    Hi Beth! I finally made it home yesterday after an unplanned night in Miami due to a flight cancellation so it was a real treat to spend a little morning knit time with you today. Thank you for the kind shout out and we loved having you join us on our Knits n Pieces Podcast. Hello! I love hearing about Bermuda and its history, because I know nothing about it.
    For the sweater you are thinking about knitting, but may not have enough yarn, I say go with your vision and buy the light colored yarn. You have a gift in design and if your vision is light, go with the light.
    I like hearing what podcasts you watch-it exposes me to different makers. Thank you.
    Happy knitting. 😊

    Beth, love your aesthetic, in everything you create. Very thoughtful designs. I'm a retired financial analyst, so always love the thrill of a good spreadsheet, and working with my knitting offers me the opportunity to use them! Your Bermy Basic is a gift to we knitters who have wonderful yarns in our stash and struggle finding the right gauge to use them. I'll certainly be investing in your patterns to create my own lovely wearables. Truly enjoyed the history lesson. My parents honeymooned in Hamilton in December, 1956, and took my 2 brothers and I with them when they returned there in the early '70s. As I recall, the swordfish my brother caught ended up in the kitchen of the hotel we stayed in, the Princess, I believe. The Bermy you are wearing reminds me of the first raglan I knit for myself, in the colorway "Daisies" by Miss Babs in Kaweah. I allowed the yarn to do it's own thing, and my grandson uses it to name his colors where it has pooled!!

    Thank you Beth for another great episode. I wanted to give you a little poke regarding your hint for a better vest pattern. You mentioned you’d like to design slimmer/narrower upper side panels. I’d love that too. Most vests are just bulkier than they need to be & lend to a dated look.
    Love your style.

    • @bethmacdonaldstone

      Great tip! Thank you so much. Yes a properly fitted vest is key which is why I think the Rhumb Line design/construction will really lend itself to the knitters best fit since you can customize at every stage. Stay tuned!!!

    Another enjoyable episode! I always look forward to another one of yours. I tend to think that changing the color for the cuff and rib on that last sweater would make it too busy also because there is a lot going on already with the cables going across the body. That said, the colors are both dark and close in value so it might not make a big impact. I think with all the cable work involved a lighter color might showcase them more. I particularly liked hearing about the railroad and doctors actually picking up their patients to take them to the hospital is mind boggling!

    • @bethmacdonaldstone
      @bethmacdonaldstone  6 месяцев назад

      Yes definitely another time and another world back then. Not like doctors visits now when everything is so rushed. As for the yarn and the lovely cabled sweater, I'm totally in agreement. Looking forward to finding wool to knit your Bermy 24.
    Do you have to keep your dog on a leash when you walk the trail?
    I love to walk trails:)

      Yes you do by law. Dogs must be on a leash. There is quite a bit of traffic there with other dogs and bikes too. I used to let my former dog off the leash but things have changed and I wouldn't be comfortable doing that anymore. ❤
