Such a gorgeous place ... from the color of the water to sandy beaches and beautiful wildlife! Love the vest as is at the armholes. So many beautiful designs! Thank you Beth!
Thanks so much. Bermuda is a really special place. Thanks for watching!
I love the vest - the motifs remind me of trees in the forest
Oh yes, lovely!
Definitely go clean finish for the sleeve! Love the design. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!
Thank you for the much needed virtual beach vacay! Your new designs are inspiring. I'm obsessed with your Flame Stitch Raglan.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for this update. I agree, no need to alter the vest. Love it! Keep cool!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Enjoyed the video and such a beautiful place to live!!
Thanks. Bermuda is a really special spot ❤
I agree with you, I really like the clean edge look on that vest. Just love the vest entirely and can’t wait for it to come out! I’m also enjoying the meditative pace of simple sock knitting. I have a circular sock machine and playing with self-striping and speckled yarns on that is mesmerizing, then just simple heel, toe, and cuff. Very satisfying to have a finished object so quickly that way too. Guess I’ve been craving some quick accomplishments. Thank you for sharing the beautiful club, beach and Bermuda Longtails…almost felt like I was right there, don’t I wish. 🥰
Thanks so much for watching. Thanks for your thoughts on the vest. Sometime simple knitting can just be the best form of knitting. Enjoy your sock machine - what fun! Thanks for watching!
Great sweaters. Love the vest. 🇬🇧
Thank you! 😀
GM Beth
Your green sweater looks stunning in you and love the neck on it 😊
The vest us beautiful and colour works on bottom is amazing reminds me of trees in forest love it 😍
So much talent that you share with us 😊🥰
Thank you so much!❤❤❤
Love the vest! There is something “clean” about the shape created by no ribbing and I think it’s great to provide instructions to add ribbing.
Awesome! Thank you! Love that way of describing it as a "clean" edge. I totally agree. Thanks for verbalizing!!! So helpful!
Beautiful episode! Love the vests you are designing. I prefer the simple shaping, letting the beautiful strip at the bottom become the focal point. Possibilities are endless with so many color choices, each resulting in completely different looks. I’m really enjoying learning more about Bermuda from your videography and stories. You always have such fun and calming music as well, so thank you for these lovely, informative knitting videos. Your patterns are so beautiful, it’s hard to choose which one to knit next!😉👍🤩
Thank you so much! You are so kind! Thrilled you enjoy the videos and the tidbits on Bermuda. It's a really special spot!
Another fun podcast Beth! I love our travels around "the rock" with you at the end. That Lamb & Kid design is beautiful! -Kate
Glad you enjoyed it! I hope one day you guys make it to Bermuda to travel around the rock in person!!! Thanks for watching & hope to see you all soon!!!
Wow Beth your cowl is phenomenal! Well done, the colourwork is fabulous and such a fun motif! The Bertie basic is a great pattern and ideal in every gauge. Vests are such a wardrobe basic, I need to incorporate one in my wardrobe. Thank you for the video at the end, the blue water is so inviting. I always enjoy the additional footage at the end, I’ve never been to Bermuda, living vicariously. Thx for another great podcast Beth.
Oh thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for your thoughts on the designs. ❤
Love your knitted makes!
Thank you!!!
Love the new cowl! Like the vest with the simple edge on the arms. I really like vests. I’m in Texas where we don’t have a lot of winter so they are great to wear. Congrats on finishing up the Bermy Basic sweaters. That’s got to feel great.
Thanks! Yes really pleased to have finished the Bermy Basics. I had the idea so long ago but was so daunting to execute. Nice to be on the other side of it all now. I'm a new convert to vests and so am really keen to design loads. Stay tuned!
I really like the vest as is without the ribbing. It seems to have a nice simple flow/drape down to the colorwork edge. Ribbing would interrupt that. Keep showing us your island, it is so beautiful!
Totally agree! And definitely will keep the photos and videos of Bermuda coming. It is a very special spot ❤
Before the ending footage completed, I had Bermuda moved up to my top bucket list destination & was searching on vrbo for where to stay. That club & beach: just absolutely glorious!
It's pretty spectacular for sure! Hope you make it to Bermuda to see for yourself!!
