Thank u very much for your kind words! I try hard to have an extended wrist shot since the reality is many people make decisions about a watch without ever seeing it, much less trying it on. I certainly do.
Enjoyed this video very much! I have to agree that for under $7k preowned this watch cannot be beat. Just got one and it’s been on my grail list for a very long time.
You have my respect simply by being a Hublot owner like myself and not giving a crap about what people may say about the brand. BTW thanks for the vid in regard to the IWC BP. In terms of that BB it was the watch that helped Hublot become what it is and is iconic in its own right my personal opinion of course.
Right on brother! It’s sad how people sheepishly believe the nonsense that passes for facts in forums and by influencers without ever trying the watch for themselves. Their loss I guess. Hublot makes good watches and some great watches. The Big Bang is the definition of an icon and I’m a fan!
Great video… I like how you show a wrist shot the entire time. I have 17cm wrists and I’m contemplating this one next. My AD knows I prefer smaller watches so he’s trying to steer me to the Pilot 41 Chrono, but there’s something special about the Big Pilot. I’m a sucker for “icons” in the watch world. I struggle with the price of this new though, even if I can score 20-25% off, which I probably can due to purchase shorty, it’s tough.
I understand your concerns, believe me. I would start by saying that I’ve owned several IWC’s over the years and may own several more but the Big Pilot (46) is their best watch by far. See my video on the Pilot Chrono, I’ve had one. Regarding size it’s a personal decision. I’d you can’t “get there” for that reason then there are lots of other choices but remember it’s called the “BIG” Pilot so it’s okay for it to look BIG. Finally regarding price, I bought mine preowned which has advantages and disadvantages. If you can get 20%+ off MSRP buying from an AD and simultaneously advance your relationship it’s hard to imagine a better watch at that price.
Thanks for the honest review of the IWC BP. It really gives you that unique wrist presence whenever you are wearing it. Still prefer the 5002/5004/5009 references over the current ones they are releasing. Not sure if you have the same experience but after wearing this, it is so hard to switch to a smaller sized dial… simple, legible and functional.. hard to beat... More power to your channel…
Thank you very much for the kind words! I completely agree that the “classic” versions of the BP are superior to the smaller current watch. The new one is great no doubt but it is NOT (and will never be) a “Big Pilot”.
@@soundsoserious I was on two different lists for it. One in New York, one in Houston. I got the call for the watch being available in Houston 1/2 a day before I got my call from NY and had already purchased the watch. I was told 6mo-8mo wait for the watch, but got the call in like 3mo-4mo. The ceramic case mixed with the titanium hardware on the Mojave makes it wear pretty fantastic on wrist (4.8oz). Not a single complaint!
@@trevorgerland2254lol awesome intel! I think the critical thing for that watch is the perfect FDE color of the case…i hope IWC keeps that color “special” and doesn’t overproduce it…
man, you got the coolest watch on the planet....been hesitating for years if I should get one....got the Big Pilot 43 in the meantime....but can´t get the 46 out of my head, still afraid it would be too large too uncomfortable on my wrist (18 cm).... tough decision to make :-)
I’ve tried the red gold version of the Big Pilot. Surprisingly it hugs the wrist well. The 43 mm felt really good on wrist but the 46 feels just...Big Pilot. I would prefer the 43 to have at least jumping hour function though to separate from the Mark.
I haven’t tried the 43 but tbh I had no interest in seeking one out when I was hunting my BP. As you say the watch hugs the wrist remarkably well and it’s a pity more folks don’t give it a try. The red gold must be like the infinity gauntlet. A universe ending weapon of mass destruction.
I agree with this sentiment. I have been agonizing about the 43 or the 46 Monopusher. End of the day the 46 feels top heavy and not nearly as comfortable, but it just feels more proper on the wrist. The 43 offers incredibly flexibility with the quick change system for the straps, and the bracelet, the face is super clean. But the irrational nature of the 46 just makes me want it more.
Beautiful watch. From a manufacturing standpoint, do you think it is worth the money? I bought a Seiko SBDC071 PADI dive watch with a 6R15 movement and even a clear diamond coating to reduce scratching. It listed for $850. What do you think makes the IWC 8 times more expensive?
Tough question! As you can see from my channel I have watches at all different prices in my collection. From cheap G-Shocks to pricey IWC’s and everything in between. I think they all offer something of interest and value to someone that loves watches. I wouldn’t say the IWC is “better” than your Seiko. There’s room for both. ^_^
I haven’t but really want to see one in the metal. Seems like a nice watch. I read a story that only Zenith of all brands can legally use the word “Pilot” on the dial due to some copyright thing in the distant past.
I know it’s so nice isn’t it? It came with the watch and the owner didn’t recall where he got it either. I’ve scoured the inter webs for something similar for months.!
@@soundsoserious have you had a chance to look at/try on the new 43mm version? If so, what do you think? I do prefer the more interesting dial of the 46mm but the 43mm case size is tempting. Some have said the 43mm version is more like a bigger Mark XVIII rather than a smaller Big Pilot.
@@ronniep9272 have not seen the 43mm version yet but by all reports it’s a home run, kind of wish they hadn’t called it the “big pilot” as it makes it a little confusing since they are two very different watches with the same name; looking forward to seeing the watch but it’s the 46 and a pirate’s life for me Arrrrrr! :)
