Slowly we went until South Haven and Lake Michigan started to get angry again so we headed to Michigan City and waited it out for a week. Celebrated a birthday and said goodbye to family. Looking down from 15 feet they looked big. We figured out our water tank was low and so was the fuel tank. We took on 500 gallons of water and 650 gallons of fuel and she rode so much better. Just needed some more ballast.

We had a wonderful time. So glad we were able to visit family on our travels.

We use the long blast when leaving out of a busy marina or an area with a lot of traffic. Just to protect us. Just once in a while. Long blast was one of the best memories pulling away from the Coast Guard when I was in my 20’s. Usually rushing out for a rescue. 🛟. Thanks for watching

@@UnderwayDriftingNDreaming Don't know who's video I was watching, but there's an anchorage on Florida west coast, Tampa to Sarasota, that the residents don't like people anchoring there and shine spotlights at the boat during the night to show their displeasure. That would be the perfect place for the long blast at 0400 getting underway. No, I'm not petty

There are comments on suggested anchorage that neighbors will use air horns, turn on loud music or shine lights. We never had a problem yet.

I haven’t had that issue. I watch a lot of Great Loop videos streaming on the tv.

Michigan is absolutely beautiful. I grew up on the east side of the state and never visited the towns along the west coast. That’s so cool you sold food to fishermen. I’m sure they were happy to see you. We saw some many boats out salmon fishing from Manistee down to Grand Haven. Thanks for watching

I learned how to drive boats in the 80’s with a compass, stop watch, charts, loran c and a radar that had a hood. Being away from boating for thirty years I was handed the “clicker” to steer the boat, iPad for the charts and so much more. It was overwhelming we could see fish swimming under the boat. How the world of navigation had changed. If the lights go out I know how to navigate on. Thanks for watching

We had a great time. Thanks for watching. Friday I’ll have the northern ports on the west coast of Lake Michigan we travel through.

When I was younger I would say “Let’s go play in the waves”. Now anything more than four isn’t fun. Those were 3-4ft but one after another. Today we have some big waves at the southern end of Lake Michigan, eight plus feet.

We are living aboard currently on the Great Loop. The Great Lakes sea state changes quickly. We are in 4 to 6 seas now. Just 90 more minutes of pitching up and down. Sometimes forecast is correct not today.

At least the sun is shining. Just 8 miles to go to the dock.

Good thing Jim and I work well together. Usually I deal with stressful situations and move on. I guess I meet my breaking point. 🤯

They were traveling the Trent-Severn Waterway with 42 locks. We left our fenders out the entire 240 miles on the canal system. We had three rigged on each side. I had an extra ball fender I would reposition on the bow at each lock. Seventy percent of the time it was a port side tie at the lock. My fender covers will need to be replaced when we arrive in Texas due to the wear and tear through the locks. 🪡 🧵 Thanks for watching.

You are correct. If the anchor is not planted on the bottom scope is not going to help. Rock bottoms you need to snag a lip or crack which maybe alright in calm no current short term situation. We have a big sail area and are heavy. Future anchoring will be in mud and sand. The boat across from us had two stern lines to the rocks and the anchor down. The local boats were side tide to the rock wall with boats rafting off each other. All others were in the main channel and that’s where we found a good holding. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching. We miss our stern lift. The platform 3x3 “elevator”replaced the spiral staircase. This was an original design in the factory. Both the stern and the “elevator” are on separate independent hydraulic systems. The hydraulic room is located in a small maintenance room behind the master’s port closet. The lift was made in the States and installed at delivery. The entire boat was integrated for mobility accessibly for a wheelchair. We have the original drafting design from the 90’s. Spring of 2025 we will have a swim platform installed. Another 48 Kadey-Krogen will be replacing their platform with a new one with staples. They are waiting for it to ship with the next ship delivery. Glacier Ice! Sounds interesting

Echo Bay was my favorite anchorage of the Georgian Bay. We had lunch at Henry’s. We arrived when another Kadey Krogen was docking. Made new friends over fried fish. We did not see the float planes land in San Souci. Anchored in Kilcourse Bay and to the tender to Perry. There were a lot of sea planes there. Thanks for watching.

It was the best weather

Not sure why they weren’t at the station. Love seeing the CG boats. Morning checks at 7am. So no sleeping in. It was so much fun kayaking with my sister. I fell in three times before leaving the dock before sunrise in 47° air temperatures

Beautiful cruising waters. We spent 16 days on the Georgian Bay. After our anchor dragged and I was by myself on the boat. I was done. A sea story for later.