The vest-🤩😍
❤❤❤
Loved this episode 😊
Thank you!
Love the vest!❤
Thank you!
Love the cowl and it would make an awesome sweater! Eager for the vest too….I love the look of the arm edges as they are. Always fun to visit with you 😊
Thanks so much!
Love the vest, Beth!
Thank you!
Love the latest Bermy basics and your new vest design which looks great as it is, although I think I’d prefer a little ribbing! Beautiful scenery as always and what blue, blue sea - it looks blissful. Love & gratitude Beth, Linda, UK 💕🧶🧦
Thank you Linda for watching and your lovely comments ❤
Hi Beth - I like the fitted Bermy basic you had on at the beginning and the unnamed purple colourwork vest. The colours you chose for the vest were vibrant and gorgeous.
Thank you!
Hi Beth just wanted to say hi from Napanee, Ontario. Love your podcast. The vest is perfect as it is!
Hello!! Thanks for watching!
I think it would be lovely to include the option for shading, it's very striking and unique done this way.
OK cool thanks! I will do and keep it as an option. Super helpful!
Love the clean edge on the vest and it looks great on you. Floral/botanical patterns are my favorite, but sometimes a plain knit or one with a geometric pattern is a nice "palate cleanser".
I totally agree! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I love the sleeves without ribbing as well, it's very clean. And I agree, just the diamonds (with or without shading) are enough, super cool :)
Totally agree! Thanks so much for weighing in!
I love the vest without the ribbing. Really enjoying your podcast.
Glad you enjoy it! Thanks for watching and thanks for your input on the vest. Super helpful!
Love the vest!
Thank you!
Hi from Ireland. I love the vest and think your idea of adding optional instructions for edging/sleeves is excellent, personally I would wear it without any ribbing. I’ve just purchased some Drops Soft Tweed in Purple Rain and your vest is the perfect garment to knit with it. Your designs are wonderful.
Awesome! Thank you so much! I'll definitely add instructions on how to add a cuff or sleeve should you wish. Thanks!
I agree, no edging on the vest. I love it. I will need to knit it.
Yay! Working on the pattern now!
Hello Beth. I’m on Sleeve Island 🏝️ on my Bermy Basic-Worsted ( in Red, of course)💃 The Vest-YESSS! Loving your Lamb & Kid color choices… excited 2C the finished product. GR8 videos of Coral Beach; Beautiful
Thank you Yvonne!!! Cant wait to see your BB in red - yay!!! that will be gorgeous on you!!! The Lamb & Kid colors are soooooo amazing. Sarah has such an incredible eye for color! Take care & hope the heatwave in Detroit isnt too brutal (and that you have good AC!) ❤❤❤
I love the vest on you with the current finished armholes. I like the style of the shoulders. The Agave Tee is in my sites as the design is just so pretty. The sweet dog here and there in background I adore! Love animals! Looking forward to your Vest opportunities and offerings! Thank you for today.
Thank you so much for watching! Luna 🐕 is such a sweetie :)
So fun to see the views Beth! And I love the works in progress - that purple vest is great - and definitely without sleeves, for me. Cheers & enjoy your air conditioning... Toronto is ridiculous right now - the humidity is putting it up to 35C to 42C these last few days... yes, perfect for indoor knitting, lol. 💜 Take care, Judith
Thanks so much and stay cool! I've heard the heat wave is brutal. Take care and stay indoors!!! Happy knitting
I really liked the cowl. Thanks for trying it on. I thought it seemed strange at first that the motifs end up sideways but when you put it on they lay so nicely right side up. Cool!
I totally agree! Thanks!
Another inspiring episode. The vest looks super versatile, you could possibly add a couple of rows of garter stitch to finish the armholes. The colours of the flame stitch raglan are amazing. I am really looking forward to some more great test knits in the future especially with some colour work. Bermuda scenery is fantastic and is definitely a place.on my bucket list to visit.
Thanks for the tip! The vest pattern will definitely come with instructions for armhole finishing. Thanks for watching!
