  • Hello and welcome. Today we take a first look at the ‪@Kimberamerica‬ KDS9c. I first saw this pistol at the 2023 NRA Convention held in Indianapolis, IN. I anxiously for the release to the public. Finally one came in. Actually two came in. One all black which sold right away and this sample. What are you thoughts on ‪@Kimberamerica‬ entry into the double-stack 1911 world? As always, I look forward to your comments.
    Thank you for stopping by and God Bless.

    Nice tabletop review! Kimber paid alot of attention to the details on this pistol. With 18 rd mags on the way too, I'm optimistic about this offering. 👍👍

    I agree with your assessment 100%. The Bul Armory is one nice piece that's hard to beat for the price. I've had too many issues with several kimbers in the past and am too skeptical to invest in them ever again. Especially with so many great options being available for greater value. Nicely detailed as always 👌.

    I’m a Kimber fan starting with the 1911. I fell in Love with the Kimber Pro Raptor ll in 45 acp. Beautiful, Reliable, night sights, scalled serrations, scalloped slide, and I have ALWAYS used Wilson Combat 47D mags in ALL my 1911’s. I carry as my EDC in Winter under a coat in Galco’s leather “Miami Classic” shoulder holster has worked well for me. I just recently purchased another revolver the Kimber K6s 357 Magnum 6-shot snub nosed I carry as my Summer EDC in a Desantis leather paddle holster and it’s the nicest snub nosed revolver I’ve ever purchased. Now I want this Kimber double stacked 9mm and surely be my next purchase. Beautiful build with that double stacked mag grabs my attention. #Kimber❤

    I’ve had mine for about a month now. It’s at about 500 rounds now, and not a malfunction of any kind with several brands and types of ammo. Mounted a holosun EPS carry on it, and it will drive nails all day long. This is my fourth kimber and never a problem with any of them. You are either a kimber person or, you’re not.

    Nice overall table top review but you confuse matters when you say that you prefer the Bul Armory product. They are different, The Kimber is a 15 round double stack with an optics cut. Do you realize how few 1911's are red dot ready. Add $500 to $600 for a machine shop to do an optics cut and refinish the slide and the Bul Armory is now the same price and it's still a single stack holding 9 or 10 rounds. With the soon to be released 18 round Kimber mag it just is no comparison.

    • @MDpolo
      @MDpolo  10 месяцев назад

      I know they are different. I’m aware of that. My point was that between the two guns that I have in front of me which one I would choose. Yes I can compare them because I’m making a choice between the two. Thank you very much for stopping by.

    As I have come to expect from your channel, this was another quality tabletop review. I agree that the grip and frame texture leaves a lot to be desired, though I haven't had any grip texture-related issues during the 1,000 trouble-free rounds with my KDS9c. A good comparison is with the Wilson EDC X9 - at twice the price. I'm hoping Kimber will remedy the few issues with the version 2.0.

    I'm not a Kimber fan but not a hater either - I have a micro 9 with the aluminum frame so I know what the deal is. It's a LOT lighter - which is mostly good for carry. Despite having never shot the KDS9c, because it has a 1911 trigger, high capacity and thinner grip for a double stack - it competes with the Wilson combat and at less than half the price. I think this is my next gun and the gun to beat.

    It's an interesting piece. I kinda like the color scheme. It has that "50 shades of FDE" look. Some thing you didn't address in the video is what type of mags does it take? To me, that could be a big deal. If it uses common 2011 mags that is a leg up over the Bull. I'm also curious about how it runs. If it runs flawlessly then it would beat out the Springfield which has had a very rough start sadly. I also noticed that the main spring housing is bobbed, that's nice for CCW. I would be interested to know how well it runs! I like that there are more 2011 options coming out in the $1500 price point. That's always a good thing for us consumers!

      Depends. If I was going to try and conceal carry it - I would choose the Kimber. If it was for home defense and range use -I would choose the Prodigy. It also depends on your body size. The reason it's not direct mount and they use plates is because you can put a RMR plate on it or a RMSc plate which have different screw and lug locations. The slide isn't milled for a specific optic. The only company to solve this issue is Springfield armory with their echelon.
    I'm looking forward to comparing this to the shadow 2 compact soon. Only huge knock against this gun I can see is the lack of pic rail. That just doesn't make any sense on a carry gun.

    • @RidersRange
      @RidersRange Год назад +1

      We may have to agree to disagree on the rail. In my experience (38 years in Law Enforcement and more than 40 years as an instructor), there is no reason to have a rail on a concealed carry gun for civilians - police officers and security officers, yes, but not civilians. Use a handheld light to identify your target, but if you use a weapon-mounted light to identify your target, you may be committing a felony. After you have identified your target with a handheld light, you don't need a light on your gun to engage your target. That's just my opinion, but it is shared with many other notable experts.

    • @maximusjoseppi5904
      @maximusjoseppi5904 Год назад +2

      @@RidersRange haha... ok, so i mean no offense, but while you thought you were establishing yourself as an educational authority you were actually just explaining why you are incorrect.
      as a fellow instructor, who has trained with some of the best, most well known instructors in the country who train our highest level of professionals and civilians... you should have a weapon light on your gun. especially a civilian.
      expecting a civilian to be able to accurately and effectively manipulate a handheld light while also shooting effectively one handed is absurd. they also, simply, will not do it. they will not carry a gun and a light.
      the fact is, you lived and were trained differently than modern standards because you didnt have an option. modern tech and tactics and handling have far surpassed the clumsy handling of the past. you didnt have the availability of an effective compact weapon mounted light so you learned a less effective method by todays standards and as such, are teaching dated information. you probably worked for the first part of your career with a revolver.. guns didnt even have picatinny rail on them for 15-20 years after you started working.
      at the bare minimum, you should always have a weapon mounted light AND if you like, carry a handheld light as well. this gives you the option to investigate with a handheld if needed and drop that stupid thing for your weapon mounted light to effectively engage a threat if required. good modern weapon lights add almost zero bulk or weight to your gun. theres no reason not to have one on your gun.
      not that you will change, but thats the correct modern way to do things my old friend.
      this same complication occurs when old instructors try to justify iron sights on handguns and say they are better than optics. we have far better access to technology today and it is simply objectively better than previous methods.

If you have a LPVO you have an etched in BDC or at least the aiming point.Sure you wont have illummination, but you still can shoot with it. I dont even turn mine on half the time. I do prefer an Eotech and a magnifier but the battery is a real thing. Most LVPO will last forever ,a red dot will not.Good vid, peace..

    Got one and is trash. A glorified Beretta M9. Returned it in less than 24 hours. Traded a Springfield Ronin EMP that was hands down better in every way except magazine capacity. Shot better, smoother, sights and trigger were better. I was so disappointed and Kimber does not give you an optic plate either. You have to spend an additional $130 for an optic plate!!!! $1400 for a pistol and can’t throw in a plate. I can’t deal with greed. I had a Taurus TH9C and went shot for shot with this Kimber in accuracy and reliability and everything in between. The Taurus was on par with the Kimber, no lie. Taurus locked up 1 time shooting Nosler 147gr JHP, which was the only issue, which it also did in my Gl19 gen 3. Other than that, Taurus outshot the Kimber and I was shooting on a rest. I believe I got a lemon. The accuracy is abt 5-10 MOA at 10yds depending on ammo. I think this one slipped through their Quality checks, but I will never know. I am not spending that much money to find out!!! Kimber had 1 shot and blew it!!! Back to Springfield Armory!!!!!
