#halo #unrealengine5 #halonews
I’ve got way too many great halo memories to just walk away from this franchise. Hope they really can restore it to its former glory!
Halo Infinite, for the first time in Halo's history, united both old and new fans of Halo. It had all the stepping stones to be the golden era of Halo. When it took a year for season 2 to come out and basic small quality of life improvements took literally 6 months to come out. It couldn't keep up with CoD or Fortnite having huge updates every 3 months.
I want to believe UE5 Halo will be a grand slam homerun, as we all are craving Halo's return to true form, rather than fade into obscurity!
Also, Halo ODST 2, Halo Reach 2 and Halo Infinite 2, all need to become reality!
i'll never forget the feeling i had when i first saw infinite gameplay reveal. compared to what i feel now.. man. lol
anyway great vid Tim.
i believe
I believe
I’m currently working on a new Halo that’s dated in the next 100-200 years after Infinite so it doesn’t tie into their timeline if they were to bring another. This may take a few months to build but hopefully worth it.
"Halo fans are developing the game",bro, if it were like that Infinite wouldn´t have turned out the way it did.
And you seem to forget what happened with the TV Show. 343 did have say and do over the production and still went straight to crap.
I wouldn´t get my hopes up, tbh.
It’s pretty wild that 343’s games are SO AWFUL that the ONLY way to save Halo is to recreate Bungie’s majesty with a CE remake. We’ve learned from Digsite that Halo Studios, 343, and Microsoft are all the same entity. Nothing has changed with the rebrand. Halo’s going to continue to be in the gutter, and it was always going to be this way under Microsoft. Bungie fought Microsoft on basically everything, and once they left the series immediately went downhill.
In an ideal world they’d bring back the original Bungie devs and give them free rein over the franchise. Unfortunately, that isn’t the world we live in. I’ve lost all faith in Halo. It’s about as dead as Star Wars under Disney. The ONLY redeeming qualities either franchise has is all the old stuff that was much better, and a wide array of fan content.
Halo could be absolutely incredible if they nailed putting together the best bits of every Halo that came before it(yes including Halo 5) pull the best multiplayer types, maps from every game before it and don't forget some Forge mode simplified custom UE5 thing
@lordxboss5700 Agreed 100%!
Just look at the staff. That should tell you all you need.
Yeah, but i personally dont care who it is as long as it turns out good.
@@gravemind2004you're delusional
@@gravemind2004 but that’s just the thing, about DEI hiring. You will never get the best product.
Yeah I don't care who makes it as long as the game is good. BUT!!! DEI employees who hate guns and want the total opposite shit as the real world...I really have no hope.
@@kaicyr2you clearly don’t know how DEI works
I would preferred if they went with IDTech, looks as good but runs better, still let's hope halo comes back!!
Hmm, never heard of IDTech. Interesting. The big plus with Unreal Engine 5 is the fact that SO MANY dev's know how to use it, and from what I understand it's easier to use than a lot of other engines.
@ActiveOnHalo nah bro im sure you know it, this one is the one mainly from Doom and Quake, was recently used in the latest Indiana Jones game, and a lot of games, it's been the main competitor to Unreal engine, sicen Quake vs Unreal Tournament.
Plus Microsoft onwns the studio that makes the engine, so they'll get all the suppor they need in house 👌🏻👌🏻.
With Microsoft in control. Unfortunately, NOTHING can save Halo.
Don’t lie to yourself. The reason Microsoft treats halo the way it does is because of how badly 343 has messed halo up
@CreeperPlaysGames373 I can agree with that too. Bonnie Ross, Frank O'Connor, and Phil Spencer slaughtered the franchise that made Xbox and MLG what it is today.
@CreeperPlaysGames373Better Hand it over to Sony, then.
@@EntrepreneurialBoost ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY NOT. 🖕Sony
@@EntrepreneurialBoost that would go horribly 💀 you’re definitely a Sony fanboy
I'm optimistic, I think they have a lot of pressure to make something great because of how much Microsoft was dissppointed with Halo 5 and Infinite, now Epic is also betting on them and them having to prove themselves as The Halo Studios.
Being optimistic is more fun because you can just mind your job, play whatever existing Halo game till the next one comes us, it's not misery.
Honestly, what people need to remember with this launch is this is gonna be entirely new for even them. It's a new engine I expect bugs and tweaks to come. It should be given a chance to fix bugs, ect when it releases. Not condemned on launch immediately. I hope it does work out for them I love Halo to much to walk away.
I need Halo to be the big shooter it was again. I'll be here to make it happen.
I don't think a Halo BR would make much of a difference on the arena side of things but I believe something fresh and new could do that which is something I would love to see. Give me something new or something familiar with a big twist.
idk, every UE5 game seems to suffer from low FPS even on high end specs.