Looking forward to the new design❤❤. I love colorwork. I purchased the same color Line ( color Kitt ) for my 2nd Glimmerview. I love that yarn. It's drapey, soft and washable ! Enjoyed the video of course...the water color is amazing❤
Oh that's the name! Thanks! Yes Line is so fabulous. Thanks Wendy! ❤
Hi Beth! 😊 almost off my knee roller! Ginger and I are going to the MYak retreat Italy 2025 with Jodi and Tracy ! Can’t wait. I hope we get to see you again sometime. I’m wanting to plan at least 1 knitting trip per year. Happy knitting. ❤
Have fun! One knitting trip a year sounds like a fantastic plan. Enjoy!!!
Wow....the in progress Lamb and Kid colourway is spectacular...can't wait to see more! I think you're right about the vest..a ribbed arm hole would be too much. As it is, it gives it the appearance of an exaggerated shoulder which I really like, it's clean and offsets the design at the bottom..❤😊
Thanks so much! I totally agree on the vest. The Lamb and Kid colors are sooo special. A real joy to work with!
You have the perfect hairstyle living in breezy Bermuda. I really enjoy the tidbits of knowledge you share about Bermuda.
The color combo you got from Lamb + Kid is gor.ge.ous!!!!! That is going to be a sharp looking outfit (paired with khakis) when done.
Thanks! Yup just got my summer haircut and it feels good for sure!!! Hair is sooo hot!!! I totally agree re Lamb and Kid colors. Ironically I have just purchased a great summer skirt from an offseason sale and cant wait to wear them together! Thank you!!!
Lovely vest I adore the simple design … it’s perfect the way it is! The design looks like feathers to me so so beautiful… You are an incredible designer. The yarn choice and colors are perfection.
Bermuda is beautiful can’t wait to visit one day I love the long tails ….that water looks amazing! Take care
Thank you so much! You are so kind! Hope you get to visit the island one day. It's a special spot for sure!
I think the vest looks great as it is. It is simple, classic garment. Well done!
Thank you!
Hi, Beth! Looking forward to the vest ideas. I like the curled finish of the armholes. Helps the visual fit for narrow shoulders. I’m not sure I’d want to attract attention to my tummy area with colorwork. :/ But I’m eager to see your other designs. Also, I appreciate that I know when I knit your patterns my back neck will be covered and draft-free!!
Oh yes, draft free for sure! Easy to eliminate the colorwork on the torso. Thanks for the input! ❤
I find your podcasts splendidly delightful. Particularly enjoyed your ending video today. Love your bermi sweater and am about to cast it on in Silk Boucle held with kid mohair…lets see what happens ! Many thanks from a happier Aussie knitter.
Oh thank you! So glad you enjoyed the video and the last footage. Bermuda is a special spot ❤ Happy knitting!!!
Love the vest. I just finished Havin by Isabell Kraemer and it has a similar shoulder and armhole look. I’m leaving the armholes unfinished, just rolling in on themselves and I really like the look. I enjoy the views of Bermuda. It’s beautiful.
Wonderful! Isabell Kraemer is so talented... Thanks for the input and thanks for watching!
I like the vest without ribbing at the wormholes and I like the shading in the diamonds. If you can determine the rate of pickup for ribbing as an option in the pattern it provides options. Personally I think it is beautiful and would be great over a blouse or light weight turtleneck top in winter. I also think long sleeves with the color work just above the sleeve ribbing would be stunning as well. I do loves the colors you used.
Thanks so much! Yes the pattern will definitely include instructions on adding a cuff or sleeves. Would be super easy to do but I will hold off for this version. Thinking of knitting another and will see what happens with that one! Thanks!
Love the suave vest. Hurry up and publish please!
Thanks! I'm working on that now!!! :)
Oh, Beth, I just love this vest. Please include the directions to do the diamonds the way the are.
Will do + thanks! Super helpful ❤
Just bought the Bermy Basic 22…thx for the discount
Thank you! Happy knitting!!!
I agree about the vest not needing ribbing...it's lovely and you wear it well. I just finished your Pothos Tee in a fuchsia DK cotton....it is drying in the shade on my deck, where it is 90 degrees in Oregon....too hot! Wonderful to see you so full of creative ideas and I also understand the desire for some calming, mindless knitting. Thanks for showing up so regularly and for showing us your beautiful island. Also love it when Luna makes an appearance or gives us a bark. Dog people and knitters are the best.
