Awesome review mate, I'm looking for a mop vacuum robot and you helped me so much. Very comprehensive and detailed comparison, you should be on top of reviewers
Thanks for this detailed review. I just used your affiliate link to purchase the Q7 Max on Amazon today - Prime Day deal for $359! Your review helped me narrow down the choice of vacuum for my new apartment. Keep up the good work!
this was actually the most helpful review i've seen, and i've scoured the web for them, thanks i would like to know if it drips when you leave water in the tank of the Q7 max though
Thanks for the top-notch analysis. It helped a lot in deciding which model to choose. I don't really need the mopping feature, but still chose the Q7 Max over the Q7, because I like that I can control everything via the app versus a plastic lever. Also, I get a better price for the Q7 Max than the Q7 here in Germany (20 EUR less). I decided to not get the "+" version as I do not see that big of an increase in comfort in emptying the dust bin less often to justify 100 EUR higher price just for that (460 EUR for the Q7 Max+, 350 EUR for the Q7 Max). NOTE: The Q5 seems to not be available (anymore) on the German/EU market. Maybe they stopped selling it with the relaese of the S8-Series.
@@stanislavkindiakov6334 how frequently do you have to mop after you bought this robot? It is really worth it? I’m tired of cleaning, vacuuming and mopinh all weeks. Sorry for the questions I’m debating buying it, I have an apartment of 45 m2. Vielen dank😅
@@themurphy1245 no worries, I am glad to answer. I am lazy ass, I mop only when there are some sticky spots on kitchen floor, everything else is cleaned by robot good enough. Also there is often a problem that robo chokes itself with my forgotten sock or charging cable. For sloppy people like me, more expensive s8 version with camera makes sense, it just avoids obstacles on the floor.
Thank you So Much for putting in this much effort for just 1(2) SKU's of many many robot vacuums out there. It helps a ton for me whom this may be my first foray into robot vacuums. Definitely interested in this one.
Thank you for this. It came just in time too because I was also looking at this as an option over the s7maxv ultra. I think this option would be perfect for my home 😊
Great review. Very informative. Q7 and Q7 Max perform better on the carpet with the bristle main brush from Q5, particularly for pet hair pick-up. The main brushes are interchangeable. All brushes are equally good on hard floors. Love my Roborocks.
I tested the S7 MaxV with the Q5 brush for carpet deep cleaning, and it didn't make any difference. Unfortunately, I didn't run any tests with pet hair on carpet.
Are you sure it fits the Q7 max? I called them they said it didn't. It's terrible at pet hair honestly. Not impressed with Q7 max all around seems to barely work and no pet hair pick up. Oooof.
What about Q8 Max? May I expect it reviewed soon? I like your reviews and find them the best ones on YT. I have a dog leaving a lot of her fur, so I hope Q8 Max will be better than Q7 Max - I am just wondering how it performs in your tests. Thanks for your comprehensive, and analytical videos!
Awesome review very helpful! Quick Question for the Q7 and Q7 Max. If you have a door mat/carpet will it vacuum that if the mop is on? Can you turn off the mop setting so it will vacuum it or do you have to take the mop off the device completely to get it to vacuum that carpet? Thanks!
I will answer this. After you map your home initially, it let's you set "No-go" and "No-Mop" zones that it won't go into or won't mop in ever through the app. So you'd utilize this feature to set that kind of thing up.
I will correct you based on what I've heard from many other people and from Roborock themselves. It doesn't detect when it's bin is full so it doesn't know and therefore will only return to the dock and empty when it's job is complete. This can cause issues because when the bin is full it will stop picking stuff up. Also, I'd like to know does the dock itself hold water and can it auto fill the water tank and empty it? Otherwise, great video.
I am thinking about buying the Q7 Max + as its seems to be a good price/value. However usually I run the robot when I am not home and as in 2 rooms I have smaller carpets I am not sure if the carpets wouldn't get wet. When mopping mat is installed and it runs on carpet, does it automatically stop mopping? Or will it mop also the carpet? Could you please advise if this can be somehow managed remotely via app? Thanks in advance :)
I just bought this product. From my impressions, I would say that you can control the max remotely. You can set up a program for mopping that excludes certain areas (carpets) for the mopping program.I found this product on sale without plus docking station for 400. So far my wife is very happy
@@themurphy1245 we are largely satisfied. We have a single floor home…. There have been a few occasions when it has eaten something. We mostly use it in safe areas that need more cleaning like the kitchen. The relatively small mop pad sort of works… but is a bit hard to clean, and will not pick up a lot. We do two passes when mopping
Having used robotic vacuum cleaners for nearly 20 years back i always find these things interesting and also in my latest Roborock Q7 Max but whats aint fun are the parts like battery and more who after some years gets impossible to get without visiting a far away online store with a different pirate copy of the original to a machine who have lots of life left but cant be used when spare parts are long gone. A many times bad waste of good hardware.
It seems like no robot vacuum can deal with long hair without it tangling on the rollers. Some will do more, some a little less. But they all do it. So the fact that the hair is so easy to remove from the Roborock rollers is a plus I would say.
for me in my country. you have to pay the double to get the Q7 Max +. so i would rather shoot for the normal Q7 Max if you look price wise. If it was just a 100 or 150 dollars expensivier then ofc i would reconsider.
Please note:- Your comment favouring the Q5, if mopping isn't required, doesn't apply in Australia as the Q5 isn't sold in this country and possibly others.
@@huntingaliens5477Yeah I got the Q7 Max+ and I'm surprised by the amount of pet/human hair it picks everyday. I'm a guy with a short hair living alone with only 2 cats. I imagine it will be worse for fuller houses with women.
Yes, if you buy the self empty dock separately it should also come with a compatible dust bin. You just put that dust bin in your robot and you're all set.
7:48 you say q7 max is only compatible with its docking station. So if you buy the self empty station separately on a later date how would you program it to go to the new dock/cleaning station?

