For your part 3 & 4 list: Lunar the Silver Star and Eternal Blue (Sega CD) Vay (Sega CD) Breath of Fire series (SNES) Secret of Evermore (SNES) Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (SNES) The Seventh Saga (SNES) Crystalis (NES) Drakkhen (SNES) Arcana (SNES) Dragon View (SNES) Lagoon (SNES) Paladin's Quest (SNES)
You did incredibly well with this video. And the fact you've brought up the Lufia games, and Koudelka, it shows how invested you are in sharing your love for JRPGs. Though, I am surprised you didn't mention the Lost Kingdoms games, Aidyn Chronicles for the N64, and the Baten Kaitos series for the GameCube.
Wait, Raido Kuzunoha is forgotten? I still remember that great game, especially because of Raiho XD I think most of SMT Fans are remembering this game, but maybe not so much for those who are just a RPG Player in general Wild Arms XF, i played that once and abandon it after few battles because i dislike the battle system. Mana Khemia 2, i am so mad because PSP Version isn't localized, and my PS2 broken so i can't even play them anymore..... For Koudelka when i was a kid my parents bought me PS1 alongside this game and some other games. But i choose to play Dragon Ball Final Bout, Front Mission 3, and Monster Rancher 2 that caused me to forget about this game..... R. I. P
I remember buying Mana Khemia 2, but unable to play it because the font was so damn tiny. Particularly on my small tv. So it remains unplayed to this day.
No tiene mucho que descubrí tu canal, pero te felicito, colecciono RPGs desde hace un tiempo y tus recomendaciones me han ayudado a ampliar mi colección de una manera informada, nuevamente felicitaciones
I am still trying to find out who drops panacea and where to find them on Koudelka. I have the game, and have asked all over the place about that. However not one person has answered me with the knowledge.
Thanks for including Dragoon on a list. I recently downloaded and started playing on PS3 network-the classic PS1 JRPGs with their expansive stories spanning millenia, Full Motion Videos and pixelated characters can accomplish what today's "open world" (i.e:overwhelming and tedious) JRPGS cannot.
I remember playing this game years ago, and i haven't been able to find it, due to me forgetting the name. It was a story based game that had this really unique idea of sorta mixing steampunk, mechs, and the 1930s together, and i loved playing it, but i just can't remember the name. If this rings any bells for anyone, please let me know
I played Magna Carta when i was really young. I don't remember a whole lot about it but i do remember the game at least, i think it got lost when i moved but i may buy it again at some point!
I haven't watched all your videos yet (they're great, btw!), but there are two PSX J-RPGs that I loved but were forgotten that you didn't mention : Kartia and Brigandine. I understand the criticism about the battles in Kartia (though I still liked them), but the style (drawn by Yoshitaka Amano), the story and the OST were crazy good. As for Brigandine, I still play it to this day, and I have a blast everytime. It's more a tactical RPG / wargame that might need some time to get used to its mechanics (and the game is very hard when you start!), but it's definitely worth it. Oh, and Brigandine had a "director's cut"-like version called Grand Edition, but I prefer the original (better OST & battle scenes when two units engage - if you watch videos of Brigandine online, chances are the player deactivated those scenes because they take time. They take time, sure, but they're awesome to immerse yourself into the battlefield). Oh, and thank you for reminding me of Arc the Lad Twilight of the Spirits !! I remember playing the beginning of the game, loving it, then... ...I couldn't continue playing. I don't remember what happened and don't understand at all, it's like the game went into the Twilight Zone or something. I HAVE to get my hands on it now. EDIT: Ha, I just saw the vid in which you talked about Kartia :)
brigandine, man, i remember i got so interested in that game because of a cheats magazine i had, but when i finally managed to get it, i was completely let down, it was NOT for me. its probably my biggest disapointment. not that its the fault of the game itself, but like i said, no for me.
to me forgotten is Ar Tonelico . but thanks for telling me there is mana khemia 1 for psp , i guess i am more fond of the characters and endings of the first one.
wow across 2 videos of forgotten JPRGs, there's only 1 I don't really remember....and it's only because I didn't even know about it to begin with ( that would be Wild Arms XF...I don't own a PSP and I don't follow Playstation as closely as Xbox or especially Nintendo ). I haven't played all the other games mentioned, but I do remember them. Two of my sister's favorite PS1 JRPGs seem to have been forgotten by most people as I never really see them talked about: Thousand Arms and Vanguard Bandits.
The Magna Carta artist, I recognize him, he goes by the name of Homare and is well known for his fanservice/erotic artworks and fanarts in general (like the one guy that made the art for Langrisser) so I'm not surprised that Magna Carta's art isn't the exception to his rule, what surprises me is to see that he had been working for the game industry since so long.
fun fact is that this game is not the original magna carta, the original one is know as magna carta phantom of avalanche, only in korea. and this artist made an arc the lad kind of series, war of genesis 1/2/3, with GREAT artwork, but only korea again.
Still wonder sometimes and remember the n64 games, hoping desperately for an rpg... and rushed to get Quest 64... lol! And waited so long for hybrid heaven... never played it
