Hi ladies, thanks for your brilliant videos. Please can you teach some simple method to teach a child himself. My 3.5 year old boy knows me and dad, sister, but he doesn't know himself when I show his picture. He doesn't have idea about his existence

Hi, thank you for reaching out! We would encourage breaking the skill down by first teaching him his name and his picture receptively (eg: teaching him to respond and give the correct picture when you say his name - you might have to prompt him fully in the beginning and fade back the prompts once he has built fluency). We would then generalise this by perhaps using a mirror and labelling his name whenever he is infront of the mirror. We could also incorporate play activities utlising a mirror such as touching body parts or making silly faces in front of the mirror.
We hope these are helpful. Should you require further support, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at enquiries@autismmalaysia.com and our team will be able to discuss more specific strategy for your child! Thank you!
