day, the younger step sister tells Coumba to give her the golden bangle. Coumba refuses sating it's the only thing she has left of her mother. They did not care. They tried to force the bangles off her, but it was too tight because her hands were so small and fragile. The step mother has the idea go use an axe to cut the bangle off Coumba and send it to a smith to fix. Obviously, she accidentally cuts Coumba hand off. Coumba jumps in pain and runs into the woods. By the time she stopped running she was deep in the woods and didn't know where she was. She starts getting dizzy as she is about to pass out. All of a sudden she hears a voice that tells her to find the biggest tree with a hole and put her hand there until the next moring. Coumba does just that. A few moments later, she passes out. When she woke up, she is surprised to have her hands back, but this time they are golden.
Coumba then walks through the woods until she gets out the other side. She realizes she is at the kings castle. There, a subject announced that the Prince is looking for a wife. All the women gather up there including her two step sisters.
Coumba walks into the castle with the rest of the women, but not to try and impress the Prince. She wanted to get some of the free food. The women start complaining as the prince hasn't shown up yet. When Coumba tries to get some food to eat, the servers denys her food because she's in dirty rags. They kick her out and throw a half rotten apple at her to eat.
In the streets, Coumba sits on the floor about to ear, when a elder lady comes begging her for food. Coumba gives her the apple. Once the lady walks away, Coumba starts to cry. A man comes and ask her why she is crying and Coumba explains everything. When she looks up its the prince. The prince ask her to marry him. They get married and live happily ever after.
Oh and they had a son who was born a golden lion...I don't know where that came from, but it was part of the ending lol.
Wow, what an Interesting story.
TY for the interesting story.
now that story is the shit!!!!! loved it!! Karma!!

“The Girl Without Hands” was actually my favourite of the Grimm’s Brothers book when I was growing up because she persevered through everything without complaint.
I remember a story by H.C. Andersen which I read as a kid. About a girl that stepped on bread and went to hell. I was shook by it and until now cant forget it. Would be wonderful if you could cover it with background and analysis. I enjoy your work very much keep up doing it.
