ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it's true. So what's motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn't an easy time but I won't let fear dictate my life. I didn't think 'why me', there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it's not always smooth sailing. It's true when you hear, 'Life is short', the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It's so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?

If you enjoyed that, check out the band Jinjer. The female lead vocalists has an amazing voice alongside powerful vocals. It still amazes me how she can blend from vocal styling to the next without issue. Extremely hard.
Like not to degrade Courtney, she is amazing, but have you guys never heard of metalcore? So basically if you want more of this you can listen anything from metalcore and you'll probably like some of it

So I seen the new review and of course had to watch it because it's from my fav RVA. So I hit play and I pulled out of my credit union to continue on my commute back home. At first I was like wow, what a very pretty soft breathy voice. And then all of a sudden, holy Christmas balls! All I can say is thank God at that moment I was stopped at a red light, and my large cup of piping hot Starbucks coffee was in the cup holder!
Courtney is so amazingly talented. I am so happy I found Spiritbox last year.

For my money Courtney is the best female lead in the Prog Metal game right now. Her ability to switch between clean and dirty is unmatched. Her lyrics are perfect. Her and Mike have a feel for their style and how to mesh vocal and musical themes to make a fully cohesive piece of music. Top notch.
Thank you for this one! As a metal guy, and big RVA fan, I can say I'd love to see a video of you demonstrating this technique. Courtney has a scream that most guys would be extremely proud of.

Note how close she is to the mic during the screaming parts. The screaming happens on roughly the same volume as the singing, awesome technique right there.

YOU HAVE TO DO CONSTANCE! Most of their songs have screaming, but Constance is all melodic vocals and is absolutely beautiful. It’s a very personal song for Courtney, as it’s about her grandmother passing away this year and her not being able to attend the funeral because of border shut downs due to the pandemic. So, you can hear the emotion in her performance. It’s beautifully haunting and somber. PLEASE check that song out!

This is my favorite reaction video ever. I laugh so hard through this and have watched it at least 50 times.
Courtney is unique in her quality of transitions from the clean to fry to growl voices. While Tatiana maybe has more range either way, she hasn't got this ability to just slide into the fry then the growl as one sound.
And this track really uses that, whereas Holy Roller doesn't.

Courtney has actually more contrast between her quiet clean & her fry than Tatiana. I think the latter has a bit more color and range but Courtney has a cool in-between range of sounds on good display here.
the impressive thing about metal singers is they devote their voices to such a short amount of time before they cant sing that way anymore so the songs produced are amazing works of art. some of them like periphery or( whitechaples phil bozman) or mitch luker or for females Krysta Cameron

How more people have not done reactions to Specer Sotelo of the band Periphery is mind blowing. Easily one of the best rock vocalists out there right now. 'Garden in the Bones' and 'Satellites' are two that show off his crazy range. Satellites is a very vocal centered song, but is long.
Tons of people have asked for this and as far as I am aware only one video has been made, which was for Garden in the Bones.

I love you Rebecca!!! I love you nose, your cheek bones, your eyes, your humor, your neck line, how tiny you are but how big your personality is. Although huge is stature, there’s nothing grating about it. You seem to exhume kindness and love. Your face seems to match your soul.
Do “Constance” by Spiritbox which has no screaming. It’s a very powerful song. There are over 100 reaction videos on YT and 70% cry so let’s see if you can make it through without losing it.

Apparently, Growling like this is more about relaxing the vocal folds than tightening them. Tatiana Shmayluk, can keep this up for concert after concert, song after song, and still switch back and forth between the growl and her normal singing voice. There doesn't seem to be any neck or throat straining at all. I would imagine trying to growl like this by tightening the vocal folds would leave them in ruins.
That's amazing. I would love to know what it feels like to scream with your throat and vocal chords relaxed. I don't know if I can even imagine it.
