Almost 70 ...I have the fondest memory of my grandmother crocheting doily's. I was about 6-7 when I learned how sweet those doilies were as she starched them with sugar water to stiffen. I used to work them over to the edge of the tables and suck on them for their sweetness. Grandmother would catch me and sit me down in front of her, and that was how I learned to finger crochet. At about 9 I made my first doily. The other thing that worked out great was that my grandmother was right-handed and I left-handed. Sitting directly Infront of her as I learned was so awesome. Still making doilies to this day. Also, my grandmother's oldest son was in the military and would mail her home doilies he found while in Europe. She would take them apart to learn the stitches, write them down and then remake and save the patterns for me and her friends. Grandmother passed in 1972 and how I miss her so today yet cherish all that I learned of the old ways.
What wonderful stories! Thanks for sharing.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing
Your vlogs are the epitome of ASMR Chelsea.
I’m so glad they can bring some peace.♥️
Little Mountain Ranch,
Homesteading with the Zimmermans and Flower Hill Farms are my favorite channels for sure on RUclips. These three women are amazing and definitely deserve all the support we can give them.
Thank you Chelsea for sharing your beautiful farm life with all of us you truly are a gift. 💗
Thank you so much.♥️♥️♥️
So many Utube cooks walk us through the process (ingredients, measurements, etc.) but I find Chelsea is one of the few that explain the ‘why’ (and the do’s and don’ts) behind the process. 😍🇨🇦
I appreciate that too. And no matter how loud her sheep are, I find Chelsea's videos to be so relaxing because you can see the passion behind the projects whether or not they were fun or turned out as intended.
I get such a kick out of the old recipes that say, ".. bake in a hot oven." NO temp, no time, no description of the finished product. But still old cookbooks are like a history lesson of the area they come from. Thank you, Chelsea, for sharing today
I can only just try to imagine what an alfredo dinner must taste like when every single ingredient is home grown, homemade, home “milked” (minus, of course the flour, salt, oatmeal & yeast). Ohh, dear….my brain is drooling…😋. What an incredible nutritional blessing your children are receiving as their bodies grow 🥰💝
One idea for making extra-cozy slippers is to knit or crochet a larger size, but then to work in tufts of wool to go on the inside of the slippers as a really fluffy lining. Depending on how thick you make the fluffy inner part, the slippers can be almost too warm to wear, but I'm sure you can find a happy medium where you get warm fluffy slippers that are comfortable.
Chelsea (Ruth Ann) over at Homesteading with the Zimmermans she runs her pasta thru and flatten it out the she uses an Iron (the kind you iron clothes with) and she drys out her sheets before running it thru the cutting process
When I was growing up we had a wool filled, comforter, it was so nice and warm, maybe that is good thing to make with some of that fleece.
'Please consider purchasing this antique drum washer with wringers on top for the fleece.' It is very big! It might help!!
For oatmeal bread, you can also use a like amount of cooked (leftover) old fashioned oats, or even cooked steel cut oats! You may need to add a bit less liquid, but it's a great way to use up leftover cooked oatmeal
On Danu’s Irish Gardens, RUclips, she puts unwanted sheep fleece in her gardens for fertilizer & mulch. Thanks for sharing your interesting & beautiful life with us! The food is fabulous & you make it look so easy. Blessings to all 🤗🇨🇦
I live full time in a 5th wheel RV. When packing for this adventure I included my Kitchen Aid pasta attachment. I thought with our relaxed lifestyle my husband and I could maybe make pasta together. We did , once. So I had been debating getting rid of the attachment, its heavy and the less extra weight we haul around the better . But after watching you effortlessly cranking out delicious pasta, I think I will give it a second try!!
You are inspiring!!
😊 LauraD
Chelsea I have been making pasta for years and I saw something I had never seen before . so drying your noodles before cutting is essential for them to cut nice however I was watching Homesteading with the Zimmermans and she actually took an iron to the noodles I was blown away but I tried it and goodness it worked so great just thought I would let you know. oh and what beautiful Flowers!!!!
Little Mountain Ranch,
Homesteading with the Zimmermans and Flower Hill Farms are my favorite channels for sure on RUclips. These three women are amazing.
