So, about the names: Taiga is of course the biome that Finland is found in, but when pronounced in Finnish it sounds like "taika", meaning magic. Ukko is an ancient god figure of the finns. Kirnu is a churn. Tulireki is a fire sleigh. Salama is a lightning. Hurjakuru is a wild gorge.
The wooden coaster actually has pretty intense air time if you sit at the front. You'll jump out against the lap bar (which doesn't touch you lap so it is an actual jump). It's at the hill top after the second double down.
Nice! You missed the one older coaster inside the round building at the center of the park. It's called Linnunrata ("the milky way") that has a VR set update. Earlier it had only a space theme made out of styrofoam. It's jerky, a bit camp, but it's my favourite after Taiga and wooden coaster there.
@@Pilvikissa24It's not mandatory, but they've removed so much of the old props that it's not the same as before and kind of pointless. Unless they've put them back this year, but I doubt it since they've been gone for the past two years.
I really want to get on Taiga, might become my Top 1… actually almost had the occasion to get in Linnanmaki since I did a school trip to Finland including 3 or 4 days to Helsinki, unfortunately for me it was the off-season . Still went to see Taiga and the other rides from outside the park, they’re impressive, especially Taiga! Being able to walk in a random street with this monster behind a fence on the side is something
Very emotional…. it felt like I was there with you guys since I was there since the beginning💛🇫🇮 I’m grateful for our virtual memories ありがとうございます🙏🏻またね👋🏻
Hi, finn here! Glad you made the trip to my home park! Also Ukko doesn't really mean anything in English, but it is the name of basically Zeus of Finnish mythology
I'm with you on ukko feeling actually unsafe lmao, normally when you go upside down you have good speed so it feels fun, but with ukko you go soooo slow lmao
If you happen to ever visit Finland again, you absolutely MUST visit Särkänniemi! It's in my hometown of Tampere, as you probably know, and there are some actually fun rides, like Tornado and Hype! Loved this video btw! So cool you guys visited Linnanmäki!
Taiga is another one of my top bucket list coasters. I have no doubts at all how much I would love it. It is definitely my type of coaster. It seems to be somewhat of a mixture of VelociCoaster and Maverick (2 of my favorite roller coasters) in many of its aspects. Maybe I'm wrong about that... but it does give me that impression. I'm quite sure that if I had the opportunity, I would be riding Taiga over and over again in a day at Linnanmaki.
Waited to watch your blitz coaster rankings before finishing this series. Excited to see where Taiga ranks. Visually I think it’s amazing. The bright blue track coupled with that orange train is a great combo in my opinion
Great review! I'm not a fan of rollercoasters (was traumatized as a kid in the 90's in the states in some Ohio park) but two years ago did Taiga. For reasons unknown to me I agreed to Taiga as the first ride and immediately Kirnu next. Rough, but I can see why people rate Taiga so high. I'm planning to have another go!
The video, although incredible quality, doesn't do the ride justice, this is the most scary ride I've ever been on, it's INCREDIBLY fast, I felt like I was gonna fall every second of the ride :D :D
My children and I love Taiga :-) - great you came to visit Finland. I think it is quite similar to "Bluefire" in Europapark in Rust, which I love, too 🙂
I really recommend the other big amusement parks in finland, powerpark and särkänniemi, there's also some smaller amusement parks in finland, like tykkimäki, but they're not that good
Really enjoyed this vlog, was cool to see your reactions to Taiga🦅 I love this ride so much. It has been my number one for two years (it just got dethroned by freaking Eejanaika) and I cannot say enough good things about it. I feel like Taiga is a great showcase of what modern Intamin can do and what they’re capable of nowadays. Like Taiga packs in the best characteristics and elements of the blitz coaster model into one ride. Like you said, it’s so enjoyable, pure fun while not being to overly insane and a coaster you could ride all day long. After each and every ride, it grew more on me and I still stand by the fact that this is the best and especially well rounded coaster in Europe. I could go on and on with this ride, it’s so beautiful to look at, the soundtrack by Imascore is amazing, the trains are some of the coolest I’ve ever seen and the location of the ride and how it goes down this massive hill and is eventually even the first thing you see when coming to Linnanmäki (for us at least) is also spectacular. When going to Europe, Taiga should definitely not be missed🔥
I love the wooden rollercoaster. It's pretty much the only rollercoaster I have courage to enter lol. I've only been to Salama and some other indoor space rollercoaster.
I went to Kirnu when it was new. A fun short ride otherwise, I don't know if it was my own fault or not but whilst I was holding for dear life with everything I got, my leg got a huge scrape onto it from some part that was in the leg area. It didn't need anything to be done to it afterwards, but it was uncomfortable enough not to get back and try that machine again 😅
Hi Marc, it was nice to follow your Europe trip. Helsinki is also on my bucket list but I will probably only manage to go there next year. I hope you will do a new top 50? coaster list after you have experienced most of the European top coasters,
That Vuristorata coaster is better than the one at Bakken because it still has the brakeman. However, the one in Bakken has that one detail going into the tunnel... You know the one.
When I was like 6yrs old I went to Linnanmäki with my mom and my uncle. I wanted to ride the wooden rollercoaster (vuoristorata) with my uncle. BIG mistake! My uncle was very big and fat and I was so little. I don't know how they let us ride together because the safety bar wasn't even close to me. There was no problems until the big jump where I flew up from my seat and headbutted another passenger in front of me. Glad I didn't fall from the side! Last time I rode anything with my uncle xD
My question is that should Taiga have break runs to have better hourly capacity? I was really bummed at its first year when you had to wait around 1,5h to get to ride it.
The wooden coaster every brakeperson is different. Some of them give littlebit more speed. And some of them has been many MANY years as woodencoaster brakeperson. Not sure who's been there longest now, but there's been dudes whos been brakeman as long as 20years or some.
Oh yeah, Tulireki is... rough. I remember the first time I rode it, it was hard to get to lap bar on correct tightness, at first it was one step too loose but then I managed to push it tighter mid-ride... right before the break for the end of the ride so I got air punched out. I still sort of like the ride and go to ride Tulireki every time I go to Linnanmäki. I do prefer the old wooden coaster more. And taiga... I ride with my eyes closed.
Great vlog, you earned yourself a new subscriber! Just want to point out that you missed one major coaster there called Linnunrata 😅 It is inside that big round building (old water tower). It is basically Finland's space mountain and it even has VR if you want to ride it with VR.
Thank you so much! We had the chance to experience the indoor roller coaster and thought it was pretty dull. Honestly though, i’m not sure where my review went 😂
@@CoasterDash ah alright, no problem. Nice to hear that you liked it here. Ukko is the God of thunder in Finnish mythology (like Thor) and it also means an "old geezer" in modern language.