Ha, ha! Thanks so much and thanks for not minding the odd bark from Luna. She is so sweet but a tad vocal 😂. Hope you love your Pothos tee. Its definitely a favorite of mine!❤
Good Morning Beth! You’ve been busy! I am so excited to see your colorwork sweater that you have started…those colors! I will admit, the heel tab socks are a fiddly start but once the heel is complete it is a quick and smooth knit to the toes. However, I agree that we should knit what makes us happy in the moment we are in. Have a wonderful day 💜
Thanks Kelly! I will definitely persevere with the heel tab socks. They look fantastic and sooo wearable!!! Have a great weekend!!!
Love the vest, I cord bind off.....I will test knit that one too! Sea Swell T going well! Best! KP
Awesome! Thank you! Glad you are enjoying the Sea Swell T! Stay tuned for the test call for the vest - very similar in construction but without the rapid increases at the collar. ❤
I love the vest. I’m a fairly new knitter and ready to try color work. This may be the one. I would put some ribbing on the arms, for me. Love it!
This would be a great one to start with for colorwork. Stay tuned for the pattern & thank you!
I love seeing where you learned to dance with your dad. Absolutely charming. Your knits are always so beautiful. Happy knitting 💚🧶💚
Thank you so much! Thanks for watching and yes the Longtail Terrace is always magical. I'll try to film it at night one time with the live music. Really special...
Hi Beth! I like the shorter format, for what it's worth. :). I LOVE LOVE that cowl! Please do. make a pattern! And I do think you vest looks really good (and finished) as-is. I now have about 9 of your patterns in my cart and will be buying very sooin! :D
Yay! Thanks! the shorter format is much easier to upload too. I will try my best to stick to that. Thanks for watching!
I love the vest - I don’t think it needs ribbing. The bottom design is truly beautiful. You are so elegant looking that just about anything would look great on you. Such a fabulous designer. I’ve been knitting blankets because I’m also craving mindless knitting. Something so comforting about that kind of knitting. WOW! What a stunning place to live - amazing! Thank you for sharing the beauty of Bermuda!
Thank you so much! So kind! Thanks for watching!
I love the vest without ribbing. It’s very elegant.
Thank you!
Hello from Swansea, Illinois.
Hello! Thanks for watching!
Yes please ribbed armholes...and a V neck but not deep. Cannot find that pattern anywhere...its beautiful....colour is stunning😊😊😊
Thanks! The pattern will definitely have instructions for ribbed armholes. Wont have instructions on this one for a V neckline - but I'm hoping to design one soon with that shape. Stay tuned!!!
Hi Beth, per the vest, looks great without sleeves, however, including options to add ribbing and/or sleeve would be great. It would also look good in a v-neck but maybe that could be an option when you embark on cables😊. Take care❤
Thanks for the tips! Super helpful! Yes I need to design a Vneck - it's just not something I enjoy knitting (too much flat knitting for my liking 😂). I definitely need to add one to my portfolio (and my closet) so this might be just the push I need. Thanks!
I love the short sleeves and the colour work is beautiful. I personally like a V neck and short sleeves. And I love the purple. You may be recording at a very high definition which would take longer to upload. It also could be your internet. Coral Beach looks spectacular. Makes me want to visit....Rosie
Thanks Rosie! Thanks for the input on uploading - I do choose a higher resolution which I know slows it all down. I'll be recording from NYC in August and curious if that location and possibly better internet will change anything. Thanks so much!
I wouldn't change a thing about the vest!
Great! Thanks!
I love your designs, I just don't know how you get to knit so many things so fast. We are grateful you do ❤
Thank you so much! I spend a lot of time knitting :)
I agree--no ribbing. :)
❤❤❤
Love the vest…please publish
Will do and thanks!
Love the sleeves without ribbing💙🩵 what a beautiful beach 🏖️
It really is! Perfect pink sand and turquoise water :)
Hi Beth - no ribbed sleeve, it looks so clean without
Thank you! 😊
Love, love, love the rolled sleeve edge! I would like to see relaxed ribbing only at the hem. This vest looks so simple yet classic and elevated beyond a mere vest. In a cotton blend, with a rolled neckline, it could also easily become a sleeveless summer top!
