There's a difference between 'falling off the map' and walking away by choice. Quite a few of these folks made a choice to leave.
Ms. Mojo never makes the distinction in any of their videos. It's annoying🙄
Quite right.
and another difference is beeing kicked off the map like misha barton, who was constantly bullied and stalked
It's the same😅
Does it matter if you jump off a building or you are pushed? The end result is exactly the same...
Mara Wilson was such an icon during her acting career. The fact that she's so well recognized even today is a testament to that. I'm glad she's found just as much success outside of Hollywood.
I am surprised that the kid who played Charlie Buckett (Peter Ostrander?) wasn’t mentioned. He left fame behind completely and became a veterinarian! Love him for that! 😊❤️
Peter Ostrum
Maybe they're talking about kid actors from the 1990s-current. Because I'm surprised Shirley Temple wasn't even mentioned either.

His life is better at least👍🏼
He didn't really take to being a child actor, apparently.
I find it very refreshing to hear someone like Josh Hartnett admit that the sudden fame was overwhelming and not all it cracked up to be, and that he needed to take a step back from fame. It seems like everyone is obsessed with Instagram, Tik Tok, or whatever and it is taking over our lives! ☹️
Precisely, it's understandable to want to take a step back from fame, as your own wellbeing and mental health ultimately comes first. Also, he's great in Penny Dreadful.
To be honest I use Instagram just to mostly look at animals and a few comics.
He was just in the new season of Black Mirror
After watching him in Black Mirror I can’t believe he isn’t doing more.
I always think of Rick Moranis. I really loved his movies as a kid. But I totally respect and applaud him for being a great parent.
Because he could've continued acting and found other people to babysit. Instead he stepped back from acting so he could raise his kids.
I think he's doing another movie soon though
Super to see many of them leaving the glitz for law, education, animal advocacy etc. Also I have big respect for Macaulay Culkin, surviving child-star hell as he did.
I really feel sorry for what Amanda Bynes is going through
It was hard to watch her fall. She was awesome. I hope she is continuing to get the help she needs❤
Although Frankie Muniz is mostly out of the acting industry these days, he still seems to be doing well for himself, running a family business, and partaking in racing cars professionally.
I'm glad he is doing well despite suffering two strokes which caused his memory loss. I also hope Mara Wilson and Lalaine are doing well for themselves.
@@kamsismith Agreed, mental health ultimately comes first, it's much more important than fame. Also, Mara seems very down to earth, and I'm delighted that she's found success as a playwright.
@@trinaqI remember she wrote a book about her experiences. She reminds me of a mixture of Drew Barrymore and Jeanette McCurdy personality-wise as they've been open about their experiences in the industry and maintain a sense of humility.
@@kamsismith Agreed, I love that they're being honest and not sugercoating their toxic childhoods in the seedy entertainment industry. By the way, have you read Jennette's autobiography? I have, and it's well written, though hard to read at times.
@@trinaqI have not, but my sister has. We both agreed that her mom was crazy as hell and I watched a couple of her interviews whenever she talks about her and I remember in one of them, she said that her mom wasn't the only toxic family member but also her maternal grandmother as her grandmother would often disrespect her boundaries. Both her grandmother and mom were toxic toward each other and her mom did the same thing to her.
Culkin walked away because a lot of his 'success' was his father exploiting him when he would rather have been in school. Kind of cynical to talk about that as if it was a tragic loss of a career when in fact it was freedom from being milked for money by other people.
Freddie Prince Jr. has been doing a lot of really cool vc roles in video games and I'm all here for that. He voiced one of my favorite characters in the Dragon Age game series.
Yeah he's never really stopped working or fallen off. He just switched gears. I kinda liken his career to Mark Hamill's.
Him and family live a private life. We know nothing and their marriage or kids. As it should be
He's also into wrestling and has hosted for WWE Rivals
@@jenewokHe was also a writer for WWE and he has a podcast where he talks about wrestling
The name is Prinze, not Prince.
I am glad he has chosen to lead a quiet and balanced life.
His father had a lot of fame that came suddenly and he ended up committing suicide.
That might be part of why he has stepped back to live a more quiet life.
