As someone who's only ever had PS consoles. The Xbox controller imo is just superior, I can connect it to almost everything via Bluetooth.

@@PK88. I also just find the Xbox controller more comfortable and natural as well. I started on ps then later went to Xbox, and until the ps5 came out, I thought the PS controllers were wide feeling, and I like the joystick layout of the Xbox better

I'm simply sharing information! What people choose to do with it is their own prerogative. :)
You would benefit greatly from having both Yuzu and Ryujinx, since games will have different performance for both emulators. Plus the firmware and keys from Ryujinx can be used for Yuzu and vice versa.

Just for funzies, I believe the file type you referred to for a firmware update, ".NCI" (it's actually an ".nci" in all caps not and NCL) just wanted to make that clear so people searching online are naming the file type correctly. Otherwise everything was great info...

@@SciZzurs nobody is equipped for Nintendo's legal team. They don't even have to win to ruin your life. Also, they've been striking content for just showing Nintendo game play. I've been around for a while and seen people in the emulation scene go down hard. Hoping this doesn't happen to RGT but it's very possible. pointcrow nearly lost his YT account for mods. This is straight up how to emulate the Switch when Nintendo is taking down everything to do with it.

@@RGT85 Hey, my gpu usage is very low, my cpu and ram usage is around 50%. Why does the framerate go all over the place, particularly when there are a lot of animated characters on screen.

@@technicmachine It's showing 50% CPU usage, but it's actually 100% on one of the cores. Not all CPU usage is picked up by hardware monitors, especially if you're not looking at every core. The solution is to wait for them to optimize the emulator better, or get a faster CPU(which might require a motherboard upgrade).

only thing i would do differently here, is i would max out anisotropic filtering. it makes a big difference for the textures
Fun fact. If you have a modded switch then dumping the firmware and titlekeys is done on install. And there's no legal issues because it's from your own system

XCI (not XCL) is a full dump of a game cartridge. NSP is a digital game file, and NSZ is a compressed game file. If you install a XCI it becomes a NSP file which you can then export and also install.

@@MortalKombatMW3you can just google the game name and put nsp or xci at the end and you’ll find plenty of websites. You will probably have to go through a few weird steps like waiting and scrolling to find continue but you’ll get to the download eventually.
@@MortalKombatMW3 for real it’s so hard to find, i sold my switch for a steam deck so I could play pc, switch, and other emulators all in one place on the go, but nope. Can’t find a single place to download switch games and it makes me slightly regret my choices

XCI game files are cartridge dumps, NSP are the equivalent of eShop titles. If you install an XCI file it has to convert to NSP internally first, I believe.
It doesn't have to be converted but you are right...I have the XCI version but some people say they have the NSP version...I prefer the XCI version because I have a modded switch...but be careful some NSP files are modified.

As another commenter pointed out, emulators are perfectly legal as you can own the game and dump it and use it however you see fit as you’ve paid for it. Distributing roms on the other hand.

This is actually really smart because as long as you do use this legally, every switch game you own can legally be backed up for preservation. The Switch is such a popular console that I see a lot of people who don't normally emulate using this for preservation which is an excellent thing. The Switch might end up being the most preserved console library of all time because of this lol.
"preservation". The Switch emulation scene is 99% piracy, exactly like the homebrew scene.
Actually coincidentally, all of the games I’ve wanted to emulate just so happen to be one’s I do actually own. Which I think is pretty funny

If everyone who plays modded games diligently bought the game from Nintendo - then thats great.. but unfort they don't - the vast majority download the game neatly avoiding buying a Switch or sending any money to Nintendo or the developers - most of them have never even owned a Nintendo console. Thats why its piracy and needs to be stopped and there needs to be rules in place. Also why Nintendo havent put in anything to block emulation is a complete mystery.. Its baffling. Ill be playing it when my preordered legit game arrives - as I like to support the company that makes the games I love.

Just want to say this is a really great tutorial. I especially loved the fact that you specified why you couldn't say where to get the prodkeys and firmware. All the other tutorials just said that they couldn't say where to get them.
I'm not worried about doing this...nor do I think my PC can handle it (and my Switch itself is perfectly fine), but I just came to give this video a view and a like because I fully support the snap back at corporations who get all pissy at people doing stuff like this.
Pretty cool stuff. As a creator I couldnt emulate modern games and still enjoy it but as someone who is so sick of there legal dept and anti consumer practices I do enjoy seeing Nintendo lose some control even if they do make the funnest games imo.

I am currently running an RTX3060, Ryzen 7 5700G, 32g ram, on an asus Prime motherboard, I've got a 3080 on its way so I'm looking forward to cranking this up to 4k, I played the intro on my Switch and decided I'm going to play it on something that can play it comfortably at 60fps and look like it came out in 2020 not 2006 (the switch is basically as powerful as a PS3/360) thanks for the video 😁

Thank you for this! Just wish it came a bit sooner. I wanted to play through BotW again and figured I should get an emulated version for a better experience, but the yuzu process was pretty complicated and I pretty much hit a wall when the guide said I needed a hacked switch. My switch is all above ground and updated properly so I figured I was just out of luck.
Congrats that you solved your problem, and you probaly know this next bit, but I found CEMU to be easier for BOTW. Was there any extra gameplay for switch that the wii U did not get?

hey just use wii U USB helper for botw, runs flawlessly. I get around 150 fps at 2k and settings turned up a bit

I have a steam deck. I would love to get emulation running so I can play old games like Rouge Squadron, Xenogears, Ehrgeiz, Road Rash... some of the games I love or never got to beat. I have to many kids, a job, and I dont have the time to learn this stuff....
Watch "emudeck" by retro game corps. Took me about an hour or two to get everything going. Lots of help on reddit if you get stuck or have questions. Most of my questions were already asked and answered, just had to browse the old google.

Thanks for this. I got my pc to emulate Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. The only thing is despite having a GTX 1080 I routinely get in the low 20s fps.