I got a couple of forgotten RPGs for ya, some just had no word of mouth or very limited availability. I haven't watched all of your videos yet so sorry I mention some that you've talked about... ASH 2: Shadows - sequel to pretty good rpg made by an indie company for IOS. It was supposed to be 6 chapters, I enjoyed the story but the game never made it past chapter 2. It also can no longer be puchased on IOS at all. Though if you bought you can still play it on an older IOS device. Chaos Rings 1-2 and Omega.. I think you can get these on PSP maybe....I think Chaos Rings 2 is fantastic.
This list makes me sad. Because Legend of Dragoon is a such a nice rpg for PSX, but the dialogue and plot was so simplistic and mind-numbingly boring that I can't get back into the game at my age now. I was playing it simultaneously with FF8, and found myself far more absorbed in FF8. Vagrant Story is the opposite case. I love the dialogue and plot, and want to keep going...but I haaaate the game mechanics. Specifically jumping in and out of the menu constantly to switch weapons, because your weapons adapt to the type of enemy its killing. It's too bad though. I'm a super fan of all the Ivalice games, and really wanted to enjoy Vagrant Story. I might play it with cheats though so I can go through it. Doing that with FF8 (specifically, a cheat for drawing 100 magic every time, and keeping card rules set, to avoid tedium). I've beaten the game twice without cheats, so don't judge.
Why would you be offended? If the game is not in the list, that means I don't think it's forgotten :) Its fans remember it pretty well! ...or do you...actually...HATE THE GAME and want it to be FORGOTTEN?!
_Devil Summoner - Raidou Kuzunoha_ has to be my favorite subseries(?) of the SMT brand after _Persona._ Sure, there's lots of other great SMT games, but I picked up the second one on a whim and immediately had to track down the first. Running into White Rider and the music accompanying him was also just amazing. _Magna Carta_ I recall being a game that caught my eye due to it having a really cool art style (Korean artist as I recall, which set it apart from typical JRPG art styles) but I also avoided it because it gave the impression of fan service fodder. _Wild Arms XF_ ("Don't be a square, think hex") was a solid SRPG that I absolutely loved on the PSP for having a great class system, a decent variety of mission objectives, and the hex grid. I don't recall it being received quite so poorly, but it certainly had a hard time standing out on the platform, and the unique hex design complicates a genre where most people only think in 4 directions. This whole video seems like you going down a list of some of my favorite gems in my collection.
I remember a game called the sword of etheria I liked it but I don't know if it's a forgotten game or not and people may not agree with me and I can't remember if it's a rpg or not
Erick Landon RPG , this board that is behind you with the name SEVEN SHADOWS is a video game ? this girl from the picture of the frame looks a lot like the girl from the game NIER AUTOMATA A2
you wrong erik Landon rpg. Vagrant story isn't forgot jrpg because there is psn. if is forgot he didn't on psn europe and usa in playstation 3. ( sorry for my poor english).
I'm sure he just means the style of the game, not literally what country it came from. There are western made RPGs that are still considered "JRPGs" by most people's standards.
Hmm... That shining force game seems to have very little incommon with the first shining force games. Not a strategy rpg! No beatiful child-like character design... What does the game have in common with the previous games? Ps: Tony’s chocolonely ftw?
It was made to be a different approach to other types of gamers since back then, Action RPGs were starting to become a major thing in the gaming industry. But it was sill developed by the same people, they just wanted to produce something different.
For your part 3 & 4 list:
Lunar the Silver Star and Eternal Blue (Sega CD)
Vay (Sega CD)
Breath of Fire series (SNES)
Secret of Evermore (SNES)
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (SNES)
The Seventh Saga (SNES)
Crystalis (NES)
Drakkhen (SNES)
Arcana (SNES)
Dragon View (SNES)
Lagoon (SNES)
Paladin's Quest (SNES)
fuck yeah i never hear anyone mention secret of evermore
KOUDELKA!? Yesss, biatch!
Also, cool video with very interesting titles;)
This video and the part 1 is definitely made with love and passion. Remniscing about these games is really fun
I always enjoy your RPG reviews man. Keep them coming.
Thanks
i wasn't much for the first devil summoner: raidou kuzunoha vs but i absolutely enjoy the second one. the battle system is so much better.
A forgotten JRPG... the first one that comes to my mind is Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits. So underrated that hurts. It was a fantastic game.
JMSLionheart Haha, you should watch part 1 ;)
After watching part 1 I can say that you've gained a new subscriber.
Thank you!!!!
I like Koudelka...
Little known fact: Vagrant Story is officially a part of the "Ivalice Alliance" of games that flesh out the world surrounding Final Fantasy XII
Thanks, man.
Mana Khemia 2 is my all time favorite. I still own this game. Also the first one.
Thank you for everything, your videos are so relaxing and interesting
The Legend of Dragoon is one of the best RPG games
i loved magna carta. a good battle system and a very, very good story
Wait, Raido Kuzunoha is forgotten? I still remember that great game, especially because of Raiho XD I think most of SMT Fans are remembering this game, but maybe not so much for those who are just a RPG Player in general

