I was searching to see if anyone swapped a Porsche motor into a Subaru and found this gem of a vid. I appreciate the work your doing here. You just got a new subscriber!
I knew I kept watching this for a reason. I love the direction with Porscharu ! The purists have plenty of places to be if they don’t want to be here. Really looking forward to the rest of the build.
Lol, I call my 08 Legacy 3.0r the porscharu. You guys know that porsche redesigned the gen2 ez30 for subaru? The heads have made in germany on some of the parts.
This is AWESOME!! I'm a Subaru guy getting into Porsche's and have been binge watching all these Blasphemy videos. I taught myself how to read schematics so I could swap my 2.5RS coupe. Love the flat 4/6 sounds!! Now you got me looking for a old porsche roller to swap!! Back to bingeing!!
Amazing work! 3D scanner and 3D printer saves so much time and would be the perfect solution for prototyping the adapter and then you can shoot the final file off to the a machine shop and be done. It may sound cost prohibitive but a good scanner and printer have become extremely affordable in the last few years. You project is beyond anything I have personally tackled but I use this method for all my small jobs that require custom adapters, etc. For a guy like you, its a must have. Anyway, amazing job as always! ❤️ the direction of this build.
Wow, that’s a lot of work. I suspect the method for mating the engine and trans will evolve and get a lot more precise like Jeff’s Alferrari method. Good progress!
In a previous life I was an engineer... And if it's any consolation you're doing this exactly the same way that I would be doing it, with sharp and stud screws to find the right position... Naturally, it gets a thumbs up from me..
Make templates of each mounting surface bolt pattern using a piece of plywood with cardboard glued to each side, a set of your center punch bolts, and make an adapter to fit the pilot bearing area for each side that follows the same centering method. Screw the bolts to the same depth all the way around to match the height of the throw out bearing centering point. Then gently push to indent the cardboard to mark the position of the holes. Follow the same procedure on the transmission with an added step of predrilling a small hole for the shaft to center on, then press to other side of board's cardboard face to accurately mark the holes. You are now ready to drill both sets of holes. I'd probably drill one set and spray paint the holes to keep the reference of what bolts to each and I'd also mark a horizontal line across the face after doing the first side to ensure I have proper alignment of each side on the horizontal and vertical axis. I hope that makes sense and by the way - great job!
Sorry I’m so late to the party! In my defence, I was late to HBBJ’s Porsche, too, but I got there in the end. And I’m still watching him and his Alfararri.
Could measure both halves & draw it up on CAD for a adapter plate? Your method does get happening! You now have a few reference points from each half in relation to the centre!
Excelente trabalho , há uns anos fiz uma junção idêntica de um motor Honda Civic para um Toyota Corolla de 73 , usei uma cartolina e aguarelas para tirar o desenho do motor e da caixa ficou top
Yep, people just don't get how long a customised vehicle takes to build. They think it's Gas Monkey stylee and all done in an hour. Great work on modernising the 911's drivetrain 👍
I thought it might be a bit too wide to fit, but it looks ok. How are the gearbox output flanges locating compared to the wheels? It should be a good indication if you get them as in a lwb car or further forward.
Agreed. I live out in the sticks and there’s an Ace about 4 miles away. Big time saver and decent selection for last minute stuff. However, I find that Bolt Depot online has an amazing selection of metric hardware at really good prices. Usually, when I need a couple of bolts/nuts/washers, I’ll order from them and always quadruple the quantity I need and buy a bunch of similar sizes to boot... It’s nice to build up a ready supply. Their shipping is fair and it takes about 5 days.
Looking good. You may be even more stubborn than me even at doing things by yourself! I’ve pulled my 911 engine twice now alone and haven’t killed myself or dropped it yet.
Looks good! Seems to me the question of how far forward the engine in relation to the car can be would be detemined by how far off the driveshaft output flanges can be from the wheels.
This is spell binding! One thought, as you move the engine/trans axle forward and backwards you are also moving the location of the wheels, no? Or I missing something?
I just discovered this on pelican last night... I might have a hard time having a productive weekend! Engine selection is perfect! Have you figured out cooling yet?
Find your local kitchen bench measuring guy they will have a laser scanner like this www.globaltestsupply.com/product/leica-3d-disto?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIksXdutbl6gIVCgRgCh1IRAM1EAYYBCABEgK-Z_D_BwE Then it can scan both the engine and gear box. It can create a 3d model image of both surfaces that you can use to create a CAD drawing of the mounting plate. Any one with a cnc machine should be able to mill out the design for you.
Pretty CoolVideo , BTw Ace Hardwares are individually owned and Franchised ironically my local One does keep a full stock of Metric and ImperialNuts and Bolts plus them in a Grade 8 Polished it happens to be located in a small Waterfront Town inSouthernMaryland and it is full of nice high end Marinas with many Boat Owners that do a lot of their own Maintenance and Repairs the Owner got this line as aCourtesy for certainCustomers with GoFast Boats and CustomMotorcycle Choppers he also explained to me as a Customer that it’s kind of a Test Program for his Store because the individual parts are extremely expensive he wanted to see if it would be a Worthwhile thing to sell financially i must admit i purchased some Nuts and Bolts for a Honda GoldWing rear Shock Mounts and it was almost $40.00 to make it look the way I wanted it someone years earlier used a couple of Old Steel Lug Nuts to hold them on ? i Polished most of the Factory Engine case parts so i wanted the rest to match accordingly BTW i found your video because i found a 964 recently without a Engine for sale and i’m a big fan of the Subie Conversions because of the Cost benefits and a few others

