The fact that the initial squad up was like 10 or 11 years ago and these two are still producing content together is a lovely thing. Internet friends can be real friends.
I'm glad I've found this podcast. I just like listening to you fellas talk about video games.
you know what, it is so good to watch and listen to you guys. I am following you since the Bf3 days, so listen to you talking with each other feels so familiar and comfy. It reminds me how people used to tread each other, nicely and appreciative. It feels very good to witness that there are still nice people out there, especially during this time, where everyone seems to hate everybody else. Since I have a similar approach regarding personal relationships it feels like being connected to you and I would really love to meet you in real life.
We should be more like these to buddies - please continue spreading love and kindness.

The only microtransaction that is whole unnecessary that I would by again in an instant is the call of duty voice of packs from Ghosts. I need Ice cube and Snoop telling me to do better and that I'm shit. I would actually consider buying a call of duty again for that specifically

Not sure if Matt's read the books for the 3 Body Problem, but while the show is pretty similar to the books, it does take some liberties. The books are a lot harder sci fi and the show dumbed down and changed a lot of the characters and storylines so it made more sense for a mainstream audience. For example, the books take place almost entirely in China and almost all characters are Chinese due to the author being Chinese (The show is set in the UK with mostly English and Americans). In the books, the protagonist of the first and second books are 2 different people completely unrelated for each other, one isn't even a scientist. But in the show the protagonists are all super smart scientist friends. It works, it's just different. Some of the things in the show seem weird or cheap and they feel that way because season 1 doesn't really end up explaining why unfortunately. But there are valid reasons that things are happening the way they are.
But the books are quite good and if you're a hard Sci Fi fan I seriously recommend them. They start of pretty standard but interesting in the first book and ends up being like a super surreal Interstellar kind of crazy scale by the third book. It's a pretty interesting and mind churning series.

Just wait until AI tech can build realistic 3d models directly on request. You won't even have to buy assets. Not long after that you'll be able to build entire scenes just with a few lines of text to describe them.
I had to stop at the 1 hour mark because I plan to watch "3 Body Problem" and didn't want any spoilers.

I agree the response of hate for these when so many people are misinformed around them is unnecessary.
Everything you can buy with micro transactions can also readily be obtained by playing the game for a few hours, AND even better equipment NOT listed in micros.
If people would like to not play the game because they are there, well, to each their own, but shitty corporate shareholders, boards, and CEO's are going to force devs to have more ongoing revenue streams as they see other companies doing similar shitty micros.
Play the game or not. I think it's as good as Elden Ring
People not playing DD2 because of the internet outrage are really missing out on a fantastic game.

I get that microtransactions aren't good but the ones in dragons dogma 2 have been so non offending compared to other games why did everyone everyone jump on dd2?
Also the port crystals are maxed out at I believe 10 and you can get all of that in the game making the mtx one at best an early extra teleport spot.

I'll be honest, if it wasn't for the overblown negativity surrounding the ones in DD2 I probably wouldn't of even realised there are MTX's in-game. There's literally no signposting for them once you're in the game
Single player. Microtransactions are commonplace in multiplayer games now whether we like it or not, but people don't want the same fate for their single player game experiences. I feel like the stigma around things like the skyrim horse armor are gone, people don't care if you add some DLC skins for the most part, but when you start adding the ability to buy end game items that allow you to revive yourself mid fight it gets to be a bit much. Then ask yourself where are we heading if we allow this to be acceptable? You may see people "overreacting" but they are just trying to protect the integrity of single player games going forward.
The difference between it and others is that they were extremely hyped for it and felt betrayed.
It's selective outrage imo. .99-1.99 purchases, and then genshin impact exists. Not to mention DD2 is single player.
The micro transactions while dumb have zero affect of the game, i have 6 ferrystones entering balaal or w/e. Had the game launched as is without the mtc no one would be saying anything about the ingame content
Bungie needs to focus on the future of destiny and that’s it. No one wants marathon or matter or any other uninspired shit ip they are making.
just don't buy the microtransactions in DD2, they're not needed to play the game, they aren't cheats, they're all items accessible in the game at a very early point, it's there just to appease their corpo overlords who need to "capitalise" on their products, they've made a fantastic game, don't kill a developer because their publishers are corporate drones
