Hi Dill, totally agree with you; Fuji, after years of shooting Nikon, has made me rediscover the pleasure of photography. Shooting with the XT2 now; will probably upgrade to the XT3. Why did you upgrade to the XH1? Because of the IBIS? The XH1 is older, but still a viable alternative for me. Next holiday, I'll bring my trusted 18-55 (or the 18-135, if I buy that one; still undecided) and the 10-24 which I bought couple of months ago.
@@matthewstorerphotography Thanks, I'll ponder that some more... BTW, not owning the 18-135 (yet) the "you can only keep one lens" question I would answer with the 18-55. I have checked that while I'm travelling, over 80% of my photo's fall in that focal range. It's no match against the 16mm 1.4, but still, an extremely useful lens. And stabilized for video...
100% i would say the 18-135 has a pro of being more zoomed but a downfall of being not as sharp. Both amazing lens for video, travel and all around lens.
I travelled for seven weeks in the US and Canada last year with my Fujifilm X-T3 and XF 18-135mm and XF 23mm F2 lenses. The 18-135 was stuck to my Camera at least 80% of the time. Worked well for me.
Hey Dan, Can totally understand would have been a perfect focal range for the multiple different scenes thats the US and Canada have to offer! Lovely lens
Someone once told me that if people check the corner sharpness of your images, then those images are not worth look at anyway. That being said, I use the XF 18-135mm and it's pretty much glued to my camera. Even if it's not perfect at the very wide angle or the very telephoto end, the center sharpness is always excellent and when you keep it between 30mm and 100mm you get good corner shaprness as well, stop it down for even better results. The OIS is superior to anything I've used in the past.
Totally agree. Even on my smallish X-T20 (with grip), it handles fine--and the focal length range (27mm-203mm) is outstanding for us "lazy photographers" who don't like to change lenses every time we see a new shot coming during travel. I'll say that the XC (plastic-bodied) 16-50 is underrated (as is its brother, the 50-230) and excellent for travel because it's so light--but the 18-135 is the one. Even without a gun to my head!
I have never used the XC lenses but I could imagine they are great due to being so lightweight. But as you said the 18-135 and also the 18-55 are great lenses for me. Do you have any interest for thr newer 16-80mm?
@@matthewstorerphotography Hmm, 16-80 at a constant f/4, nice range with some speed too. If the price is right, it could replace the venerable 18-55 as a great all-around travel lens for many people, with a little more width plus a useful boost at the tele end to 120mm equivalent. But you have a couple of classic lenses already! Since I don't own the 18-55 yet, I would consider the 16-80 if it's not too expensive...
Yeah that is super true. I would love it for a film lens. Big issue for me would be sharpness for price range. I own the 18-55 and 16-55. The kit lens is crazy good for filmimg but nowhere near as sharp. If the 16-80 is fairly sharp it could replace both lenses for me having IS also.
@@matthewstorerphotography Oh! I didn't think of the filming aspect. Yeah, let's hope it's sharp enough to meet your needs. That would make it a grand slam for Fuji, a hit with both still and video photogs.
The gun-point lens I choose would be a Fujifilm XF 55-200mm because I always shoot street photography from the back of my motorbike (in Vietnam). This circumstance always puts some distance between me and subjects. Therefore, I prefer to have the reach more than anything. And the 55-200mm is perfect for that.
@@matthewstorerphotography Thank you! xD I love your story, too! I watched many of your videos on landscape tips even though I don't even shoot landscape.
I would choose my 18-135 for sure but just as an aside I take two fuji cameras at times one with the 18-55 and the other with the underrated 50-230 wich together gives me an 18-230 range (27-350 approx ) equivalent. No bag no other lenses--just my xt1 and xe2 and those two light weight lenses. Works great with one shoulder strap and regular strap.
Just picked this up, based in part on your review...I plan on doing some traveling, Faroe Islands, Scotland for example .. Bang for the buck this lens is coming with me. Currently, I own 23 f1.4, 35 f2 and the 18-55 Kit lens... The price paid 524.00 USD excellent cond...will leave the 18-55 home and bring my XH-1 and Ex2s. This should be enough for my needs. May grab the 8-16 if I can grab at good price. Thanks again for your review!