Honestly tho Macaulay Culkin's fall of the map was more like he threw the map in the trash and decided to take a road trip to see all the weird tourist traps in the United States. He seems to be having a good time.
Haley Joel Osment talking directly to Mischa Barton, "i see dead hollywood careers" . . . spolier, but in the end Haley realizes his career has been a Ghost too all along.
On behalf of myself, a counselor focused on substance use disorder, and as a person in recovery, I REALLY appreciate that Ms. Mojo and Watch Mojo use the newer, person centered terms such as substance use disorder, rather than the former negatively associated words like addict or addicted to drugs, etc. THANK YOU!!
Interesting that several of the clips featured Rachael Leigh Cook yet she wasn’t on the list.
Yeah, I noticed that also.
She was definitely All That.
Probably would have been good to mention that Frankie Muniz is now a NASCAR driver and doing well in one of the touring series.
Amanda Bynes is the one that really upset me the most. I really hope she gets better and more people in her life step up and support her.
I don't view josh Hartnett or Jonathan Taylor Thomas as falling off. They just made other choices with their lives. Josh didn't want that type of fame and the latter wanted an education no harm in either. Fame like that isn't for everyone especially when you're young and supposed make mistakes like any other young person. I couldn't imagine at that at those ages. I was a total idiot lol.
hehehe But you grew up, and hopefully are having a great life! I loved Josh; I felt so bad for him when he had to do Hollywood Homicide with cranky Harrison Ford who made his life hell.
Mara Wilson is awesome. I have friends who’ve worked with her recently on random small projects in NYC.
Macaulay Culkin’s fall always felt a bit intentional to me, like he wanted to be normal for a bit and not as famous as he was.
Hey and Kieran are seeing some comebacks these days. Kieran was fantastic in Waco and was great on Succession.
Nah. Dude got hard addicted to drugs and alcohol early in life and was in and out of rehab. He was unhireable for a long time. He's back on track now tho.
@@madzi9574I think that is true in part, but he has also said some really incriminating things about Hollywood which played a part.
Actors being on drugs is nothing new; they are human just like people with other jobs do drugs!
I do not believe actors get fired only because they are on drugs; its when they begin to cause trouble that they are unhireable. When the public becomes aware, the law gets involved, and when the actors begin telling on Hollywood.
Elijah Wood is similar and never has done drugs, but he did call out the evil practices of Hollywood execs with their child stars.
@@madzi9574 You're actually both right. He went through a long battle with addiction that halted his career but also wanted to stop acting because his parents were exploiting him for the money. It's hard to watch Home Alone 2 now knowing he begged his parents not to do the sequel and they forced him anyway.
Cam Gigandet was another actor that saw success after Twilight, Easy A and Burlesque. I know he married and then divorced, but I’m surprised I haven’t seen him doing much lately.
Half the cast of American Pie- for example Sean William Scott, Jason Biggs and I think his name was Thomas Ian Nicholas.
Yep. I know I forgot about Jason Biggs until a recent pie commercial he did.
And Chris Klein
freddie prinze jr has done a lot for the wrestling business
He also is a living example of a man who was able to overcome his larger than life dad, whose life ended in tragedy. Plus he and Sarah Michelle seem good.
I was kind of surprised to see Josh Hartnett in the new season of Black Mirror. I was like, huh that's random, but I love me some Josh Hartnett.
Putting aside legal issues and drug problems, there are celebrities that stepped out of spotlight and like the smaller roles or do something else or different careers
I definitely know who Jane Child was because back in high school, she had my most favorite songs, even if she was a one or two hit wonder.
Macaulay Culkin was great in the movie Saved!
I loved that movie
omg, yes! I love him in that and the movie is just brilliant.
Freddie Prinze's Jr's father was also a star, but his career ended in tragedy at the age of 22.
He committed suicide. It was super sad.
I'm disappointed that Leelee Sobieski wasn't on the list. She was incredible as Joan of Arc back in the late 1990s.
By the way, Lalaine, who was on the list, had a small part in "Annie" (the Rob Marshall remake from the late '90s).
Leelee was amazing in The Glass House. I rewatched it the other day and wondered what she was up to.
@@mochimochi7669She's an artist now, married to fashion designer Adam Kimmel. She paints and sculpts abstract work and works in VR, using Google Tilt Brush. She uses bright colors, abstracted and textured shapes floating on either a large black or white background.