Really? What games? I actually have never heard this, that's not good!
@@ActiveOnHaloIt’s mostly because they’re running early versions of UE5 like 5.1 & 5.2. The engine is constantly being updated all the time but once a game begins development the engine version can’t simply be updated. So UE5 today isn’t the same UE5 a year ago and most games out that are UE5 are UE5 from 2-3 years ago.
@@ActiveOnHalo It's mostly because of the lack of optimization on the devs' end. Even if you're using a well-established engine, a bit of optimization is needed cuz each game has different needs, in terms of graphics, physics and other stuff. UE doesn't just give users infinite performance
@@ActiveOnHalo Halo Studios will definitely have an easier time with UE than they did with Slipspace though, that's for sure
@@T3tra_BR55 lets hope you are right.
I just hope the performance isn’t terrible like so many other ue5 games
Mate, frame pacing is a huge issue in Unreal Engine, when going into a new area. Watch any of the Digital Foundry videos where they've called it 'unreal stutter'
The thing with Infinite is that the 343 team had to develop a game engine, and then develop the game. You need two different skill sets of people to do that and do it well. Especially when you are making it cross platform PC/Console. I dont play console, but the PC version always felt and still does feel like the engine needed more time.
So i also hope that the switch to unreal will be what saves Halo. The team can focus on making halo great again, and not have to split their focus on engine / game.
Until then Halo is really the only FPS i play. Cause sadly Quake, UT, Diabotical, Warsow, Reflex, Painkiller are dead. 😢
Im excited to see what is to come this year and hopefully the new game drops early next year!
Halo doesn't need saving ....it's the greatest it's ever been....it's the gamers
Yeh but how is this gonna run on my computer. I mean I have a good GPU, but UE5 games are absolutely rough to run.
@@CombatMedic1O Really good point here.
i feel like ue5 could be a blessing and a curse cause the main problem uve been seing with ue5 now a days is corps pushing for graphix more then performance and tbh im very scared for how halo will run if they dont optimize it correctly
Well, 18 months is a standard construction time for most building site blocks, unless money stops flowing that is. Even if that's the case, the type of work is standardized and companies can be fairly easily replaced because of that. Hi wasn't like that all. The type of work was extremely specialized and the turnover way too quick compared to the schedules. I know that's what you meant, but my inner architect screamed at that example! 😂
Sorry, that's a real "actually..." moment if I ever had one!^^
Halo Studios shouldnt have a problem with UE5 since The Coalition will help them out.
Before watching the video just want to give why on the development side it just was from the outside developer hell because Microsoft refused to perma employ the contractors who learned the engine and tools over the period and developed for the game. only to be removed after 6 month contract period. this was a Microsoft and ways always a management issue. they had over 200-300 rotating contracting workers that wanted to be employed but no. so wasting 4-6 years of doing the same thing and barely getting stuff done. Unreal engine is in a bad optimization stage and Epic even had to come out during a 5.5 tech talk to speak about new goals to fix and optimize and improve the features after saying they only focused on features to push their tech. and now rest of unreal engine versions from 5.5+ will be to optimize and improve the tech they developed over the course for it (we shall see by 5.6+ releases if true). Even ProjectRed studios have been working with epic to improve cpu threading and essentially fix the engine for them to be more performant. and also with alot of the last 2 years big eyes on how the state of unreal is a stutter and bad performing mess. Epic is suddenly working hard to improve. which is good. and hope to see good work from it. about time.
For Halo on Unreal. I think for game play it will be amazing due to the sheer amount of stuff they can do and also the script based learning alot of the devs did in slipspace (blam upgraded) is C++ essentially and they will be able to do a lot (and be easier to learn the tools ) and make the games good (hopeful) also if they retain the people that work on the game and no longer do this 6 month rotation Microsoft problem.
I do hope under Pierce and the rest sitting down and just getting to work and do what they want to make without Microsoft coming in with issues. also Creative Affinity working on another Halo project also with 200+ people is exciting since when they involved they always bring that Halo life to the game and quality.
I personally loved that they went back to halo for infinite just how it got handled sucked but cant always blame the artist or developer who will get fired if they speak up at the time.
its like working at a job and you kinda just have to do what they say no matter how good the idea is. gameplay was good but sadly so much issues got revealed and had to clean up management people and problematic things.