Thank you Chelsea for sharing your beautiful farm life with all of us you truly are a gift. 💗
Nothing better than hot bread right out of the oven!!!!
Yes! I have some in the oven right now.
I recently watched a video on Homesteading With the Zimmerman where she actually ironed the sheets of pasta to partially dry them before cutting.
Me too. That was so interesting. Wonderful channel.
I watched that too and I thought that was super interesting. I'm used to seeing people put a ceiling fan on before but not ironing
I did too.
Mee too!
Me too!
You can use undesirable fleeces as mulch in your garden.
Yum! The flowers next to your stove are beautiful!
That garlic presser is the best one ever made 💖
What a FUN video…
So true and so grateful that Oakley didn’t get the skunk.. you definitely would have smelled it…
SO darling watching him and the cow .. best friends there…💚
Oh how I love those sheep … they have the cutest faces.. (all of them)yay for primm … 👍
When looking at your Ram his coat seems like it is more short and matted .. I’m probably totally wrong..
Chelsea you are so blessed ..watching you pet the little ones was so heart warming… I wanted to be right there but this was the next best thing!
I’m recovering from a knee revision so this has been great therapy to watch you and your daily life…
I thought I was a pretty good cook untill I’ve been watching you… oh man I have a lot to learn but I’m almost 70 so I Better hurry ☺️
Thank you Chelsea as I’ve said before you love life and it shows..
Sending love and sunshine

Chelsea, I have seen where someone used wool in a mix for their seed starting mix. I don't know if this is something that is actually useful but I thought I'd mention it so you could look into it. If you can't salvage the fleeces from this year for fiber arts, it could be something to do with it.
I used to raise sheep. I loved sending them to the mill and would have pillows and duvet liners for quilts I would make.
Chelsea I remember my mom using cake yeast and grew up using it for a couple years when I was learning to cook. Then the little yeast packages came out and you could buy 6 packages at a time. Now (inflation)I think you buy 2 at a time. I buy in bulk and have for years. I enjoy the old cookbooks you cook from. Thanks so much Cheryl
Chelsea!!! I was so thrilled about the Amish Cooking cookbook. My wife has a couple Amish cookbooks among her plethora of cookbooks. Since we live in PA, I decided to search for a copy. I found it on eBay and snatched it up. It arrived today and we are looking forward to trying this new source of good home cooking! Thanks for sharing it!
Hi Chelsea hope u are having a great day your cooking looks so good to eat through my screen your animals are the best they are lucky to have u Marla is so adorable and cuddly
Yum Yum!!! Inspired me for next weeks menu🤗😋 Happy your sheep are doing so good!!🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑
Suggestion: I freeze my peeled garlic cloves. I take a couple out, they thaw in a very short time. Then use a dull knife and 'smoosh' them (ha, not a real term), making them into a paste and easy to mix into whatever you are making. Yes - garlic and butter smell is wonderful!
Make a rug! Get Dan to make a simple peg loom and weave a lovely warm rug, it's so easy. Happy to send the instructions to you if needed
I would love that! Thank you.
Those baby lambs are really growing!
I used to collect antique doilies and wanted to display them but not on table or dresser tops. I had them pressed between two pieces of glass and then framed. They hang on a dark painted wall and the wonderful shapes and intricate detailing show beautifully. You can do separate small pieces with just one doily or a larger one with 3 or 4 pieces. They suit almost any decor. 😍🇨🇦
what a great idea! My mom has crocheted doilies for decades (to the point that everyone told her "please stop sending me doilies!) but your idea of 2 panes of glass is brilliant! One year, I had her make me 20 different ones. Told her they were for something else, but then used then in the white portions of a snowball pattern quilt and gave it to her for Christmas. The doilies were "snowflakes" that I tacked on the snowball area.
@@lisawallace3124 Lovely idea. 😍🇨🇦
Chels, have you ever watched "Pasta Grannies" on YT? They're so cool. I think they cook like you, very natural.
Happy Tuesday everyone!
The smell of yeast and cinnamon is pretty spectacular too🤤
All the food looked delicious.
Yum the crust please
I love the way you say Pasta, so not American lol love your channel Chelsea
My Mom used cake yeast. They were 3 inches long, 2inches high wrapped in some kind of paper.