Her acting departure in 2012 coincided with wanting to spend time with her kids and husband and, as she explained to Vogue Magazine that year, "Ninety percent of acting roles involve so much sexual stuff with other people, and I don’t want to do that. It’s such a strange fire to play with, and our relationship is surely strong enough to handle it, but if you’re going to walk through fire, there has to be something incredible on the other side.”
Well she never Fell off . She just stop acting
It's best that Pauly Shore faded into obscurity
I like Mara Wilson. She seems like she really has her life together.
We wasn't using trapper keepers anymore In the late 90s and early 2000s.
I still listen to "I dont wanna fall in love" regularly. Biodome is a cult classic. Culkin fell to the dark side.... but Honestly, Party Monster was brilliant. Coyote Ugly was amazing. Lots of famous people play poker. I lived 5 min from where american pie was produced. Hartnet was so adorable. He is outright sexy now. His self reflection is awesome. Alicia is out there spending her millions lol. The Matinda chick Mara is stunning. Good for her for being a writer.
Shannyn Sossamon should have been on this list.
Oh definitely. She was on the verge for a minute.
Do you the American former tween actress who once became famous on RUclips ...she have mental issue .
How about Michael Winslow the sound effects guy from police academy. He had such a unique talent that we don't see in movies.
3:50 Well Macaulay Culkin hasn't disappeared too much since he Married Brenda Song and have children together. He managed to reshape his life together. It has been said that he is getting back into acting into small roles. He and his brothers are said to make a come back after finally escaping thier evil mother.
In Macaulay Culkin's case, they just would not let him "Grow Up."
The biggest issue was him having a notorious stage father. Walking away from acting for a few years, it helped in the long run.
@@fromthehaven94 It sounds like his father was forcing him to act from what your saying.
Mara Wilson is still around. She has her own talkshow, a novelsit and often appears on youtube....she is said to be taking on stage.
It's like you didn't watch the video at all....
You forgot to mention ”Hold on” by Jamie Walters, that was an original song, and a smash hit all around the world.
- Never heard that cover song you played, maybe it topped the charts only in the US.
I first heard of Alicia Silverstone from her starring role as Braceface, which was a funny animation series back in the day.
I listen to "Don't Wanna Fall in Love" by Jane Child every day.
I just thought it was awesome to see a pop star who shared my name. It was the start of me growing into being a Jane.
She had a song that was featured on Days of Our Lives that related to a girl's attempted suicide. It was so haunting. I loved Jane, and I still have her songs on my ipod (I am a dinosaur but I like having 8K songs of MY choice at the ready!).
@@janehopke878 There was a famous song called Jane. I still love it! Cool.
@@jbjacobs9514 which famous song “Jane”? There’s several…the two that come to mind immediately are the ones by Jefferson Starship (best rock song intro EVER, by the way) and Barenaked Ladies.
Then there’s “Jane Says”, “Sweet Jane” and “Janie’s Got a Gun” as well.
So which song exactly were you talking about? 🤔
@@janehopke878 Umm Jefferson Starship. The others are just peripheral. I have a few songs named after me (Jennifer).
Let's not forget Taylor Lautner's best role in history was Sharkboy.
Naw son his role of Jacob in Twilight is what made him
He did get a little more mileage than his fellow Taylor from that movie, Taylor Dooley.
Piper Perabo is sit in big things. She’s in Yellowstone 😊
Yes! I loved her in Coyote Ugly and Covert Affairs (even moreso). She was also in a movie a few years back - Forever your Girl. She is still beautiful and wonderful!
@@jbjacobs9514She was also in the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie and Cheaper By The Dozen 1 & 2
I'm glad that mara Wilson is doing happy as a writer 🙂
Oh man. Coyote Ugly. I definitely remember when that was popular. I wanted to get a job in a bar just to dance like they did. LOL!!!
I'm so glad some of these child stars admit that fame was too much for them and they weren't ready to be role models. I mean, they were still kids themselves, but thankfully they seem to be doing okay.
I really wished to hear about Anneliese van der Pol who played Chelsea, best friend of Raven in That's So Raven.
She went to Broadway. Shes very successful as a stage actress and singer.