Awesome! Some epic locations coming soon for you to shoot! No problem really glad I could help you make a decision now just need to get out there and take some epic photos!
Maybe not the greatest travel lens but if I could only have one Fuji lens it would probably be the 16mm f1.4. It is a strangely versatile lens; pseudo macro, ridiculously close focus, unbelievably sharp. It's good for street photos, landscapes, and because of it's close focus, if you don't mind getting in your subject's face, it can actually do a good job at portraits. I love the 18-55. I've traveled with it and the 55-200. That's a great pairing.
Thats true, if I was to do a new travel lens it would be the 16-80mm. Much better focus and sharpness throughout the entire range. Or maybe the Tamron lens
When I was a Canon shooter I always had the Tamron 18-400mm on my 77D because it was so versatile and I only shot landscapes. Now, I am on the Fuji system (X-T3 & X-T30) and the lenses I carry with me are the 18-55mm, 55-200mm, and 16mm f1.4,. I am looking to see if the 18-135mm will help eliminate having to carry so many lenses when i’m on my hikes.
I have the 16-55 my self, and because it's wider and I don't use superzoom that much, I'd go for that one. But if you do like to zoom, the 18-135 just makes sense. But thinking further, if you want to go compact and light, the Panasonic GX9 and 14-140mm also makes a lot of sense, but if you want just one system, not.
Hahaha so many choices. I agree for Fuji the 18-135 is a great lens, but i notice it miss focus and also very soft at the 90+mm focal range. Which i totally expect because of such a large zoom range. But its what suits your needs :D
Honestly, I would choose the 50mm f1. I would choose that one because it lets in a ton of light, has weather sealing and good subject isolation. Right before Christmas I “discovered” how awesome it is to take photos in dark (and preferably foggy conditions) and the 50mm let’s me get shutter speeds fast enough to freeze cars in pretty dark conditions. Which I can’t with any of the other lenses I have. Other than the Laowa 33mm 0.95 maybe, but that one is weather sealed and it actually does not let in ad much light as the 50mm. So that’s why I would shoes the 50mm. It’s very flexible for a fixed focal length lens.
Spot on Mr S. it is my go to lens. Having done years of travel with Panasonic LUMIX LX series cameras with 24 to about 85mm equivalent focal lengths, the 200mm equivalent of the 18 - 135mm provides so much more versatility. I don’t like the continual connotation of “kit lens”. XC lenses are kit lenses and XF lenses are the premium. I cannot fault the imagery of my XF 18 - 55mm or XF 18 - 135mm and both as you say are stabilised. Good advice for newcomers to the fab Fuji X system. Thanks.
Couldnt have said it better myself. I also hate using them or calling them kits lenses. But also tells you all about the quaility of Fuji's lens line up if this is called a kit lens haha. But agree perfect go to or starter lens package. Interested to see the new 16-80mm think I will buy it straight away.
I'd want to keep the 100-400 + 1.4 TC, because then I can sell it for a decent price and get two or three or four other lenses second hand to replace the ones that were stolen from me
Nope. I will replace the 18-135mm straight away with the 16-80mm would just love that little wider and also the constant f4 all the way through. Also I am always looking for better image quaility and this HAS to be. Its fuji we are talking about in 2019. They will deliver the good right?? Haha
LOL, it’s the only Fuji lens I ever sold. Due to the versatility, I kept using it. Felt like I only had one lens, but I have many. It was causing me to neglect the others. I sold it to force myself to carry more lenses and change lenses and get sharper images, or faster f-stop, at expense of convenience, and benefit of better images (usually, not always).
cant do astro but what about being on a tracker 😥😥 ive just pick up my 1st fuji xt1 but ive not got any lens apart from an old manual focus vivitar 2,8 35mm
Don't scratch the metaphor too much. it will bleed and leave a scar. Having used a full stable of carefully selected Nikkor glass via a Fringer, and explorations with the Tamron 18-300, this is now my stock choice. See, I lived and shot through the bad old days of OEM and third party zooms in the 70s. None at any price point could really hold a candle to even some of the kit zooms of today. Tech has changed, and pixel peepers with their IQ charts really need to get real. This is a great lens for many purposes. Want macro? get a set of Vello rings. Want more tele? Zoom and crop from RAW. Buy it.
