It's bizarre that many of these stars are undeniably gorgeous, yet they apparently don't meet Hollywood's warped standards of beauty. For instance, former Disney actor Kay Panabaker, was told that she needed to loose weight to be considered for a love interest role. She considered that to be a ridiculous reason to lose weight, which partially contributed to her leaving Hollywood behind entirely.
Hollywood's reputation sinks lower and lower, from horrible films to shitting on people's dreams even tho they deserve it
I think Sarah Jessica Parker, judy garland, Jennifer Lawrence, and lea Michele are all gorgeous!
Well not everybody on this list is pretty lol and that's ok. We are all not gifted in the beauty department but there is way more important things you can offer as a human being so who cares lol.
I remember seeing Kate Winslet in Titanic when I was a child, and thinking she was the most beautiful woman on earth.
I worked at a newsroom in NYC when "Titanic" came out. Many of the women I worked with had a major girl-crush on Kate Winslet. They all had her photo as their screensaver.

All are incredibly talented and beautiful women. One not mentioned is Sophia Loren. Producers and camera crew complained that not having a pretty face made it difficult to make her look attractive on film. She responded with one of my all time favorite quotes. “Certainly, I do not have a pretty face. I have a particular one. You just need to learn how to film it”.
Sophia Loren has never been brow beaten. She's an excellent role model.
I can't believe somebody thought Sophia Loren not pretty! She is one of the most beautiful actresses and that's not just my opinion, she was a miss Italia runner up, after all.

Thick lips and very wide apart eyes, turned up tiny nose where you can see the snot and a masculine jawline is Hollywood’s and many regular peoples version of beauty for women.

Having a successful Hollywood career should be about being good at acting, not about meeting varying and often impossible beauty standards. It's honestly disturbing how it affected some of the bigest names in cinema.

The overall message I'm getting is that Hollywood is insanely unrealistic with impossible standards, and therefore they shouldn't be telling anyone how to look.

Brandy should've made this list as well. At age 14, she was permitted from going to an audition that the other girls in class were going to, all because her high school guidance counselor (who was in charge of scouting talent at her school) said she wasn't "drop dead gorgeous". When Brandy said "what about my talent?", the teacher replied with "that's not going to work in Hollywood".
Hollywood must he really blind to call someone like Jennifer Lawrence "not pretty". She is very talented and has a nice personality. It's a shame that she's getting all of that unfair hate nowadays.

You forgot the very rude comments about her appearance Kate Winslet got from the presse after Titanic came out. She was wearing size 4 and yet they still managed to fat shame her. She was incredibly beautiful as Rose in Titanic!!! She’s still beautiful today.

9:45. Let's be honest here. The girl in this frame was the girl BULLIED by other GIRLS in high school. Kate Winslet "Glowed Up." As she has stated herself in interviews, she weighed 160lbs/72.5KGs when she was 18. Her agent's comments led her to becoming more healthy & more weight conscious.

Anyone with a different or unique beauty is told by these wretches that they're not enough. THIS is a huge piece of what makes them interesting (I mean besides the inner person, of course). I don't think I'm expressing myself exactly the way I want to! I just think that it's cool to have your own look, your own unique beauty

Beauty is far more than skin deep. I loved *Glee* but disliked the character played by Lea Michelle intensely. Turns out, by all accounts following the show’s cancellation, her costars were not very fond of her personal character, either.
I worked in production and media relations the film/tv Industry for many years. When I was young, I thought I wanted to be an actress and did a fair amount of stage work and also earned a degree in theater from UCLA. I enjoyed it. However, dealing with actual Hollywood was a totally different thing and I soon realized that I didn't have what the above women had (massive talent, strong passion to succeed, a tough skin etc), and moved to the other side of the camera. I worked hard, had a great career and have great memories of my time in the Industry. I also have great admiration for these women in the piece as I know what they faced.
I was thinking of a list of actresses that were told they were pretty enough for Hollywood: Heather Lochlear, Courtney Cox, Megan Fox, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor.
The first three are over made up but Monroe and ESPECIALLY Taylor - out of this world gorgeous. I think it is in the eye of the beholder anyway - certain traits are attractive to certain people. It is opinion, not fact.
Everyone knows true beauty is on the inside.