Taylor Lautner should have been a modern martial arts action star. I remember him when he was 13 doing the ISKA tournaments on ESPN. His staff katas were fucking intense. Nightwing would have been an easy choice for him in a DC movie project.
Randomly Mischa Barton is going to be appearing on the Australian Soap “Neighbours” when it starts up again. The studios and sets are in my neighbourhood in Melbourne so who knows maybe I’ll celeb spot haha
Jonathan Taylor Thomas was my favorite. I loved him for voicing young Simba in Disney’s the lion king. He had the best performance and that in my opinion whenever I hear his voicing young Simba it just blows my mind and blows me away. I had a crush on him at the time and he did that movie because of that.
You left out the reason why Jamie Walters’ Star fell. His character on 90210 became an abusive and cheating boyfriend and fans couldn’t separate him from his now despised character.
That's messed up. Sounds like be did a convincing job on the show. Too bad people are dumb and the6 can't see the difference.
I noticed that too. Jamie is a great actor/ singer. And all because people couldn't separate his character on Beverly Hills 90210 from who he really was tells you how great he was. I mean if they want to hate him for how his character was they should hate on a lot more characters on Beverly Hills 90210 as well. Like for example Jennie Garth aka Kelly who was the biggest snob and self centered person ever!
....he really had no talent🤷🏽♀️
Yeah I couldn't stand Ray at times! I was just like "Dinna please break up with him he's annoying " 😂
@ginacleveland7995 he had plenty of talent that's why people would mistake him for the role he played. Even though he was nothing like that.
Maura Wilson just narrated the audiobook Mrs Nash’ Ashes, where the lead character is also a former child star. Perfection.
3: Frankie Munz retired from acting after having a few strokes and health problems, so he became a ''professional NASCAR driver'' until he ended up hurt in a serious crash. Now, he had to retire from that, and deal with his constant creaky body.
he still races
I feel like Orlando Brown more famous now then he’s ever been lol
good on Shannon Elizabeth for not falling into typecast roles. she could have made a career and more money from them but she didn't give in to it
Tara Ried is still going strong, she is trying to do another Sharknado and is said to be in line for a couple of other films
She was recently on the show Ghosts on cbs. She has a cameo as a paid guest for Trevor "no pants guy" and inadvertently (and stupidly) ruins his memorial for his parents. The ghosts thankfully avoided the disaster of having to be stuck with her for eternity by conspiring to keep her from foolishly almost tripping and falling to her death. It was a funny cameo.
Fame and celebrity are overrated, and it's understandable why many of these celebrities opted for a more quiet life outside of the entertainment industry. Also, I hope that Lalaine eventually pops up in another project, the most notable thing she's done since "Lizzie McGuire" was her "Easy A" cameo.
She was on the last season of Buffy. Bigger part than on Easy A, though not by much.
Alotta these people Left Hollywood by choice not by falling off
Some chose to be happy than to be famous, good for them!!!!
Paulie Shore’s films are cult classics.
Amazing video ms mojo.
To be fair to Amanda Bynes, she appears to suffer from some very serious and challenging mental health issues, possible schizophrenia.
Prinze didn't fall of the map, he choose to leave acting. And you should have mentioned who his father was, although most of these whipper snappers here wouldn't know who he was anyways.
If this lady knew who his dad was, I would have fallen off my chair. I used to watch his show in the 70s. I was so sad that he passed. It was just tragic that he couldn't hang on, especially considering what a wonderful son he seems to have and how adjusted FP Jr is.
@@jbjacobs9514 And in his 20s. He actually looked like he was in his 30s on the show Chico and the Man. If you watched this show, you must have watched Sanford and Son too.
@@shadowinthemirror I did watch S&S too at the time. Good Times, Happy Days, Wonder Woman, Bionic Woman, Starsky & Hutch, Incredible Hulk, Bionic Man, Laverne & Shirley, Odd Couple, and all the cop shows (Kojak and Ironside were my faves). In the 70s, tv shows were glorious!
@jbjacobs9514 They sure were. I didn't see All in the family on your list.