Just found your video. I'm about to buy my first Fuji body - probably XS10 or XT30. I'm looking for one travel/landscape lens and you may well have confirmed what I was thinking about re having just one lens. Really helpful.
Late to the Party here: my all around PERFECT event setup: Fuji XT-5 with an 18mm f1.4, this 18-135mm, and a Fuji 50mm f1.4 LM WR. 18 gets me unique perspectives; zoom gets me all around the venue ala laziness; a hypothetical 50mm gets me bokeh, color, and contrast in a tight package. The 50mm f1.0 Frankenlens is too much; the 50mm f2.0 isn’t there; and the 56mm f1.2 is overkill.
Did you ever get your hands on the 16-80? Keen to hear your thoughts vs the 18-135. 2 mm more wide end, 55 mm less long end, 50g lighter, and a fair bit more expensive right now.
Hey Jed, never did, wasn't interested in the initial reviews of the lens and didn't seem interesting enough to me to upgrade, well move sideways. Wider yes, but to me no real upgrade, just a down ground my bank account. 18-55mm seems just as good for a fraction of the price!
@@matthewstorerphotography good points, I also noticed that reviews were mixed. Might keep trying to snag a 18-135 for a decent price, or give the 18-55 a go. Or the 16-50 for the weight savings.
Just purchased this lens used from b&h and just having the hardest time getting sharp images. Thinking of returning it... I just am unsure if it’s something I’m doing wrong or the lens is faulty. Most images are blurry when zoomed into the focus point....
I miss my Olympus 12-100 F4 for basically the reasons you stated. Although it was exceptionally sharp the whole way through. Good to hear your thoughts on this lens. Kinda gets a bad wrap.
When I was shooting Olympus I found the 12-100 f4 most versatile. I did buy the Fuji 10-24mm recently when I swapped to Fuji system it was a bad copy not sharp at all, I sent it back. Now looking for something else.
What I don't get is everyone goes on about soft in the corners, all lenses are softer in the corners to varying degrees. Also if you are looking in the corner of the photo, then the image isn't that compelling.
Well, the story begins with the time I had my first camera, it was canon 70d with a 18-135 kit lens. It was a nice combo for the first kit, I took it everywhere without a hesitation. But time went by and I wanted something better, so when I had a chance, I swapped it to 6d and bought a couple of L lenses(24-105 and 70-200). All that to realise that while it's perfect to have in a bag for photo trips, but I'll not take both of those lenses for a climb on Elbrus or for other week long treks. So back I went, bought x-t2 this time and 18-135 as my first lense..I'll probably buy 10-24 when I'll get rid off what I've left from canon. Funny it sounds, but I actually bought crop sensor camera just to be able to use this focal range on one smaller lense instead of 2 big L glasses, which covers just a couple millimeters more. It's far from perfect, but at least I'll have it when I need and it is weather resistant, which I'm very happy about. So I couldn't agree more on your words about it being the best as first lense in the bag. For someone who shoots landscape and is out for a hike or climb or travel a lot anyway. Cheers!
Yeah that is true, its not perfect but perfect lens to have to do everything. If it was a constant 2.8 and same focal range and size it would ve near on perfect haha. But that would never happen
Hi Matthew, thanks for your great review! I have got a 18-55mm for years, and looking for more reach to shoot for landscape during trekking. I will only bring 1 lense for travel, shall I choose to buy 16-80 or 18-135? Thanks a lot for your advice!
I have a 18-135mm from Canon, as my standard travel lens (for 7 years now). But I plan to swap it for the 24 -105mm L because it's sharper. I do combine it with the 11-16mm Tokina and a 135 - 400mm Sigma if there is wildlife around!!!
Ahh that 24-105mm is amazing I used to own that when I had Canon system! You using it on a full frame camera?? You have a great range of focal ranges throughout.