I am really appalled to know this. And these people are actually most beautiful people in the world. I mean I would die for Sarah Jessica Parker’s body, it’s petite, her face is angelic, she looked like a girl of early 20’s while she was in her mid thirties. I am just speechless!!
I understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Nevertheless, when I was told decades ago that Jack Nicholson was handsome, and Angelica Huston was beautiful, I truly understood that statement. I was already wary of Hollywood.

In Hollywood, you have two types of actors that make it. Those that fit a trope, and are generic enough in a beautiful way, that any random Jane and Joe can identify as them and feel beautiful by proxy, and then those, that are unique, and create a name for themselves on pure merit alone. They too are beautiful. The only difference is that they're not generic enough.

I was surprised to see Winona Ryder on this list because I always thought she was very pretty. When I first saw the 1994 adaptation of Little Women and saw that she was Jo March, I first thought she would be too good looking to play Jo. But Ryder was excellent as Jo, especially in her scenes with Gabriel Byrne as Professor Bhaer.

I moved to L.A in 1997, just shy of my 28th birthday, and tried to get an agent. I'd spent the previous 10 years on stage and, eventually, grad school. I couldn't get any representation. I was "Too old, not attractive enough, and unf*ckable".
So I went back to the stage. 😊

In Spanish there is a saying that says that "there are no ugly women, just ones that don't gussie themselves up". Every female is inherently beautiful, but needs to be put together: clothes, hair, makeup, tidy etc.,in whatever amount or combo thereof, and she's good to go. Just being the best version of yourself. All of the women in this video are beautiful and more so, when you see their personalities shine through their characters. There was a famous actress Susan Saint James who was auditioning for the movie, Love at First Bite, who was told she was not beautiful enough for the part of the leading lady. She responded " I can act beautiful". She got the part. It works. I have seen women who acted beautiful, with charm and grace, who elevated their beauty. Confidence is another beautifier.
Charm comes from within. Nobody should be forced to change if they don't feel like it.
I have such respect for these (mostly) women who kept at it despite all the negativity. Look at all the talent we would have missed if petty, narrow-minded casting agents and directors had their way. Women are constantly being told how to look or what they must change about themselves. Men, not so much. What's wrong with this picture?

Beauty standards are just really dumb in general, because beauty is such a subjective thing, but Hollywood has some exceedingly warped ideas of "pretty".
Disappointed at the coverage of Oscar winner, movie lead actor, Viola Davis in this piece. Perhaps it was assumed that viewers know her CV, but it would have been nice to hear (just as was done for the previous women featured) how Ms. Davis didn’t allow detractors to stop her and her incredible talent.

In the early years of Hollywood, there was the case of Norma Shearer when she asked for a chance to legendary producers Mack Sennett and Florence Ziegfeld they told her that she wasn't pretty enough to be in the show business because of her cross eyes problem, but got the attention of MGM's Irving Thalberg (who latter became her husband) so with the time Norma Shearer became the Queen of the MGM and the rest is history
A person isn't just beautiful for their appearence. It's so stupid and so unffair the way this industry treats women. But they've proove they are talented and that the world doesn't want to see just their beauty standarts. As P!nk have said a lot of times, we show them that there are more kinds of beauty.

That's because this photo was made after she had nose job, blepharoplasty and lips filler done. Also her round cheeks are gone nowadays. Looks like a different person compared to her early movies. So could not take the pressure and modified herself.

There are so many actors that don’t need to be there but they are there. Yet thoses who have talent don’t get work
No artist worth a canvas wants to draw or paint or sculpt a super model. Perfection is boring in art. It is quirkiness and individuality that creates the greatest beauty. Who remembers the surgically perfected chorus actors, and who remembers Barbra Streisand? Who remembers the beach bunnies and who remembers the star of Beaches Bette Midler? Who remembers Frida Kahlo's eyebrows and the Mona Lisa's enigmatic half-smile and Sammy Davis Junior's, well, everything. Answer: We all do! I wish Hollywood would get this through their collecive heads!

It is true, that most of those women are not classic beauties, but why should they be? Most have a unique charm, which is more important. Anyway it sucks that it is not only the talent which matters. Talent should always be priority. Not beauty or ability to sleep with big bosses to make a career.
