That quick release feature is very nice. Such a strong selling point
DJI needs to put out a version that can be an audio receiver for their wireless mics. That would be such a winner feature IMO.

Same. Action 2 was a disappointment, but I was a huge fan of osmo action 1, glad they returned to the original design. I think it should be safer regarding heating with this design.

@@RedMushroom23 well i cant trust gopro because of random freezes. Maybe ur unit is a lucky one but i dont want to think while i press the record button. OA1 is awesome , never frozen even at 40degrees of my bike rides shooting 2.7k/50fps

Osmo Action is my favorite action camera, so this upgraded version with Rocksteady 3 looks just amazing. I just hope it fit my helmet with the magnet mount lol

Thanks for the review. Lately, DJI action 3 camera users have been complaining about poor focus, do you think this is a factory defect? Does your camera have focus problems?

so far I only owned DJI drones, but with this camera DJI thow a glow in competition faces!
And people are still buying GoPro which is majorly overrated, this camera is MUCH better in every way possible. I recently got a DJI Pocket 2 and that thing is amazing, but now I need a sport camera to use with the pocket.

The BEST thing that Action 2 did is the magnetic clip! I think every action cameras should have that. On DJI official video it did show the invisisable selfie stick removal. Do you know how does that work?
They said they us AI to remove the stick. My guess is it’s an on or off feature.
from what I understand they aren't actually backwards compatible as the ones are the Action 2 are different.
@@delasse3178 Yes, they are not exact match. Some video shows that it fits but not safe for extreme action use.
However I think action 2 is a very successful experimental product from dji. It has the form factor of hero session, modular of insta one R/RS, “quick release” mount. I’ll say some people would miss the action 2 form factor, just that the internal storage and battery life isn’t good. At least one of the successful takeaway is the magnetic quick release clip. Can you imagine all the 360 cameras using the same magnetic clip, no more unscrewing 1/4 screw or Gopro mount. And all the magnetic clip can pass through data and power.
Action 2 accomplish so much more than hero session. Hope that DJI will keep up with the good work.
Got the Action 3! Easy to use, no glitch, long battery life, super stabilization and no focus issue
Im glad that DJI is now getting close to the perfect action camera formula. The original Osmo Action had so much potential and product development has gone the right way now with the Action 3.
Ben, did you mention there will be a 10 bit firmware upgrade later by DJI that will give better color range?

UI is so smooth and those audio gestures are very cool along with the magnetic quick mount. Although rocksteady stabilization looks soft compared to GoPro hypersmooth on 11 but the osmo 3 price is definitely what makes it worth. Great review! 👍

Best bang for the buck definitely.. you should compare the menu touch response in GoPro 11 and this one. And wich one power on/off faster..

These cameras are all really goodI. I taught TV production for 30 years and majored in Com in college. I remember the days when cameras were as big as a house. Trust me …. They’re all good …. No matter the make or model …. Just wish we’d had these back in the day …..

you missed the really big killer.....you need to register the camera, with a mobile phone..and it needs as higher OS than I have (DJI Mimo runs on mine Android 8.1 but stat4s I need 9 or higher to work, so not risking buying the camera). im not paying hundreds for a new phone just tyo use a camera... very few places (even amazon) point this out. I also dont like that I have to register the camera , and only get 5 attempts or it bricks the camera. way too big brother for me.

It's the true successor of Osmo action.
Camera sensor is same as old one and SAME 12 megapixels, no improvement at all, looks like they took all old hardware snd put in a new housing
I was hoping for a 1 inch sensor but this is still better than Gopro Hero 11. Overheating is a perennial problem with Gopro
Can you shoot 4k 120fps on normal video mode? What I mean by is filming in normal speed and not slow mo
Uff as a fpv pilot i loved the form factor from the action 2 and also the image quality for that given form factor but the action 3 doesnt offer anything new for a fpv pilot even not 10bit color (not yet) i think gopro is winning this year with the hero 11 black mini. And still no Gyroflow support, not for the Action 2 and it looks like also not for the Action 3. Meanwhile Gopro allows post stabilisation + hypersmooth.
I have an Action One and it’s been great. But I really wanted two more features, 1) horizontal stabilization 2) GPS. Well I see #1 wish came true how about #2?
I like the new mounting system but have already invested in the Ulanzi twist and magnet system which is the same principle. It’s great.
I am not liking the price tag so much but so glad to see they quickly fixed their mistakes on the 2. Filters are a must, hope its the same size ring as the action 1!

Go with dji osmo action 3 if 8 bit video is enough for you and consider go pro hero 11 if 10 bit video really matter

I love the DJI Action 3's return to form although the modular format of the Action 2 has its charm. You can really see the inspiration that was inherited from the OA2 for this version. A little more polishing especially when it comes to cropping during stabilization and the Action 3 can be the king of action cams pretty soon.
I skipped on the Action 2 but this time I'd definitely be upgrading my Osmo Action to the Action 3!
I also skipped Action 2 from Gopro Hero. Osmo Action 3 is great. Hope that its firmware will upgrade to 10 bit color.

I have the original Osmo Action and still love it. Might have to upgrade to this, but I'm not so sure yet if I need it. Gotta sit down and compare specs and features really.
dji came in strong. 329 i cant complain, very likely to upgrade from my action 1.
I use DJI pocket 2 and I love it. I just either need a action cam or a 360 now. I like your review

I was just thinking of upgrading my Osmo Action to the Action 2 but I guess it's the Action 3 for me!
The only action camera I ever had is the Go Pro 8 but I recently made an upgrade to the Action 3 and I cant believe DJI is doing better action cams than GoPro now.

Not readily available it seem. I ordered one for delivery 27th Sept, now delayed until 4th October. That's in the UK, but in US seems to be longer delays, so I am expecting a further delay in mine. 30W PD charger not even on the UK website.
And no overheating problem is big plus for me compared to a GoPro

Great review. Two questions: How's the internal mic sound? Any good? I find it really annoying on the GoPro series. So much shake and rain noise. Second: Is it possible to turn off the beeping sound when turning it on and off?

Thanks for your very informative video... have you tested the Action 3 in/under water (e.g. in a swimming pool and/or at the beach)? I really want to know how good it is (quality, sharpness, etc) when filming underwater... Also, how is it for filming kids and pets...

Seems like a nice package. I'm just wondering if that external DJI Mic won't fall off during on ruff MTB trails or won't fall off on your motorcycle wheelies :) I'm looking for a Sony Action Cam replacement, since that one is an audio nightmare. I'm really reserved now to even try others, unless someone tested them in the wind on a MTB or motorcycle. Gopro is not on my list, because I see a lot of RUclipsrs with Gopro's complain about freezes. ( you don't want that either :) )
I don't want Gopro for the very same reason, it's a software and hardware problem. Their software is as unreliable as Microsoft. I bought Hero 7 and it gave me a lot of problems that others never encounter in Action 1.