Is the robot for the Q7 Max and the Q7 Max+ the same? If so, if I buy the Q7 Max and the compatible dust bin, am I essentially buying the Q7Max+?
Yes, both robots are identical. If you buy the Q7 Max and an auto-empty dock separately you are buying the equivalent of a Q7 Max+.

So helpful, would you recommend this model over all the other in the midrange section ?
If you need to vacuum and mop, yes. If you only need to vacuum I recommend the Q5.
Assuming price is the same, would you prefer Q7 Max + or the S7 + for a house that is 50/50 hardwood and carpet. Mopping would be important as well.
Q7 MAX imo.
thank for this video
Amazing review. Why is bekg about to control the drip rate important? Would you not just have it at the same all the time?
If you have a very dirty floor, or a floor that absorbs a lot vs a little

Please note:- Your comment favouring the Q5, if mopping isn't required, doesn't apply in Australia as the Q5 isn't sold in this country and possibly others.
It is sold in the U.S
Q7 max is a rebranded Chinese T8. Ironically has little to do with the normal Q7 which is a hybrid platform based on mixed robots.
Maybe i didnt understand the metrics, so i want to ask - does that mean that Dreame Z10 pro does better job than Q7 Max+?
I'm buying the Q7 Max+ as it is on sale. But on another comment, where do you get all the human and pet hair for your tests? 😶
Easy. Long hair women, we shed a lot. Just pick up the brush and bam. Hair. For pets. If you have one just brush it and bam hair

This one has avoidance object feature? Like avoid dog poops?
Most robot vacs don't avoid poop and will spread it and smear it everywhere I've heard
No it does not.
Thanks that was very helpful
How did you get the Q7 to do the cleaning in two direction?
If you watched the video, it should do it naturally
What's the avoidance like?
It does not have any avoidance feature
What about Roborock Q8 Max ?
Q7 is on sale on amz rn for 220$
Dooes it work with the Mi Home app or only the Roborock app?
Just got this one, and now I see it doesn't have better max suction than Q5... False advertisement?