I loved Mana Khemia 2. It was way better than the first one IMO. It deserves more attention!
YES!
Saludos!!
consider brigandine legend of forsena for part 3! amazing game

Legend of Dragoon isn't forgotten. It made greatest hits publications. Its on the PSN listed as a classic.
Yeah, dude, thanks for sharing your opinion.
I recently went back and finished Vagrant Story; it was good, but not my favorite
I played Magna Carta when i was really young. I don't remember a whole lot about it but i do remember the game at least, i think it got lost when i moved but i may buy it again at some point!

It's criminal that Square hasn't done an HD remaster of Vagrant Story. I cry every time anyone brings up that game.
im still waiting for their crossover vagrant story and parasite eve. alas, it seems it will never happen...
Shina from Caballeros Del Zodiaco! Amazing easter egg!
I really want to play Koudelka it is a prequel to Shado Hearts. Two of the characters show up. Danm now I wanna play Shadow Hearts!
No ar tonelico? 😂😂 I personally only know a hand full of people who played one or two
I used to have Kudelka. I beat it and liked it.
Just to note: mana khemia is part of the atelier series
Have you talked about the atelier series in full before?
No, I haven't, and yes, I knew Mana Khemia was part of the Atelier series, I just didn't mention it.
wow across 2 videos of forgotten JPRGs, there's only 1 I don't really remember....and it's only because I didn't even know about it to begin with ( that would be Wild Arms XF...I don't own a PSP and I don't follow Playstation as closely as Xbox or especially Nintendo ). newageBoundhippie I've got both. Bandits is still in its sealed plastic

Enjoyed the video as always.
So glad to read this. Thank you so much.
people dont talk about mana khemia 2 because it's a neutered version of mana khemia 1, IMO!
Saga frontier 2
threads of life
Grandia 3
Vanguard bandits
Tales of Destiny 2
Tomba 2 (if considered as rpg :D)
I got a couple of forgotten RPGs for ya, some just had no word of mouth or very limited availability. I haven't watched all of your videos yet so sorry I mention some that you've talked about... What about Ring of Red ? I almost never heard anyone talking about it.
Is it Japanese?
Yes, it s made by Konami on ps2.
ring of red has interesting elements, but seriously was meh at best
want a forgotten masterpiece jrpg? radiata story should pick your interest. tri ace made, incredible system of night day, recruit EVERYONE etc etc
or infinite space. god i love this game. feels like suikoden meets albator and mass effect, with a gran turismo like roster of spaceships.
They'e really good games, both of them.

i judged you though, no offense
it's been said that the same people who developed Vagrant Story were the same who designed the battle system of Final Fantasy 12.
Great list!
Gracias.
I just realized you have a saint seiya poster on the back
Everyone , and i mean everyone forgets about the tactic style jrpg called Makai Kingdom , a disgea spinoff.
You're so damn right! Even me! I'll make sure to include it in a video some day.
for real secret of evermore needs to be on one of these lists
It's a WESTERN RPG, man. However, I agree that it's a forgotten game.
Muy bueno, pero porque no hablas en español como en el otro canal ?
Observa la cantidad de visitas y suscriptores de ambos canales y con eso te contesto todo =)
Legend of Dragoon is my favorite JRPG all time.
koudelka is phenomenal
very good i like it
I’m offended. No mention of Radiata Stories
Why would you be offended? If the game is not in the list, that means I don't think it's forgotten :) Its fans remember it pretty well!

hope robinson its more action to me.
decent game by the way
Erick Landon RPG , this board that is behind you with the name SEVEN SHADOWS is a video game ?
this girl from the picture of the frame looks a lot like the girl from the game NIER AUTOMATA
A2
Hello. Seven Shadows is a book I wrote and published, not a videogame and nothing to do with Nier. :)
What video game or anime,is on the thumbnail of this video?
Preeeeeeeeeetty sure you'll see the guy in the video, mate. :)
glad Dragon Quest 9 did not fail
I want to play theas games
you wrong erik Landon rpg. Vagrant story isn't forgot jrpg because there is psn. if is forgot he didn't on psn europe and usa in playstation 3. ( sorry for my poor english).
I'm not wrong, it's just a matter of perspective.
Magna carta is korean rpg though, not a jrpg
I'm sure he just means the style of the game, not literally what country it came from. There are western made RPGs that are still considered "JRPGs" by most people's standards.

Erick Landon RPG Are there any recognizable enemies or something like that?
Nope. Both PS2 titles have no connection to previous games in the series whatsoever.
dude never EVEN take a look at shining refrain, if you dont want to puke everywhere.
alver caine So stick to shing force like there was no tomorrow!?
Ps: Tony’s chocolonely ftw!
Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts 2
Chandra Yohanes not forgotten
Magna Carta is a horrible game in all aspects. Just awful. The battle system is terrible
Stewart M sharing an opinion without elaborating on why you feel that way is really not helpful to anyone.