@@shadowinthemirror I did watch that and Maude and a few others, but I figured you got the drift. Another fave was Carol Burnett show! Plus catching the ends of Jeannie and Bewitched. There were a bunch of shows that were not famous that I tried to watch (Angie - Saturday Night Fever spinoff; Cat and Dog - Kim Basinger; Makin It; San Pedro Beach Bums; and a few others).
Orlando Brown is on Zues Networks Bad Boys Club. Frankie Muniz was on Surreal Life on Vh1. Would of loved to seen Andy Milanokis too.
Piper Perabo's most recent work was a role in the show Yellowstone.
Tara Ried was on a season of marriage bootcamp celebrity edition with a fake boyfriend. He was just her friend who couldnt take lying anymore. She also thought the prop screen plays in her room were real and from her agent. Man the behind the sceens episodes with the crew were great!
5: Orlando Brown....he didn't fall off the map, he crashed off it. He had a promising career and he wrecked it...badly. He went off the rails, ranked up tons of issues and problems, and now not only he blamed his ex co-stars for his problems, he also involved in domestic battery charges against his own brother last month. And he wonders why nobody is supporting him.
Yes but he has severe mental health issues, which were extremely complicated by drug use. He isn't in his right mind. So whatever he may say or the people he may blame, I take it with a grain of salt. He has extreme psychosis and other issues. Im.not excusing bad behavior. However, his case is more complicated than you summarize. I feel sympathy for him and hope he has supportive and positive people around him to guide him into a better life. The journey is definitely not easy.
@@hydrangeas_loverI agree.
I hope he has some support too.
He looked so wasted/high on that Dr. Phil. Wow. He couldn't keep his eyes straight.
Julie Mitchum (Robert Mitchum’s sister) left Hollywood after doing only five films. Her most notable one was the Vincent Price classic, “House on Haunted Hill.”
House on Haunted Hill is one of my favorite movies of all time!
@@skinni_the_P00hBear it really is entertaining even though it's dated by today's standards.
I really feel bad for what misha barton was treated over the years
She didn't get out of her own way and was a disaster of her own making. Don't feel sorry for someone who didn't get it.
@@jbjacobs9514 don't tell me how I should feel yes she made horrible decisions but that doesn't mean she deserved to get bullied and harrassed
@@angelaholmes8888 First of all, calm the H down. Gosh, your sensitivity is only compounded by your inability to take a comment in the spirit it was intended and the fact that you are so insecure that you immediately feel threatened for no reason. Add to that that you misused being bullied and harassed. There are plenty of people that REALLY experienced those things - Mischa wasn't one of them. No one deserves bad treatment but she brought so much on herself with HER horrid behavior and substance problems.
We will always support this channel. They’re incredible at what they do.
Some People in the Industry Just Don't Wanna be Stars ... Just Want to Work &/or Make a Living
Honorable Mention goes to Lindsay Lohan. Like Amanda Bynes, I thought she was also going to have a promising career or Star, only to realize she is in having trouble like Amanda Bynes and so many celebrities
She did do a Christmas movie for Netflix last year. And most recently, she revealed she's expecting a baby.
She's better now she got married and is expecting her first child with her husband
Only difference - Lohan has never been self-aware; nor has she ever taken accountability for her actions. Amanda has mental health issues, rather than mostly sobriety issues (unlike Lohan). Lohan does have some destructive parents, though.
Lindsay’s situation is almost no different from those like Mara Wilson’s situation, not as in changing career, but as in somewhat walking away from fame, and that’s almost what Lohan did or could have done similar to Mara. Lohan have had trouble with legal issues or mental or health illness of her own through her trouble. She may be married and also expecting to start a family of her own, and it may seem like she is back on track for her career even if it is going to be short as in her retirement or so, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she is never going to have any trouble like those even if smaller
@@caetmoniza8907 Robert Downey Jr's issues were objectively worse than Lohan's. With his issues, at least he didn't have the scrutiny of the internet/social media to deal with.
I love Msmojo keep it up on ur videos
Thanks so much
I think Julia Stiles was on top of my list
I heard from a friend of mine, who is a psychologist working in the Los Angeles area that Amanda Bynes had a lot of mental problems when she went into therapy. It got so bad that she even came in wearing underwear and no pants. (This is public knowledge) I am glad to hear that she is in a better place now! I hope that she continues on the up and up.