Hi. I'm just thinking about getting myself such a lens. But the alternative stops me. New Tamron 18-300mm. It would be great to compare them in the range of 18-135. They have a similar price. They have approximately the same aperture in the range of 18-135. But the tamron looks much more interesting. It just has an unrealistically short minimum focus, only 15sm. It has more telerange.
I could imagine! Is that the 2.8 version or just 4? I would love to use a nikon. Always make jokes about them but they have some seriously good cameras for Landscape photography
I'm personally waiting for the 16-80mm. Currently I'm walking around with the 56mm1.2 and the 23mm. I hate the weight of the 56mm but in low light it's a killer. I'm thinking about getting the 35mm1.4 instead to pair with the 16-80.
Me too. I will pre order it for sure. I assume the image quaility and auto focus will be top notch. Then I will use that for my video work. I think it was fujis real big down full in lens in mid range. Hopefully this clears that up. But the primes must be sooo sharp :)
@@matthewstorerphotography I love the primes. I'm a sucker for them. But changing lenses gets old pretty quick. And my 16-55mm is amazing for studio but the weight is definitely an issue when travelling. I'll see how heavy the 16-80 turns out to be and then I'll be able to decide.
Ahh you have the 16-55mm. Is it super sharp? This are the two lenses I will decide between when it comes to that point. Interesting to hear you will look at the 16-80. Main reason?
@@matthewstorerphotography yeah, I use it in studio cause I don't need shallow depth of field in controlled environments... I'd rather have the whole face in focus. The main reason I'll look into the 16-80 is because the 16-55 is too heavy to carry around. And it doesn't have OIS which is a pity. I've looked into the 18-55 but it doesn't have WR which puts me on the fence... But at the same time it's so light... I believe the 16-80 will be the best of all worlds (for travel). I'm really looking forward to testing it.
Hi! Thanks for the video. Currently I have the 35mm F2 with the XT3. Would you recommend the the 18-135 or 16-80 to be my next lens? Been wanting to explore more of macroish and landscape shots.
Mhmm hard question to answer this one, depends how much image sharpness and video plays a role in your photography. If you do video work I would probably stick with the constant f/4 16-80mm, but if just photography the 18-135 is a beautiful lens which I highly recommend! Not as sharp, but has an amazing focal range throughout.
As a Canon shooter i would keep a 24-105mm to maintain some versatility but only after if I failed to convince my assailant to take my wife and leave me with all my lenses ;)
HAHAHAHAHAHA AND THE WINNER IS... great response well until she reads it and finds out lol. That is hilarious. Yeah I think that is a great choice it could do everything you need.
Matt, small lens 3.5 to 5.6 (thats a drawback) Would have liked a constant 2.8 but for the cost the G7 and an extra lens plus a small monfretto tripod, spare battery plus tablet can fit in a small cross shoulder man bag so when lm out touring OS no one notices you have the camera gear. Just have to accept the few drawbacks with the MFT gear. Keep up the good work, l see the subscriptions are almost 4500!!! Regards Rob
To be completely honest for Fuji lenses these are not the sharpest in the tool shed. Of course the longer the focal range the less sharpness you will have at the high end and low end of the focal range. But the XC 50-230 would be worse than the 18-135. Its versatile and convenient thats why :) hope this helps a little
Best buy yet! Also it lightweight and a huge focal range. Get what lenses suit you not everyone else :D we all make the mistake of buying lenses that other people like :/ me included!
One lens? 23 1.4, or 14 2.8 for travel. Though I'm likely picking up this one soon to put on a second WR body (I have an older X-T1) for a WR versatile kit. I have trips to both Florida and Hawaii coming up and the chance for getting wet from rain or salt water, or dust/sand from wind is high. Still haven't decided if I want 16-80 or 18-135 though... Probably will get the 18-135 though, for more reach to my kit. My longest lens now is the 56mm 1.2. I could have 14 2.8 on one cam and the 18-135 on the other for travel. If I'm in a kayak though, I'd likely only grab the x-t1 and 18-135...not my non WR primes.
