I think that's what RUclips is supposed to be all about tbh. It's the "You" in RUclips. Ordinary content creators making things with what resources they have rather than big corporate television etc. I'm certainly not a professional actor, but this is what I think RUclips was meant to be: normal people making neat things with what skills and resources they have.
This was actually my first Assault Mech. Figured out real fast it couldn't stand in a fight very long and stopped using it as much soon as i had my first Battlemaster. May take another look at it - I've learned the past couple weeks how good the smaller AC's are which is making me rethink a lot of my mech tuning.
Behind the scenes, the first prototype I tried with this Mech was as an SRM brawler. It got owned. I decided the Zeus' best feature was the huge missile hardpoint, so I built it around an LRM20, and it went much better where it felt like more an alternative to the Archer that has better close combat since it has an AC5 and 3 medium lasers. When looking at weapons, just take the damage and multiply it by the rate of fire. PPC is 120 damage per minute for example. AC5 is 200 damage per minute. This is not the ONLY factor in how good a weapon is, but it is a relevant factor. For example, if you can score headshots, 2+ heavy rifles can instantly kill a Mech which makes its DPS more important than its DPM which would be low.
I'm trying to help people get into BattleTech, so I think it's important to teach people the fundamentals. I think it also makes me more approachable because the game I'm playing is the same as the game everyone else at the base level is playing.
Very good Informations i maxed Armor and then changed the LRM 20 to a LRM 15 and put more heat sinks in and adjust the Armor took a bit away special from the legs it works goos. This Design makes also Sense i tryed it and it works good so thx for the Idea.
Thank you! Yeah, this design will feel familiar because even though I'm missing 1.31 tons of armor, the arms and body are still FULLY armored. The LRM20 does an extra 90 damage per minute up from the LRM15 which can be worth it. The cooling isn't as strong, but this design will only struggle with heat when it fires all of its weapons simultaneously, and it can still do that for a few volleys before the heat really catches up. It can also still fire its AC5/LRM20 while high on heat because the 2 heatsinks will keep up.
Nice video, I'm always glad to see more battletech related content, especially good content. As for the Zeus, I do like this suggested loadout quite alot for a introtech variant.
Yeah I originally did an SRM build, but it was always getting outgunned by other Mechs, so I doubled down on the huge large missile hardpoint and built around it. Thank you for watching!
What I do is keeping the LRM15, give it two tons of ammo, replace the large laser with a medium and the AC5 with an AC10 and two tons of ammo. 2 heat sinks and the rest armor. Should be 13.5 tons
Keep in mind that AC5 and AC10 do the same amount of damage. AC5 = 5 damage x 40 rounds per minute = 200 damage. AC10 = 10 damage x 20 rounds per minute = 200 damage. But the AC5 weighs 4 tons less.
Do you get more oomph though? You have to spend 4 tons more weight on an AC10. That means you could have upgraded other weapons on your Mech with 4 tons and had even more damage. Here are some examples. - Upgrading medium lasers to medium pulse lasers if available - Upgrading to larger SRM packs - Upgrading to larger LRM racks - More heatsinks allowing more sustained fired - Up to 4 tons more armor
@@GitGudFox yeh, I don't get more oomph if I math out the dps but 10 dmg per shot is more than 5 is what I was trying to say. But I'll admit that I like your build more than what I threw together after testing around.
I do wish that the Zeus was just a smidgen better in MW5, especially since it utterly whips ass in tabletop. 80 tons, 4/6 movement, 3 main weapons AND backup mediums, easy heat management? It's the flanker/cavalry mech that every shadow hawk wishes it could be.
Yeah I feel like the issue is that the movement doesn't translate as well into MW5. Like 64km is super slow. Honestly I don't find it to be terribly different than 44km. You can't really be too much more evasive at 64km etc. That's why I generally prefer assault Mechs that go 44km because I don't find the bump up to 64km a major strategic advantage in MW5.
Great question, honestly, I actually like the Zeus better than the Victor and the Awesome because the LRM/AC5 combination is really good. That said, I think Mechs like the Archer can still outfire support the Zeus and are available sooner. Same with the Orion.

Hahah dude! This is a really cool format 😂 I thought it was corny at first but now I'm like, damn that is super immersive! Nice work!

It's surprisingly decent after the redesign, Not bad.
It surprised me as well.
a no mods video on youtube? automatic thumbs up!

Zeus not my favorite.. my play style does not mach
well with it.... when you get back around to heavy mech's I would like to see the Quickdraw
Yeah I'm planning to sort of cycle through them light, medium, heavy, assault etc. I started with Medium, so I'll have to do 2 lights in a row.
Great help, thank you. Can you do the Hatchetman at some point.
Yeah, I rotate between the Mechs in the order of Light/Medium/Heavy/Assault looping around until I eventually finish them all.
#Uglygang is here!!!! They should make a Mech named Kratos 😂

I gotta get me some of these.
It wound up being a lot better than I thought.

Funny enough i was about to paint up one of these on tabletop
It wound up being better than I thought. Hopefully your model performs well on the table top.
Would you recommend someone to alter the zeus or replace it with an alternative 80t mech if available?

Reporting for duty great leader😊
Welcome back good sir!
