- Heading west on the Eastern Erie Canal. Amazing sights of small towns. Seeing the rural area of New York along the canal with plenty of birds of prey and even saw a deer on the side of the river.

Scotia Freedom Park with water and electricity $30-$35.00 leaving the money in the lock box at the park sign.

Rome Bellamy Harbor Park.
Wall no water or electricity. Be careful here several boats have been boarded day and night by strangers. Take lines back to the boat for safety as well. We had no issues. Walked to Fort Stanwix National Monument and downtown.
Wall at Sylvan Beach no utilities. We stayed east of the bridge. Nice area to walk to the town and beach.
Brewerton town dock with 50amp electric. The marinas are not happy that we stayed here for free. Had blacklash after purchasing $1400.00 gallons of fuel from the local marina everyone likes but not utilizing their docks for mooring

Thanks for another fine video recording your peaceful transit of the eastern end of the Erie. I do not recall anywhere near the number of floating logs you have encountered when we did the Erie Canal more than a decade ago. It may have changed, but when we walked through Amsterdam it was the only place on the Erie Canal where we felt a little uncomfortable. Although many of the towns along the Erie Canal were a bit worn, virtually all of them felt totally safe.
Glad you enjoyed it. Scotia and Amsterdam were comfortable place to walk. Several boaters have had issues with Rome. Guess uninvited strangers boarding boats usually at night. We didn’t have any issues.
Late May and early June there was a lot of logs and debris floating in the canal. Several boats had extensive damage. We saw a lot of logs the day after a torrential downpour and tornado between Rome and Sylvan Beach. Guess run off caused high water to float the logs along the banks. We would see piles of logs near the locks. NY Canal workers must remove them from the water way. Thanks for watching.
I also am surprised at all the flotsam in the water. We did not experience that also. Nice video.
There is a lot of debris not only logs, tree branches, and sticks. The next video I was surprised to see a raccoon that must have fallen in the water. I rescued a pigeon that was in the sea grass next to the boat. I dried him off and left the bird in an open box overnight. The next morning the bird was no longer on the aft cockpit. Several hours later I was working the stern line at a lock and out from under the ladder the pigeon walks out. After the lock he took off. In Peterborough the boat in front of us ran over floating clothing. It fouled their props. Glad they were near the blue line at the Lift lock since they lost power and steering. They had to physically remove the blanket or coat. Someone must have just thrown it in the canal. Trent-Severn Waterway had less logs floating. Thanks for watching
