Hey Mal, many thanks for the mention! Interesting list of interests. I took a photography qualification when I was 16, & actually won a prize and got exhibited (I journeyed into the roughest part of Southampton with a Pentax P-30!..I wouldn’t do it now) sadly I never continued, but I still love books on photography.William Eggleston, Stephen Shore, Martin Parr, Bruce Gilbert,Diane Arbus among many others. I must check out some photography channels. Thanks again Mal!
Great tag response Mal, l was wondering how many questions it would take to get Van in. 😂 Paul Heaton superb choice. I've only Monk on CD but he can't be faulted. Nice singles despite not buying them you showed some killers. Great party, Phil Lynott🎉 RIP Wayne. Thanks for the unexpected shout out mate, took me by surprise.🎉 lsaac wow, great choice. JLH certainly off my radar, unlikely able to find now 😢 Take care Mal. Mike
Nice video Mal.. 70s for me too. from the start to its finish the decade had everything. 2023 best thing for me was Jeb Loy Nichols... Yank living in Wales. Country soul at its best.. You may or may not have come across him, but cant recommend him enough. Take care Mal...
Cheers William. I love Jeb Loy Nichols. I have his self titled LP on vinyl and one of his early ones on cd. I seen him live at the Americana festival in Gateshead quite a few years ago now-lovely soulful singer songwriter
Hi Malcolm, Happy New Year to you. Sorry to hear about Sound It Out - that was a great doc, and I still have it on DVD. Good choice of Leon Redbone, although I'm impressed you found him in your teens. As for fish, there's 'Fish Out of Water' and 'Fish Rising'. There'll be more. JG Windows in Newcastle must have massively over-ordered copies of 'Planet Waves' as they were selling it at a budget price for months.
So, you used to “get some stick” from your friends, regarding your musical choices and taste, when you were a kid? Almost impossible to believe and, thankfully, of course, no longer the case. Enjoyed that, Mal. Now off to listen to a virtually unknown album - rarer than even your James Leonard Hewitson album. This is the ultra rare collaboration between Eric Dolphy and Yoko Ono. As in the world of philately, occasionally the folk who press the vinyl get things wrong, with something ultra collectable being created as a result - as is the case with this album. Recorded in the 80’s, it was not until 2021 that an avid aficionado noticed that the entire album had, indeed, been recorded backwards. As it happens I’d picked up a copy at a garden centre where the owner had been doing a roaring trade, marketing them as a means of keeping starlings off newly seeded lawns.
Happy New Year Malcolm. The 70s was my choice too. I like your idea of having an 'Irish' theme to your dinner party, although calling it an Irish Dinner Party sounds like the beginning of a bad 70s joke. LOL And Ireland is a fantastic choice of the only country. I'd completely overlooked them myself, but when I think about it... I'd probably enjoy the limitations. Cheers.
22:00 Have you seen Bob Dylan's paintings down the years, Mal? Very evocative Americana that draws you in. There are Dylan art books & catalogues though they can be pricey. Another way to see them: they form the backdrop to archived episodes of Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour on a yt channel: ruclips.net/video/cMqFoXYTaQ8/видео.html
Interesting and exiting picks as always our Mal. 70’s for me as well.

The only fish cover LP that came to mind is "Slow Motion" by MAN. Weird one to jump into!
Cheers Dr-I only have 2 Man albums, and not that one. Enjoyed seeing them live, but rarely listen to them on record
@@VinylMonkey58 rhinos and back into the future excellent
There is a JJ Cale album in our house for your Christmas present. Troubadour.
Cheers Brian