Yummsville!!😊
I’ll try to make this short. After the birth of our second daughter (and it was a c-section and wasn’t easy), my husband told me he bought me a present and it would be delivered to the house. I was excited and happy that he was so sweet. The gift came and I excitedly opened it. It was a Pasta Queen pasta maker (exactly like your pasta maker). Well needless to say, this didn’t go down as we expected. I crossed out the Queen and wrote King on the box. Then I put it away. Not even sure when I took it out again to make pasta. And to be fair, it is a good little device for pasta making. After 46 years, I still bring that up from time to time. And then he says, are we having spaghetti for dinner? 🤣🤣❤️ Also, many years ago I had a recycled wool biz and I washed tons of wool in my washer to shrink it (don’t do this if you like your washer). But I did take the lint and make paper from it. It was beautiful. Maybe your dirty wool could be used for some kind of paper? It’s really fun. Thanks Chelsea did another lovely video.
I just grate my fresh garlic, it works very well. I think I will try making whole wheat bread in the next couple of days. This oat bread looks so good.
I just cleaned up the last of the garlic over the weekend and froze it. The garlic in the garden is looking amazing and I can't wait to harvest the new batch. Should have over 500 heads this year! Whoo hoo! Awesome video, Chelsea! That alfredo... I swear I could smell it in my house. So Yummy!
Parmesan way to go with Alfredo!!
You should look into ways to use sheeps wool in your garden! I just learned about this and have read some intriguing info.
That garlic thing is awesome !!!!
I've had that book for years!!! It's am amazing book.
Oh, I love Alfredos of all kinds. I usually add about 1/4 teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg to my cream sauces including Bechamel sauces. So happy the skunk has moved on and is not longer causing problems. The love seeing the lambs with their moms. Thank you for this wonderful video!
I always enjoy your channel! Thanks for sharing your life with us! You make the food look so delicious!😊 Have to try the bread now!!
I agree nothing smells better than garlic cooking in butter :-) Well my mouth is watering for that fettucini. Yumm for sure. I heard Dan when watching you take a bite of the bread saying a big yum man style. And nothing better than warm bread with a hunk of butter. Looks so good. hugs
I’ve had similar experiences with some vintage cookbooks. I’m currently cooking my way through the 1940’s and a lot of the recipes ‘assume’ I know what I’m doing, which isn’t always the case! This bread recipe sounds divine, I look forward to trying it - thanks for sharing! So glad to see the lambs doing so well!
I watched this video last week, and found the bread recipe interesting. I've been having trouble finding a bread recipe that tastes good and they seem to be very bland. I made this recipe this past weekend and I must say, it's the best bread I've made so far (best looking and best tasting). The only difference to your recipe is when to kneed. Thank you for sharing.
I live in Pennsylvania, my lineage is mostly german and pa deutsch back to 1750s. I have a couple old journals that have old recipes passed down thru the generations. My favorite is a shoo fly pie recipe that is atleast 75 years old but hard to judge age. I like reading thru the old recipes and seeing sizes of ingredients based off sizes of walnuts nuts and general items you could find. Also the Temps not based off a thermometer. Im 2 hrs north from lacaster co where most amish are but still plenty in the area noth of there. You can find many great baked items in the area at the Mennonite and amish produce stands. You can't beat homemade tho.
Chelsea I can really relate to any little kitchen tool that makes our jobs in the kitchen quicker and easier. Have you considered getting a mini chopper-I picked up a proctor silex one years ago. So handy for the never ending chopping of onions , carrots etc.
when you dont want to get out a full size food processor. I learn t to cook and preserve from Edna Stablers-Food that Really Smecks! a gift from my mother-in-law many years ago.
I love my garlic press like you have With arthritic hands it doesn’t hurt my hand so bad
I just ordered a book called 'The Foxfire Book of Appalachian Cookery' that you might be interested in. I haven't received it yet but it sounds like it will be really good. There is a foxfire book series about all kinds of different things and how they did things years ago. I've ordered a few and I'm really excited to get them!
Well hello! So happy to see another video today. :)
I have the same garlic press. It is fantastic and easy to clean.
That was fun, thank you!