Lol I'm here the same way.
2 years later, and we're still searching, brother 😂
I knew I kept watching this for a reason. I love the direction with Porscharu ! The purists have plenty of places to be if they don’t want to be here. Really looking forward to the rest of the build.
You and me both David! Thanks man.
The Porscharu, Yes!!! I love both, so i have been watching for awhile.
@Adam Schmidt I like "Lastern", which is German for "Blaspheme". 😜
Lol, I call my 08 Legacy 3.0r the porscharu. You guys know that porsche redesigned the gen2 ez30 for subaru? The heads have made in germany on some of the parts.
That adapter could open up quite a nice business opportunity 👍
I agree!
I agree!

Always been a fan of weird engine swaps and funky custom builds like this. I’m especially fond of builds that tweak the nose of the purist crowd.
ha ha! thanks man!
Possibly the best video on this subject ever uploaded to RUclips. They should feature it in everyones feed pronto.
From your mouth to God's ears.
Engine looks pretty happy there. Not entirely out of place, really! Will cause a few people to do a "double-take" in the future, for sure!
Especially when they hear how killer it sounds...
Keen to see how the cooling set up goes
"feeling mid-enginey"....Not even close, but a guy can dream. Keep up the good content. Love it.
I look forward to seeing your videos come up each week. Brilliant idea with the sharpened bolts by the way. Love the Build. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Brian. Much appreciated.
Well i was searching for a porsche swapped subaru but this works too
Maybe someday in the future will see that as well
love this build
Loving the build and loving watching all the videos. Keep it up man.
I am catching up and loving your work! Love Porsches, but like to see these kind of swaps too.

Maybe I will find somebody here in SoCal if my current plan does not work out.

Thanks for the detailed response!
@@rennch. yea what he said lol. just marry the the two templates together, with the center shafts aliened. and one inch thickness.
Sorry I’m so late to the party! In my defence, I was late to HBBJ’s Porsche, too, but I got there in the end. And I’m still watching him and his Alfararri.
Man...ha ha ha, I am digging this build! Your personality brings me back for the next parts! Great Job!! ✋
Could measure both halves & draw it up on CAD for a adapter plate? Your method does get happening! You now have a few reference points from each half in relation to the centre!
Looks like a great choice of motor👍, plenty of space for twin turbos😊, Keep up the great videos📹👍
Yes indeed! Thanks man.
😎✌️looking forward to hearing more about the adapter plate and all the fab work to get that engine and transmission mounted. Fantastic stuff!
Awesome Keith, thanks!

