Man, the nineties were da s**t! I was in high school and into punk rock, but even as a young teen, I knew this grunge sound and these bands were something special. When I heard Soundgarden, I was quick to get my guitar and jam along to their songs, trying to learn them, just like with Nirvana. Then I heard STP, and again really got into them, as well. And we got to talking about Chris dying there and she said they ripped the room bare. Pulling up the carpet, tile, and stripping away the wallpaper and repainting. Threw out all of the furniture and bed. Then the sealed it up. They had so many requests from crazy people and fans wanting to book the room. The management decided not to book the room and let it sit empty for years until it died down.

Nirvana was the only grunge band. SoundGarden, pearl jam(who just sucked anyway) stone temple pilots, Alice in chains.. etc were not grunge, they were just 'alternative rock n roll'. But! The Melvins deserve an honorable mention. As do smashing pumpkins, while not technically grunge they were doing their own thing from like 1988 until 1996 I think is when they put out the Mellon Collie record.🤓🙃
