I’m so glad that you made this instructional video. I was stressing over how to take my bike onto the light rail and commuter train, and now all my fears are gone. I love how you demonstrated each detailed maneuver. Very informative. Plus, I would have never thought to look for the bicycle labels on the ground. You saved me from what could have been, an embarrassing newbie rider mistake. Thanks!🙂
THAAAAAANK YOU. Rode my bike 13 miles to work today and planned on taking the bus back, but I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing. Appreciate the clear and concise video. Denver RTD ftw.
Why doesn't RTD have an official video about this topic? I think it is great that you made a video about it! I am going to college locally and I ride my bike there, but soon I will be going to a school located near Union Station Denver so I will use this to get back and forth! Just Curios, is the bus stop Union Station in Denver?
Thanks! RTD doesn't seem to have much interest in doing more than it is legally required to, unfortunately. I made the video because I realized if I didn't do it then no one would. There is a Union Station Bus Terminal in downtown Denver, right next to the light rail and commuter rail terminals.
@@PickledEntropy thanks - is there usually room for your bike? I was planning on taking the downing bus from Pennsylvania and Hampden to downing and colfax. I appreciate your help 😉
@@patrickwalsh2361 Yeah bike racks are usually empty but on the off chance they're full you can ask the driver if you can bring the bike on board, but this is at the driver's discretion
You got this. If you're talking about people watching you using the bus rack, just remember the bus passengers are back far enough and can't see you over the dash anyway
Hey do you have any tips for e-bike folks. E-bikes have really taken off and would love to spread the world on any things to be careful of (i.e. they're heavier so some of the lifting up stairs might be an issue for folks. In the meantime, huge thanks for making this really helpful video!
Hi I'm glad the video was helpful! Unfortunately I don't have any tips for ebikes beyond asking for help. Not from the bus driver obvi, but from another passenger. I wish I had more but I think the world just hasn't caught up to ebikes yet.
Watch out for someone getting off the bus and taking your nice bike while leaving you their crappy bike, or just take it, PERIOD. Happened to my friend at during a night trip.
Yep, every bus has one. Plus the ff1 has extra storage underneath in the baggage compartment if the rack is full. Your bike should probably fit-there is (or at least used to be) a bike rack in the underground bus station in Union Station that you can practice/test your bike on
No worries, Larry! Fat tires will not fit in the rack, but *with driver's permission* you can bring it on the bus. Just ask the driver. Also I don't think think there's a weight limit per se, but any bike that fits on the rack would probably be fine.

You're welcome. I'm glad it helped!
Thank you for doing this! It helps alot especially cause i get anxious doing things for the first time 👍🏻

Thank you bro still useful years on in
This is so useful, thank you!
Thanks - just what I needed
Glad I could help!

I love you. Thanks.
🤗
I think what I am most stressed about is the bike rack being full. If that happens can you take your bike inside the bus?
Ivan Hernandez Perez Yes! IF the driver allows it. They’ll make a judgement on space available.
i’m still so nervous about doing this but this time i won’t be doing it alone so hopefully it’ll help a little.

Great
Thanks for the train tutorial also
You're welcome, lil!
Although a bit janky on the video, and the subject is out of the frame half the time, I was able to piece enough together for this to be useful.

Well put man thank you.
Saving loads of social anxiety
Does every bus have a rack? Im taking 32 and ff1 and not sure. I also have an xl frame with 29ers

can i bring a bike inside the RTD terminal in union station? like the inside area where the gates are?
Yep! You just have to walk it while you’re inside.
would you be able to put a bike on if there is a basket?
Yep! There's plenty of room. Happy biking!
I know it’s a bit late, but will a fat tire bicycle fit on the rack? Also is there a weight limit?

can you stand/sit with your bike on commuter rails? my bike is a cruiser and i’m scared it’s too big and heavy for me to put on the hooks vertically 🥺
Yep, as long as you're not blocking anything you should be fine. And if the train is really that full, I'm sure someone would help you lift it up.
@@PickledEntropy thank you so much!