Nice video. I have an x100f but I’m looking to get an interchangeable lens camera but haven’t really decided what type of lens I should get. Looking forward to future lens reviews and you reasons to choose or not choose a lens.
Awesome! Be really keen to help provide that information. Its a super hard decision to make and a big investment! If you have any questions a long the way please dont hesitate to contact me! :D
@@matthewstorerphotography Cheers mate, I sure will. Problem is there sooooo many fun cameras and lenses out there it's so hard to pick only one or two ;-)
Only one? With an x-h1? The 16-55 f2.8 Yes you don't have supertele, but I think I'd loose really more photos with the 18-135. Because of F3.5. Even 2.8 is a compromise.. But at least it isn't so bad.. I don't own it to be onest, I have the 18-55 2.8-4, because my fujifilm body doesn't have OIS. And the 18-55 is cheaper. And I use mainly primes.
Its a hard choice right espically with the huge amount of quality lenses that fujifilm produce! I havent used the 16-55 i am waiting for the 16-80 to get released. Then I will compared all my options - right now I am using the 18-55 but would like to look for upgrade in sharpness soon. What is your thoughts of the 16-55 2.8mm would you use it over the 18-55 if you could?
I won't use it beacuse it's too heavy, and it don't has OIS, and because I use the 18-55 when it isn't too dark. When it's dark I use only primes, better to loose 30 seconds to change lens than using too high iso, and having less sharpness. P.S. An idea of "only one lens" that I'd like is the x100f. 23mm f2, lightweight and poketable, you can have it always with you. To use when you go out without thinking you would need a camera 😊
Ahh yes too true. I have considered going with all primes. Better quaility an extras stops of light, but I am to used to zoomed lenses now. Perfect for my travel lifestyle. Very creative and really true best of both worlds, great camera, great lens super small lightweight and portable. Excellent thinking outside the box!!
I would stick with the 16-55 honestly. I will upgrade to the 16-80 when it comes out just due to image quality and constant apeture as I will use it mainly for filming! But the 16-55 is a lens i would love to try out one day. Hope the new lens is similar image quaility as it..
Got to agree with your general comments Matthew: super zooms are handy if you can only have one lens with you, I've used a couple in the past incl a Tamron 18-270 which I still have, but I've found that even at their sweet spot (f8 or wherever ?) and keeping away from their extremes of focal length, they don't deliver as sharp images as more conventional zooms of say x3 or so. The plus side is, as you say, they are versatile and let you get images that you wouldn't otherwise get unless you were carrying a bag full of other lenses.
Well, Gun to my head? My 100-400 so I would sell it and buy a few replacements.. On a good note. I just scored me a second hand 135 for less than half price new.! Winner, winner chicken dinner.
How is it for primary video shooting? I've just bought the x-h1 and ordered both the 18-55 and the 18-135 as second-hand lenses. Is the 18-55 range of the 135 lens comparable to the 18-55? I'm trying to decide which to keep. I shoot off-road overland 4x4 stuff so the weather resistance makes me feel a little better. Curious minds want to know?...guns to the head notwithstanding!
For primary video shooting its a little soft over 70mm and I was struggling to focus on many occasions zoomed out. Its great for versatile shooting but the 18-55mm is the go to filming lens for me! Its great throughout the whole focal range (some vignetting at 18mm 2.8) but the image stabilizer in both the lenses is great! I will always use the 18-55mm for just video shooting :D Feels great on the X-H1
16-55mm f2.8 sharp and constant f2.8 lens and don't want to change lenses often 🤣😉 and it's build like a tank I accidentally drop mine but still nothing chsnge just a little scratch 😂🤔
Yeah I can imagine. Looking to invest into that lenses as I have never heard a bad result about it which is awesome! Gear is made to be used, not to look pretty ;)

That would make it a grand slam for Fuji, a hit with both still and video photogs.
thinking about this or the 15-80, which would be a better choice? i just want a mid range zoom lense with decent wide angle
Mhmm for me I would always choose the 16-80mm every day of the week. Better quality in video and photo. Plus the 16mm for me is a real winner!