I honestly don't mind seeing a full remake of the trilogy and even the sequel of CE being Reach. just something about launching the first time and the whole space intro just gave a sense of like uneasy feeling of having to be prepared for the worst. and of course the biggest invasion of losing Reach. and trying to warn Earth. I do also wish to see Halo 4/5 remade fully not that story of theirs but to actually take the whole beginning lore of the forerunners being Human because they are the ones to inherit the Mantle of responsibility and the whole Human vs Covenant war is based on the lie by the prophets to hide the truth that they arnt meant to be the re claimers and the journey to be a lie. it was so much they could have shown the history but got changed. so I do hope to see some lots of back stories and also short films like Forward onto Dawn with young Thomas Lasky who later becomes the infinities Captain of the Super Class ship for Humanity after galaxy being saved and surviving destruction on Earth. just showing back stories and kinda side things all play into the overall story. it doesn't always have to be Chief this and Chief that. (we saw Lasky majority of the time - Chief was there just to shoot things in a way and kinda show how bad it gets when the covenant strike without being prepared) We always got to see John struggle between being the best and trying to do his best but struggle with what is right but still losing with some things. also that him being special due to genetic coding from Forerunners i find really interesting. so kinda wanna see something properly done and not that weird Liberian and some random forerunner race.
Like Halo wars 1 was really good story wise. They kinda went unnoticed in terms of actually saving Humanity by preventing the Covenant using the stored destroyer ship fleet left behind by the forerunners that could essentially just instantly go wipe humanity if that happened. and also losing Sargent forge who stayed behind to activate the slip-space drive to blow due to damage for remote detonation. and the dialogue between Captain cutter and Anders saying we got everyone out and we are safe. rest and replying not all of us captain with the sense of grief and the cryopod showing closing Forge's Pod without him. and even the intro to Halo wars 2 with the Banished. and you can hear how Serina cared for the crew and everyone and can hear how she had to prepare for decommissioning and deleting herself to not go into rampancy. she starts letting out that painful like saying goodbye and obviously how they show Captain cutters face being like he isnt happy but its something that had to be done just in the intro scenes. man ngl id love to see Halo wars writing team get to sit and help fill the remaking of halo games.
Certain affinity also helping halo wars development probably made it that good but i cant say for sure really.
I dont want to be nostalgic about it. its more of the story of the whole struggle of humanity suddenly being at the mercy of a whole alien combined species and seeing how Humanity has to stand together against it. also we get to shoot aliens. its always been kwl and I miss my marine bois.
My issue is it's going to look amazing, but I'm worried it won't have that same feel.
The only thing that can save halo are good writers and artists with a coherent vision
The one thing that he didn't mention which is the most important thing is the Halo story. Without a good story, it doesn't matter how pretty the game is. This is what worries me the most about a new Halo game.
I 100% agree with you, I apologize I tend to focus a lot on the multiplayer/competitive side because that is where I spend most of my time, but you are 100% right. That is a big pilar of the new game.
Im not excited about Infinite still going, but I do like the sound of a potentially better engine. In Halo's to come, this could mean better shot registration online if combined with a better netcode.
No corporate greed has killed modern gaming. It starts and ends with the suit losers.
I cannot wait to see what UE5 will bring to Halo! Great video Tim!
And, here we go again... absolutely zero GAF's about Campaign DLC.
😣😕
Unreal will save halo 1000% people who say other wise do not understand how much a pure engine can do.
no it cannot. The only thing that will save Halo is a new company. 343 has tarnished the hell out of their name.
I have uninstalled the game. Even after 4 yrs this game is pathetic for high ping players. Blanks are so significant. I am die hard Halo fan but I have let go this game. I know until Microsoft and 343 (Halo studios) are running the show this game can't be good. It is destined to be failed.
The only way you can save this game is by selling it to Bungie or some other passionate studio.
No, because it requires developers who actually care about the franchise and 343i has proven they don’t.
if I see a "fuel rod rocket launcher" or anything remotely close to that kitbash abomination in any future game, I'm immediately uninstalling and never playing it again...
Hopefully you have inside info and an extraction shooter and BR is coming our way. I would just add to your wishlist, proper separation of inputs in ranked play. Infinite had it but they removed it because of population and now we have 5 ranked playlists?
they need to release the BR
With Ue5, be ready for an unoptimized game and a blurry mess with forced TAA.
Think about this: We haven't heard ANY news about how many, if any, of the old staff is being replaced when they switched to Halo Studios. This can very well mean it's the same people involved in making the game, the same people that have made poor choices along the way. The same people that HAVE to listen to the rushed, unreasonable demands of Microsoft. The same people that has put Halo in its current state.
Halo being in a poor state didn't happen in a vacuum. It's a result of the people behind it, and if those people haven't left? It WILL happen again, the game will just look different due to a different engine.
Halo infinite was fantastic, I think everyone just got bored of not being on the hate train anymore.
Microsoft bassicly owns ID TECH. why tf use UE5 when you have the creators of the arena shooter sitting there
Halo is the only FPS game I like other than Battlefield. But Battlefield died too after BF3 and BF1....Infinite actually brought Halo back for me.
A new, modern engine that is more mainstream will probably be better for development i'd assume so that's good.
