That point about locating yourself within the geometry of an entire country or landmass is something I experienced once in Australia. One of the shortest common flight paths in Australia is between Sydney and Canberra and there is a point as you fly over the Illawarra bushland where you can just about see both cities from from seat window. It's an extraordinary feeling, though rather more transcendental than 'grounding' as in Will's example.
I think it is Moel Famau in the Clwydian Range in Wales, that Will Self could see from the flat in Liverpool, that he thinks is Snowdon. Cheers - Mike.
Thanks SO much for putting this up.
I love listening to Will Self.
He's a piece of shit who defended chikd-killer Jon Venables, I guess you're not too far behind you scumbag.
T
Will Self seems to be becoming more kind as he ages. I like this.
Love it... Has eased a mild depression.

As of this day PGPS40, thanks for posting.
Careful as we will, careful as we go.

Enjoyed this, thanks for posting. Did you film the Q&A? Would be good to see.
Hi there, Q&A wasn't filmed unfortunately.
Where's the Q&A?

"The hope of the stairs" lmfao
You've got a funny idea of "knowledge", Will !
God, give me a prepared speech rather than this bilge. At least someone has taken the effort to think something through.
I really rather enjoy will Self except for his pernicious stance on open borders! The UK is losing its historic culture.
No it isn’t.