This is actually the lens I have been looking into : ) Thx for the review
No problem I really hope it helps you and tells you all you need to know!
That is amazing I love this story! :D
Yeah super nice choice
@@matthewstorerphotography BTW.... this a shot with this wonderful Lens flic.kr/p/2hCfSDS
@@matthewstorerphotography 18-300 or 17-70 ?
When I was a Canon shooter I always had the Tamron 18-400mm on my 77D because it was so versatile and I only shot landscapes. Now, I am on the Fuji system (X-T3 & X-T30) and the lenses I carry with me are the 18-55mm, 55-200mm, and 16mm f1.4,. I am looking to see if the 18-135mm will help eliminate having to carry so many lenses when i’m on my hikes.
This is what I find amazing with the 18-135. Hiking and exploring on day trips where weight is an issue. Almost perfect for situations like that
just buy a fringer adapter and use your 18-400mm. I ve got a Tamron 16-300. It works.
@@matthewstorerphotography for sharper images the 18-135 needs to be stopped down to F8 or F11, then it should be ok.
Man that is so cool! Never used the lens, or many of Fuji's prime lenses but heard many many good things about it!
Hi Matthew ! What about 16-80 ? What is better for travel and trekking ?
Yeah that is my go to lens nowdays!
Greece doesn't sound like a safe place.
My choices? 18-135 for outdoors and 16 1.4 for indoors/tight shots/low light
Thanks buddy - appreciate it!
Currently looking at this or the new Tamron 18-300 for an upcoming vacation. Less weight vs the extra 135-300?
I'd want to keep the 100-400 + 1.4 TC, because then I can sell it for a decent price and get two or three or four other lenses second hand to replace the ones that were stolen from me
That is a very good answer haha. Well thought out I love this ;D
What about the upcoming 16-80F4 lens if it gets nice IQ as 16-55? Will you still choose 18-135?
Yeah I done a very similar thing. Super important for me the image quaility :)
cant do astro but what about being on a tracker 😥😥 ive just pick up my 1st fuji xt1 but ive not got any lens apart from an old manual focus vivitar 2,8 35mm
Awesome mate - I would have a look at buying the X-S10 with the 16-80mm kit lens. For me it's the best opposition on today's market and a kiler price
I would personally look at the 16-80mm for me a little bit sharper and versatile with constant F4 :D
The one and only: XF 16-55 2.8. Versatile enough and you can use it for portraits and shooting in low light as well. The one to rule them all :-).
Yep use that lens a lot now days!
Only one...🤔 with my Canon apsc Body the Tamron 17-50 2,8 VC and with my 5dclassic (fullframe) 24-70 2,8 VC. Nice content here 👍🏻
Yeah typical classic lenses which you can not go past at all!! Totally agree :) good choices and thanks glad you enjoyed!
An xf a kitlens?? what about the xc serie, sounds kitlenses to me? Just ordered myself an second hand xf18-135 we will see
I think I would choose the 16-80mm lately
@@matthewstorerphotography could be, but i think 80 is to small most of the time, although the 16 is nice!
I miss my Olympus 12-100 F4 for basically the reasons you stated. Although it was exceptionally sharp the whole way through. Good to hear your thoughts on this lens. Kinda gets a bad wrap.
Yeah I totally agree. Because so many other people do not like it. Means they automatically do not like it either. Super weird
When I was shooting Olympus I found the 12-100 f4 most versatile. I did buy the Fuji 10-24mm recently when I swapped to Fuji system it was a bad copy not sharp at all, I sent it back. Now looking for something else.
For hiking i always bring fuji 10-24 with me, such a versatile lens for landscapes.
I am waiting for the 16-80mm f4 I think that will be my new one only lens that I need!
G'day Matthew. Thanks for the review. I am switching to Fuji and intend to travel light. This seems like a good one to start with.
Yep, or the newer 16-80mm is a great lens
Super late on this but I'd go with the Fuji 18-55 and XS10 for the size/versatility for travel, family, and some low light.
Hi, I wanna talk to you, can it be possible anyway? I am really excited and confused about fuji.
