    Would it be possible to put the batting and backing on as you sew the scraps on and trim them all ? Thanks.

    Since I am so new to quilting now I know to not throw away my scraps. Do the scraps all have to be quilting cottons?

    • @sewcharmingquiltshop
      @sewcharmingquiltshop  5 месяцев назад

      Not necessarily. In old days they used polyester and whatever else they had. They all work. 100% cotton is the best though.

    Didn’t they used to use paper for the square they pieced the scraps on? You explain how to do these so even I understand.

      Thank you. And yes, you can use newspaper or telephone book pages instead of the fabric. I just chose to use the cuts I found in my scrap bin instead.

    Where did you find the scissors you are using?

    I see you don't backstitch is that not needed..

      I’ve never had a problem with it. Doesn’t mean I won’t one day but I’ve been sewing for many years and it’s worked thus far. Some things I do though.

      Typically im quilting, backstitch is not strictly neccesary. Each seam is usually crossed over by another seam and that holds them all together. Some quilters do backstitch out of preference, or out of habit if they learned garment sewing 1st.
