I think Drawn to Life was my first exposure to genre-twisted media, you look at the box and think "Oh, cute little rabbit-fox things and an adventure where I get to make my own character and elements and stuff!" but oh, oh we were not prepared for what 5th Cell was about to do to us.
And we were even less prepared for it the second time, good lord.
What's funny was the Collection did a 180 and gave a good ending.
Two Realms swoops in and says "Nah, we rollin' with da original."

@@lightninstriker10Yeah… really sucks. You know, I just realized both Scribblenauts and Drawn to Life were pretty much killed by other companies trying to make a new game and both ended up horrible
@@lucypie09 To be fair to Scribblenauts, where do you even go after Unlimited? Unmasked was good for set-dressing, sure, but when you throw literally everything you have left into an open-world style game, what's even left to do at that point? At the very least that series got to die with dignity with a follow-up nobody was interested in, as opposed to having it's corpse dragged out for a bad iOS port of the original, buried again, and then dug up once more for a quick buck on a crappy puzzle-platformer.

When I replayed this last year, I was brought to tears by the ending. Who knew that such a masterpiece of storytelling could be found in a simple DS game aimed at kids

I love that when you beat the game and hear this play, you realize you’ve been hearing this song several times throughout the game, yet it’s only at the end do you finally hear it in its true form.

Listening to this song after years ago from playing the game as a child brings me back to simpler times. The story is probably one of the most memorable out of any video game I've ever played, and one I look back to for inspiration to this day.
I'm a 23 year old man, and the cathartic feelings I am experiencing are so strong that I am on the verge of tears.
This game is truly a masterpiece that will always have a special place in my heart, and I will always cherish the memories I had with this game for as long as I live.

I remember when I finished this game it was one of the first game I finished on the DS and I wasn't aware that this little thing could play a piece of music with proper singing voices and it completely took me out. I'm not easily moved by stuff in music and movies/games but this song came out of nowhere in this pretty little game and swept me away 😢

It's almost like the song could be interpreted a sister begging her brother to come home....
just finished the game for the first time many many years after it being one of those "never get too far but play all the time" childhood games. I have my fair share of issues with the gameplay and especially level design, but one thing this game has is heart. The people who made this game were passionate and the pixel art is the best I've ever seen. I'm excited to play the sequel for the first time!

This game blew my child mind to how games can tell deep emotional stories what an absolute masterpiece of an artform they can be.
Who gave you the right to play with my heart this way
This game’s ending was the first time as a child that I ever cried while playing a game, it was so well put together, from the flashbacks of events your champion had orchestrated involving the townsfolk, to the conflicted feelings of both the characters featured as they are at a crossroads, and the ending with the former Mayor’s spirit looking down from the hill, as he and the champion finally move on, knowing that they left their world in capable hands…
It’s just such a sweet, heartfelt ending, and far ahead of the time of games having big, emotional climaxes as standard in almost every story.
Also, the scene of Wolfgang being swallowed by the very darkness he sought to control, after crossing the ultimate line, and murdering the mayor, is still a haunting moment for me 😁
Such good memories… I should break out my DS and replay it ❤️

So something good did come out of the IOS port...
yeah, people got to play the game on their phones.
People could already play it in a device that goes in their pockets. Also including the sequel and a massive library of mostly fantastic games.
@@Kirbio the DS and 3DS have both ceased manufacturing years ago. With second hand copies of the game being rather expensive
That's fair. The IOS port still isn't the best way to play the game, though, and TNC hasn't been ported anywhere. We'll have to really hope that Two Realms sold enough to get ports of the first two games.