I love all your videos and look forward to them. I get lots of ideas from your cooking and tips. I don’t know how you do so much! You and Dan are awesome and such hard workers. May God bless you and your family. 🙏
So pleased to see you have the garlic peeling 'sleeve' - isn't it magic?? I tried the press too but it took far too much effort to squeeze through any cloves.
The bread looks great
Yummy, yummy
I love your mixer . And noodles
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤food looks delicious 😋 😍 😊😊😊
Another awesome video.❤❤❤
You crochet better then I do all I made was a jump rope lol
Bread looks delicious will give it a try. Thank you for sharing.
Enjoyed the video 😊
Oh my goodness my mouth is watering…between the bread and the chicken alfredo! Two of my very favorite foods!! ❤️
The ewes fleece that may be too dirty or trashy, could be used as stuffing for quilts, maybe?
i just ordered the cookbook. my sister lives in Amish country in Ohio and i have several Amish cookbooks, so this one will be a nice addition.Thank you.
My mum made socks and mitts to keep us warm
Thank you for sharing all your cooking skills with us . I just love all your videos !😀
My mom washes fleece number of times . Then hung then on the fences .
I know someone that uses her sheep’s wool for a mulch in her garden. I don’t know if I want animal hair that close to my produce, but thought it was interesting.
My ankstrom mixer has instruction that states start with all liquids first then add flour/grains. This machine is strong enough that one should be able to make 20 loaves at a time. I never anticipate doing that many but I could make more and freeze unbaked loaves. You do have an incredible machine.
Romano is very delicious as a parm substitute
oh. you can send your fleeces to be processed.
Chelsea its my understanding that a package of yeast is 21/4 teaspoons of yeast not a tablespoon.
You are right in modern recipes but not in this one.
@@LittleMountainRanch wow that is interesting I never realized it would be different in older recipes…good to know..
I have a old Amish cook book and it doesn’t tell you what temperature to put your oven on. That could be because that baked on wood stoves that doesn’t have a knob for temperature.
You are using the big bread hook today.. what made you choose it over the roller attachment? Mine is unpacked and setup finally. And I am ready to try making a batch of bread today. Thank you for sharing yours with all of us. Would love to see you use it more.
Add a little cream cheese to your Alfredo sauce, game changer
I'm crocheting a temperature blanket right now. I have some catching up to do! I just made it to 3/5/24. I'm 2 weeks behind. Whoops! The blanket is going to be pretty big. I'm crocheting it quite wide.
❤
I love the new editing on your videos! Did you get an editor?
I did! It’s a hybrid of my son and me and a spit and polish editor. My goodness it makes it easier and he’s fantastic!
I'm wondering if you can use your wonderful new mixer for cheese making to stir curds for the 20 mins wile you go do other things lol.
😂
Just a thought, but could you spin the fleece into macrame yarn to make your wall hangings?
You could!
As an Italian ftom Canada … correct pronunciation for ASIAGO , is AH-SEE-AA-GOW
🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
Curious as to why you don’t turn your bread on its sides to cut. I’ve been told bread cuts easier on its side.
Looks like a wonderful recipe! Do you have to use quick cooking oats? I don’t normally use those. Thanks:)
You could use old fashioned but I could run them through a food processor for this recipe.
The dinner looks fabulous. Omg. The dogs may have scared the skunk off without getting sprayed?
Can you use old fashion oats if you don't have quick oats?
Was that just unbleached flour in the bread? Bread recipe looks like a winner! Wondering if you can use cooked oatmeal if you don't have instant on hand ? Glad to see lambs doing so well!
Whole-wheat and unbleached.
😁👍
Do you dock your sheep tails?
Who is author of the cookbook?? Thanks.
🌺👍🌺👍🌺👍
Just curious, could you have kneaded the bread in your new machine?
I could have put it back in but didn’t want to wash it. Lol
Just wondering if you have thought about getting the same square bread loaf tin that Racheal from 1870s homestead? Might be better for your large family
I haven’t found one that isn’t aluminum and I try to stay away from it when I can.
@@LittleMountainRanch ahhh ok. Well that makes sense. Hopefully you will be able to find one you’re happy with.
@@LittleMountainRanchI think the Pullman pans are actually steel.
I’ve never heard of quick rising oats before, maybe I heard it wrong?
Quick cooking oats
