Guan dao is bigger and heavier with a 2-branch blade shape and has a sharp handle base; it is also called the spring-autumn blade because of heavy usage in the Spring-Autumn era wars. anyway and anyhow, in modern days, these historical details are no longer of actual use. they're actually a big blade with a long handle. we can use a shovel/spade instead. it's more natural and actually meaningful for us.
@@Xianxin that's definitely right, in any case other than actual application. when talking about history, Guan dao is Guan dao and Pu dao is Pu dao. but in application, which is our concern, they both have the same form factor and same techniques, though difference in weight and length may cause some mechanical differences. for example, a short, light shovel has a bit different mechanics than a longer, heavier one. both are shovels anyway. unification is a concept i really try to impart in this channel. some concepts are actually the same unified concept. it's redundant to make further divisions. unification is easier to impart and simpler to grasp. that's why i talk about pu dao, Guan dao, da dao, etc., as one unique identity. by the way, did you know there's da dao, which is even heavier and bigger than Guan dao? and there's even a bigger one as well!!! there are really many, more than a dozen! not just this weapon, every weapon has a few dozen variants, with somehow different lengths and weights and form factors, and, of course, different names.
@@ManmohanShekhawat you actually do all of them together bro. for example: - warm-up (loosen-up), takes about 2 or 3 minutes - soft body (stretching exercises), takes about 5 to 10 minutes - light body (balance), for a while, few minutes or more - hard body, power, speed, etc. these bodybuilding exercises may altogether take half an hour or more. you also practice techniques, forms, and fighting.

Xin Yi Ba is not practiced in Shaolin anymore. it was combined into Shaolin Pao quan in the 1800s and was abandoned in favor of pao quan every since.
