      Aside from the excessive overheating from the angle grinder... Especially taking the angle grinder directly to the toe and heel to reshape the bitting. You can't tell me that didn't mess up the heat treatment. Nor did he actually reprofile the blade. Not that it will keep an edge, because of probably ruining the heat treatment.

    Meanwhile, the ax is beautiful, then I wanted to ask a question but how do you do the procedure at 6:10? like that kind of gray duct tape what's its name? how do you heat the metal to do this? And finally, what metal is the ax?

    • @jammesworkshop9721

    • @jammesworkshop9721
      @jammesworkshop9721  2 года назад

      Hi, sorry for the late response , the engraving process is called “electro etching” . The tape is used to protect the part that you don’t want to be affected , I’ll try to make a video explaining the process but you can find it already on RUclips

    This is awesome! My friend and I just found a tree that has a really cool design, I was thinking if the wood was too small could we either mold the axe or are there different sizes of them?

    • @jammesworkshop9721
      @jammesworkshop9721  3 года назад

      Hi Joe, yes, you can find diferent axe sizes. If you really want to use that wood even realizing its too small the best solution would be finding an axe that fit in proportion

    • @jammesworkshop9721
      @jammesworkshop9721  2 года назад +1

      The axe has already a heat treatment so if you avoid to heat to much while reshaping the edge you shouldn’t affect the heat treatment. The easy way is to cool the piece with water

    Nice looking axe! Did you use a cricut or similar for the resist and was it normal vinyl? I've dabbled with this as a hobby and have used an old car battery charger and dunked the whole axe in saltwater. It takes about 45 minutes to loose about 1 or 2mm. Your etch seems deeper and more pronounced. Is that because of a higher amperage? So many questions. This is fun stuff. Keep up the good work. You've got another subscriber👍
