Its been a long time since he's been able to go shopping, or that we've even been able to go out together as a family at all. But back in the day? We NEVER heard anyone's name come out his mouth when we were out - No matter how close or far away he was, you were gonna get The Dad Whistle!! Aw man, my son and I used to laugh about that so much, not only because you ALWAYS knew who it was no matter what, but also because it griped my mom no end 😂 And here I had completely forgotten about it! @@Vl0gWithAb yeah I would have heard it by now. From other dads. I think it’s a Californian thing.
OMG, you unlocked a forgotten memory TYSM!!! My dad is now in his 70s, completely disabled, and struggling with dementia. My son is grown now, and together with my brother, we are my dad's caregivers so that he can stay in his home. Its not easy though, especially watching such a once proud man feel so much smaller, and lose little bits of his mind at a time too. I shared this with my son just now and we had a nice chuckle again remembering this together. Thanks again 💗
I yell "Carl" from the walking dead like fool really loud and my kids yell it back and come running 😂
I'm white and every time my dad got separated he would always do this LOUD ASS whistle that could be heard across the entire Costco warehouse
My family does a little bird sound
my dad just texts me where im at an ill tell him an he just go "alright bud be back at the house in a few" he doesn't even come get me......well probably because we know where we going
Smh 🤦♂️ white people trying to be funny it’s cringey

My husband and I used to do that for each other. He's been gone many years now and I still find myself about to whistle for whom ever I'm with.
That was us in the toy aisle😂 I'm not Mexican but my mom's boyfriend was and we knew like Pavlov dogs that when we heard that whistle...something made us panic and run toward the sound. Even our friends would be like.. "I think I hear your dad" and we just dropped our shit and ran the 2 blocks home.
"If you can't hear this shit you've gone too far" 😂
I’m Dominican and my family does this it looks funny but it works so dang well 😂
Make a video about it. Afrolatinos have nothing to do with Mexicans
😂😂😂 i remember the homies would do that outside of class for us to come out!😂
My best friend in high school used to do this...😂...I'd come running and then give him hell, saying I wasn't his pup...aww I miss those days ❤❤❤
My dad for sure had a whistle that we all recognize when he wanted all of us to come to him😂
We ain't Mexican but my dad would whistle to find and/or to call us home, you could hear it three blocks away.
Same but even our dogs came to him
Facts
I'm a mom and grandma...and I can relate to this. Mine know that if they don't want to get embarrassed...DO NOT walk off in the store....I will call out to them like we are in the woods and won't care WHO else is around...LOL
I'm dying of laughter. This is SO true! Like, everyone automatically responds by heading towards the whistle.
This is so unbelievably true. The family whistle is something that I have been conditioned to respond to since I was a little kid and I definitely feel like I hear it when i'm nowhere near my family.
I’m Anglo, but my dad has a very recognizable call that he would use to get our attention. This brought back so many memories.
My husband does this. He whistles as he walks down the isles to find me. I hear it getting closer and closer and I stay put but if I hear it going farther away, I jump out to get him 😂
My mom carried her keys in her hand. I could hear them across the store and could always tell if it was her or not by the way she shook them. 😂❤
