You are not alone in being moved to tears by this, dear lady. We, the ordinary folk, remember the Britain this is about ... sadly those that lead us do not.
The second verse, sung here, but usually omitted nowadays because it is considered too warlike. It was aimed mainly at the many people who, though they were living in various parts of the Empire, at that time, still considered themselves to be essentially British. I hear my country calling Away across the sea Across the wastes of water She calls and calls to me Her sword is girded at her side Her helmet on her head Around her feet are lying The dying and the dead I hear the sounds of battle The thunder of her guns I come to thee my mother A son among thy sons
Another nice reaction. Thank you. You might like to react to 'The Story of the Unknown Warrior/The Bands of HM Royal Marines'. Take care - love from the UK
I prefer just to hear the tune without words (the middle part of Jupiter from the Planets Suite by Gustav Holst.) It always brings me to tears even though Jupiter is the bringer of jollity.
Hi Favorite Island Girl, I've enjoyed your reactions, I request you do a reaction to 'Auld Lang Syne - The Choral Scholars of University College Dublin'. Auld Lang Syne is a famous and endearing Scottish song celebrating enduring friendship, often sung at New Year/Hogmanay. This is a beautiful (unaccompanied) version, which I think would be sure to move you, and have you wipe away a tear! - from Scotland

I hear my country calling
Away across the sea
Across the wastes of water
She calls and calls to me
Her sword is girded at her side
Her helmet on her head
Around her feet are lying
The dying and the dead
I hear the sounds of battle
The thunder of her guns
I come to thee my mother
A son among thy sons
Raw, emotive and powerful. Never ceases to stir emotions
Thank you for appreciating that beautiful hymn.
truly my pleasure
This is one of many wonderful things that makes a British person proud
Ramin Karimloo does a perfect rendition of this hymn!
I love this song, beautifully sung here.

His Majesty Royal Marines.
Watch The Battle of Bamber Bridge.
That is about Americans. Not our Caribbean cousins.
The canteen was very smoky the day they filmed this

Agreed can't make out any of the words.
should this be UK national anthem rather than god save the King/Queen
This is great but not the best sung version of it.
