I don't think that the phraseology of being "fooled" is correct, specifically as it relates to writing poetry and songs which are pretty much synonyms. It's just that Cornell's interpretation of life and translation of his experiences seem to have contrasted with the perspectives of many people who aren't used to allegorical, hyperbolic or even figurative language in general.

Methodically sophisticated explains soundgarden to a tee. Some of their songs are led zeppelin tuned down and hard as fuck, some is straight grunge. Kim Thayil is a guitar god in my opinion. But Ben Shepard and Matt Cameron are what gives them the sabbath feel. Fast and melodic or just melodic and rough. I love soundgarden so much and I missed every opportunity to see them because heroin.

I honestly understood the not wanting to listen to music or have anything to do with it once your band is over. Happened to me when I was 23-24 where I just fell into a deep depression and took me around 4 years to get back into it but even then it wasn't the same. I wasted so much time sulking, I should have just continued doing what I was doing 😂

Idk how anyone can be fooled by those lyrics. For all of the Seattle guys lyrics for that matter. They told us from the very beginning what was playing in their heads. We all talk about layne but Jerry has some deep dark shit going on up there and I’m just glad he’s still here with us. And unfortunately many of us can relate but their burden gave people like me comfort in knowing that we were not alone