I'll always have a place for HCS.....but HCS was pretty rough during H4-H5......Infinite brought it back.
we'll see....but ya...honestly the biggest problem a new Halo game is gonna have is player base. A small player base makes things like "match composer" pointless.
100% agree
unreal engline 5 its actually just killing games I think that U5 = GGS for halo
Ah, those engine limitations that didn't exist before and that they had to make up because everyone who made the engine got fired after 18 months or left on their own xD
Can't wait for another UE mess that barely manages 30 fps on console and where even a 4090 struggles to run a stable 120+ fps on max settings without DLSS.
The Engine change is there because Microsoft wants to keep throwing everyone out after 18 months without the new people having to learn how the engine works every time again and again. Since most devs already know how UE works, but that doesn't make it a good performing engine, it just makes it the cheapest option for the corpo's.
they need to fire the woke people in halo studio and hire the nerds that are really into halo
Can Unreal save Halo? If another company is doing it, maybe. If it’s 343 or whatever they want to call themselves nowadays, definitive no.
I don't think so it'll make it look bog standard like every other unreal engine game. The few things they've shown us looked terrible so i don't have high hopes but then again I imagine any other studio than a rebranded 343 industries would probably make something better.
Short answer: No
Long andwer: Nooooooooooooooo
A good dev can make a masterpiece out of a bad engine. So no, UE will not save Halo.
That's the problem though. High skilled contractors weren't able to master the "bad engine"
They've had the franchise longer then bungie and have consistently broke promises and delivered garbage products (that have potential because of passionate developers but management is awful). Switching to unreal is like a last resort because they can't afford their way of making games anymore. There are 5 good bungie halo's on MCC and on their original platforms that are great to play and I won't be coming back to modern halo unless its content complete at launch and isn't a generic unreal 5 looking game where developers or management get lazy and decide to not properly optimize their game and rely on TAA.
Thank you for this video
Too many of these RUclipsrs are negative as hell when it comes to halo and it’s really irritating
Thanks for this.
No.
Real thought? Giving them launch Xbox (2001) hardware, to dev on. So they have to breed ingenuity and creativity. To easy for bad companies to fork over the Pixel density and call that a game well done. Nah, go back to making a game even run makes new ideas and mechanics. Now thats end user fun.
Next game should be called Halo Infintum!
Or Halo the the Infinite and beyond! Or Halum!
Better graphics are not going to make the games better.
i dont have faith halo studios at all. from where i stand all they did was rebrand by name only as the core team is still there and that is the problem. no one working in decision making positions at that company love halo and arguably dont even play video gams
I hope they expel the grapple hook
The grapple hook was sick tho
Mellisa Boone and Mr ( I don’t like guns ) skittles can save halo
Battle Royale and new modes hell ya
This video gives me much hope bra…
I LOVE THIS
Infinite is a great game, im not sure why people hate on it.
Unreal engine (the fortnite engine) is just a tool. Its up to the developers to make a good game. I feel we are still far away from the next halo game and while i am skeptical due to infinite being poopy on launch and microsoft not seeming to care that much about halo i do hope the next game is great!
You sir are much too optimistic.
Maybe, maybe not, but I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do!
Quit after Halo after 4 good luck
I’m still broken up about it.
@@SkidzTheSlayer Same dude. Same.
Core game play great. Worst weapon sand box ever. No SMH No Plasma rifle No weapon variants.
Like every move, it always has the potential to be good. But the problem is 343 often just abandons stuff, partly because the playerbase has a negative reception but also partly because the work they do is so inefficient due to things like the slipspace engine. Infinite could have been a great game and it definitely had more done right than other halo's 343 has made. I think their only real failing with Infinite was the live service model, there just wasn't anything going on.
We need people to realise that what made halo special is gone, the time the world was in, the people who made it. All changed and this is a GOOD THING. Things change. Halo is just a casualty of success.
Find the next passion project to fall in love with, find the next amazing game be they indie or triple A. The original good games are still right there to play. I plan to play them all again with my daughter but the past stays in the past.
Far too many chase nostalgia, why do you think companies lean so heavily on it. All of us need to judge future halo games to stand on their own. Piere seems to be just as bad as Bonnie or the previous leadership if what Ive heard from former Devs is to be believed.
Let halo go everyone. Play the new games if they are worth your time. However. Don't just blindly dive into them just because they play the same music at the start and have the chief there.
As a Halo fan I absolutely hate the switch to unreal because the future games will lose the feel that every other first-person entry in the series has had up until this point due to them all being on different iterations of the same engine, the terrible business decision to use contractors is why the blam a.k.a slipspace engine failed, if they had an internal engine team working on it they wouldn't even need to switch, look at iD software and their very own in-house developed iDTech engine or heck even post-Halo Bungie who still use as well as update the blam engine, there is no excuse.