Wow this is very interesting!Which exact transmission are you using? Awesome build, subscribed!!
You’re a legend
Or infamous.
High Five ! Keep up the good work! Let's get this algorithm going!
Thanks man!
Serious talent bro!
Thanks. Just winging it over here!
I thought it might be a bit too wide to fit, but it looks ok.
How are the gearbox output flanges locating compared to the wheels? It should be a good indication if you get them as in a lwb car or further forward.
No, fits quite well in there.
That build is taking form 👌🏼
Getting there!
New subscriber here in sunny England.
Looks a great build. Have fun!!
Looking forward to seeing more progress.
Great to have you on board Andrew!
Nice job. Good idea for the engine. I stay tune to see thé progress. 👍
I appreciate that!
Can't wait to see more
I'll keep 'em coming.
Great progress, keep up the great work!
Thanks bud.
🤘 (you asked for the horns) LOL ... Build is going great!
Right back atcha. 🤘
Nice work! Working on a Subaru swap into my 74 Super Beetle. Thankfully I didn’t have to engineer my adapter plate 😅
Excelent project!
Thanks Nicolas!
I agree with you on Ace Hardware for hardware great selection
Yea, it's awesome!

awesome job looking forward seeing you continue to build
Thanks man!
Man looking at this I'm super interested, thoughts on putting the Porsche engine/trans in a Subaru 🤔, or even just the trans to the Subaru
Looking good. You may be even more stubborn than me even at doing things by yourself! I’ve pulled my 911 engine twice now alone and haven’t killed myself or dropped it yet.
Quarantine Life!
I missed the part which shows your fly wheel and clutch assembly.
Looks good! Seems to me the question of how far forward the engine in relation to the car can be would be detemined by how far off the driveshaft output flanges can be from the wheels.
I've got 'em dead nuts even now!
The Subaru engine have IMS?
Great work neither. Question, I have an outback sedan with an EZ30. Did guy have to sleeve cylinders due to the added pressure from the turbos?
I haven’t yet...but I haven’t gotten there yet either.
fitting in prett damn sweet :)
send this to Nakai-san and let's see his reaction
ha, totally!
Are you selling the adapter plate now?
After the car fires and we get the kinks worked out.
cool
Really want to see someone drop an r34 engine into one of these old boys
tl;wf
This is spell binding! One thought, as you move the engine/trans axle forward and backwards you are also moving the location of the wheels, no? Or I missing something?
Right now I have it pretty centered, but yes it will sort of “ auto locate”
Where did you source your subie motor from?
Adapter for sale yet?
No sir...gonna be a minute.
Another great vid!
Do you have to rotate the air intake manifold 180 degrees? Or make U turn bend on the plenum?
Not sure. Not there yet.
Does the transaxle meet up with the wheel wells OK?
spot on, Jim!
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
What about starter motor?
Solved in the most recent ep!
🤙🏻
👍
I need one i have a 996 with blown motor
anything wrong with using the subaru gearbox ?
Yea, you have to buy an expensive ring and pinion flipper to run it backwards.
🤜🏻🤛🏻
CAD would really help with this fabrication. But it’s looking good so far
Cardboard Aided Design?
🤘💯
Very nice:)
Thanks James.
why not get a peace of clear pvc and trace the bolts and shape then drill and cut
Because we had to have a mount for the starter.
3D scan both faces and CNC an adapter plate would have been quicker for you (possibly cheaper as well)
That would be cool! Didn't have my 3D scanner handy. :)
@@rennch. Maybe you can use your camera: ruclips.net/video/ye-C-OOFsX8/видео.html&vl=en

I just discovered this on pelican last night... I might have a hard time having a productive weekend!
Engine selection is perfect!
Have you figured out cooling yet?
I have! And it's rad. Stay tuned.
I need one my 996 blow the motor
Patience! :)
👍🤙
🤘🤘🤘
That would be a subapo wouldn’t it or a porwu? 😂

Find your local kitchen bench measuring guy they will have a laser scanner like this www.globaltestsupply.com/product/leica-3d-disto?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIksXdutbl6gIVCgRgCh1IRAM1EAYYBCABEgK-Z_D_BwE
Then it can scan both the engine and gear box. It can create a 3d model image of both surfaces that you can use to create a CAD drawing of the mounting plate. Any one with a cnc machine should be able to mill out the design for you.
Why are you using a carpenters hammer rather than a ball peen hammer when pounding on a chisel?
Next time use cardboard and transfer to the metal
You can use a piece of paper or a piece of cardboard silly