I'm so sorry to hear Amanda Byrnes is in a better place now 😢. Condolences to the family.
Is your friend the press? LOL JK
@@dalecooper9942 I meant in the sense that she is doing better.
Great to know about Staci Kenan
People need to put more respect on the fact that Freddie Prinze Jr was an amazing writer in the #WWE He’s the reason Jeff Hardy was the WWE heavyweight champion.
Can you make a Top 20 music artists who fell off the map video
This is from a long time ago, but I was also thinking of John Barrymore, Jr. who made several well thought of films in the 1950s when he was a very young man. However, he soon fell apart due to alcohol and heaven knows what else. I was a bartender for a short while in the late 1970s and had the sad duty of throwing him out of my bar after he got drunk and abusive.
The family was a living tragedy; that is why Drew has had such a hard life too (at least did for a long time). It was like they were all cursed.
Isn't Piper Perabo on "Yellowstone" now? And, Freddie Prinze Jr. is big with the WWE now.
Pauly Shore only got his break because of who his mom is. He is a one note actor and it just got old. Encino Man and Son In Law were pretty funny.
I was totally crushing on Lautner the werewolf while watching the Twilight series...and I was in my 50's and happily married! I would have loved to see him acting in other projects.
He did but his acting was terrible. He was very quickly no longer cast
@@missybuchanan9631 That is a bummer. So H-H-HOT...was HE. He WAS my favorite in the Twilight Saga.
I was in my 40s but same. LOL He just got married to another person named Taylor! So they are both Taylor Lautner. Hilarious! He does things periodically but is careful not to be too big into the spotlight.
@@jbjacobs9514 Yeah. I just wish there was a selection of movies or TV Shows streaming Lautner projects. I would watch 'em.
My husband looks like he could be Taylor’s brother (or twin!). We went to one of the Twilight movies at the theater and got some sideways glances, lol! I agree that Taylor is hot 😉
What about Chris Klein? For a minute he was hot in the late 90s/early 2000s with American Pie and Election and then he just kind of disappeared
He’s on sweet magnolias now
Amanda Bynes didn't fall of the map. She had a straight up mental/emotional health crisis blow up, and those are still issues to this day. Worse, being a celebrity, it was gossip fodder at every turn. After that who wouldn't seek a lower profile?
I'm surprised Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen aren't on the list
Why should they be on here ...I mean they have loads and loads of money so they don't need to make anymore straight to video films or do anything else if they don't want to
@ranitagadling4312 "promising stars who fell off the map". It was just a simple observation. Wealth didn't seem to be a factor here.
W video
Being a huge MovieFan, I feel a bit bad for some of these actors and actresses,
Damn, so true 😔
Jane Child's big hit was "I Don't Want to Fall in Love". Why didn't you play that?
Josh Hartnett killed it in Oppenheimer and it is 2023
6:17 right behind Jennifer Tilly
Shannon Elizabeth. She hasn't fallen off the map, she is using her power and fame for good use. Okay, so she hated American Pie, but you know, she is doing a good job anyway
She currently lives in South Africa with her husband Simon Borchert, a native South African.
She was good looking but not the greatest actor to begin with. Glad shes doing well
Well even if these stars have fallen they're still special. Remember to have an active kindness to yourself and to someone else
Being a firefighter, and a teacher and a D.A. holds much more substance and integrity in my opinion.
I think Anna Paquin would have been a good addition to this list.
Gotta have more DIVERSE entries on these lists 💯 but interesting picks
They don't know nothin bout colored folks. Shame too.
I love Piper perabo on Yellowstone 💜💜
Acting can be overwhelming and some actors and actresses quit acting just to do something new or start a new life . Some actors and actresses keep acting till they get elderly and retire after so many years of acting 🙂.
I'm a little disappointed that you would leave Racing out for Frankie. This was uploaded today, and he's still racing. I also thought Freddie has a podcast.
Liliane was in a band VANITY THEFT. IT IS 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.
Mischa Barton has been on the Neighbours reboot this year. She’s also in this recent film called An Invitation to Murder for which she’s getting a lot of press in the UK.
Lalaine is in a Netflix film called Definition Please which came out not too long ago
In those clips of J.T.T. he reminded me of Christian Slater in several ways