How can I help you? please email me at matthewstorerphotography@hotmail.com and we can talk there
Hi Matthew, thanks for your great review! I have got a 18-55mm for years, and looking for more reach to shoot for landscape during trekking. I will only bring 1 lense for travel, shall I choose to buy 16-80 or 18-135? Thanks a lot for your advice!
I’m wondering the same, im actually looking at both and can’t choose, going on a trip next month
@@matthewstorerphotography I will use it on my 50D, but I want to upgrade that one aswell. But can't buy it all at once, want to travel aswell☺
Yeah totally understand that!! Does the new EOS R interest you at all?
@@matthewstorerphotography I have been looking at it, but I will wait for the next model. Till that time I will upgrade my lenses!!
I will choose 18 135 as the only lens to travel with. Unless someone wants carry 3 lenses.
I agree.
Exactly. Perfect little lens to stick on the front and leave for general everyday use
I sold this one about a year ago and missed it so much. I just bought another one. Can’t wait till it gets here. Not sure what was I thinking.
Hahahhaha isnt this the worse when you do this with lenses :(
i currently have a fifty and thinking about this or the 15-80, which would be a better choice? i just want a mid zoom lense with decent wide angle
18-135 or 16-80?
16-80 covers you in traveling?
18-135 is the image quality compromise so big for an amateur?
Hi Matt. 24-70mm to go with my D810 - great combo. Rgds, JA
I could imagine! Is that the 2.8 version or just 4? I would love to use a nikon. Always make jokes about them but they have some seriously good cameras for Landscape photography
I only have the samyang 12mm f2.0 on my x-t1 and this lens is on my to buy list. Great review buddy
I am doing a review right now about the samyang 12mm and fujifilm 16mm. Great lens for the price!
@@matthewstorerphotography just in case I was not clear enough... Yes, it's super sharp. It's a bag of primes.
I will chose xf 50-140mm..
Sharp sharp lens!
@@matthewstorerphotography Hmm, I won't be doing a lot of videos..now, I am leaning more towards the 18-135. Thank you!
Perfect! Amazing travel lens and also good for video so dont stress :)
For travel l use a Panasonic G7 with a 14-140mm, may also take a 14-42 as backup in case of damage.
Awesome! 14-140 is 28-280mm in full frame right? That is a crazy large focal range. Is it a big lens?? Sounds amazing
Regards Rob
I agree, I own the 18-55mm and the 50-230mm on the Fuji XT-2, but if I have to choose 1 lens? It will be 18-135 :)
Sounds very interesting mate :D
Nice video. I have an x100f but I’m looking to get an interchangeable lens camera but haven’t really decided what type of lens I should get. Looking forward to future lens reviews and you reasons to choose or not choose a lens.

@@matthewstorerphotography Cheers mate, I sure will. Problem is there sooooo many fun cameras and lenses out there it's so hard to pick only one or two ;-)
I'm thinking unpopular landscape trinity: 10-24, 18-135 & 100-400. Covers everything.
Certainly does
Just my fujinon 35mm f2 wr... 👌🏻 (on the xh1)
Solid setup up - I like it :D
Only one? With an x-h1? The 16-55 f2.8
Yes you don't have supertele, but I think I'd loose really more photos with the 18-135.
Yes 😊 but it's expensive.. So maybe in the future
No weather sealing on the 16 55 and the size. Great lens just a little less versatile.
I have a 16x55 mm zoom and I'm not a zoom person, but you may have a good point there 18x135mm … I think I'll look around...
I would stick with the 16-55 honestly. I will upgrade to the 16-80 when it comes out just due to image quality and constant apeture as I will use it mainly for filming! But the 16-55 is a lens i would love to try out one day. Hope the new lens is similar image quaility as it..
Best lens would be a true 24mm or 28mm--that means a16mm or 18mm f2.8.
Yeah nice Richard!
Thanks buddy - appreciate it!
Well, Gun to my head? My 100-400 so I would sell it and buy a few replacements.. On a good note. I just scored me a second hand 135 for less than half price new.! Winner, winner chicken dinner.
Smart Man!!! Thats so good, bargain hunter for sure lol