Great suggestion! Thanks!!!
I do like the vest without ribbing on the arm holes. Maybe just an i-cord bind-off?
Thanks!
😂Ive purchased the 22 and hope knit it soon. A basic pattern is what I need and it looks great on you. I think Ill knit it with 4 ply as I have a Jumper quality.
Sounds fantastic! Thank you & happy knitting!
I love your opening beach scene. I feel like I’m there :)
Thank you! That was filmed a few years ago by my friend Amanda Temple at one of my favorite little beaches. Glad you enjoy it. ❤❤❤
Hi Beth, thank you and hello from Switzerland
Hello there! Oh Switzerland! That is high on my bucket list to visit!!!
Agree. Like the clean edge w/out ribbing. Lovely vest.
Thank you so much!
I do like the vest as is. It looks great and seems versatile. I always enjoy your Bermuda videos. Do the Bermuda Longtails ever stop to rest? They are amazing flyers. I would love to see them at rest sometime.
Yes they do. They nest in the cliff faces. Lots online about them. One of the few endemic birds of Bda. They are very special. Here's a link to a little more about them environment.bm/longtail
@@bethmacdonaldstone Thanks for the link. As a longtime birdwatcher I’m glad to know there are dedicated groups trying to help these lovely birds.
Vest fine as is. I don’t think it needs ribbed edging.
Thank you! Me too! Super helpful!
The vest is lovely, but I feel like the arm holes are not finished and they really need a small rib to make it look more tailored.
Those instructions will definitely be in the pattern. Thanks!
Of course I love your knitted items, but your lipstick in this video is lovely. Can you please share the brand and color? Thanks.
Thank you! It's the Feny Beauty Stunna Lip paint in Vivid Pink - linked here (hope you can just click on it). This is great and I have a few colors. It stays on for hours and is such a nice clean looking lip. www.sephora.com/product/stunna-lip-paint-P39787544?skuId=2173714&icid2=products%20grid:p39787544:product
That color is out of stock right now, but I’ll check again another time. Thank you.
@@randie5436 Yes sadly it is. Can you set up a notification?
Hello and thank you for the video! A little question about the Bermy sweaters: Is it possible to knit the Bermy sweater gauge 22 with a fingering yarn? Thank you ☺️
If you like the fabric at that gauge then yes. It would be a very open fabric. Traditionally a 22 st gauge would be for a DK yarn or fingering held with a lace weight. A more traditional fingering weight gauge would be either a 26 st gauge or 28 stitch gauge. Hope this helps!
no ribbing on the vest if yourw going to wear it with dresses
Thanks! I agree!!!
I don’t have a lot of knitting experience but I’d love to knit the bermy basic oversized version with fingering or sport weight yarn. Is that possible? I really don’t understand the concept. Do you have any suggestions to help me?
(not Beth, but I was a bermy basic test knitter!) If you want fingering or sport weight yarn, I'd recommend getting the bermy basic 26 or 28 or a similar gauge to that. To make sure, you can do a swatch of stockinette in your chosen yarn and measure how many stitches in a row fit inside 4 inches. You wanna buy the pattern version that matches that gauge!
To make it oversized, just pick a size in the pattern that will give you more inches of positive ease. For example, if your bust is 45 inches around, you wanna pick a size that's around 50 inches (or however much oversized ease you want!). I totally think an adventurous beginner knitter could make this pattern. Have fun!
Thank you so much Amanda! Super helpful and honestly I have nothing else constructive to add!!! Thank you! Good luck www.youtube.com/@user-yo4zd5fz7g (do links work on RUclips?) - its a great starting off sweater pattern. happy knitting! ❤❤❤
No ribbed sleeve edge.
Thanks!
Lovely photography at the end! I think if I was knitting the vest I’d incorporate one of the argyle colors in the neck ribbing - maybe tipping and ditto with ribbing on the armholes but that’s just me - “ you do you” 🧶
That's a great idea! Thanks!
I also love the Vest. Hope its Bottom Up or easy to convert. Perfect Vest 💗🧶🧶🧶
Thank you! The design is top down actually but super easy to execute. I'm sure you could convert it to bottom up too if you'd prefer
