" little strong but good" That was a great line! I used to watch The Honeymooners every night at 11:30PM on channel 11 throughout most of the 70s. Every episode was a masterpiece.
That moment when Alice bails out Ralph, not that she even knew about the bet, gets me everytime. It's a beautiful thing when a person is there to support their spouse no matter how stupid and ridiculous they act.
I'm glad they changed. Used to be "One of these days, Alice, Pow1 Straight to the moon," and insults, then romance like this, then back to the insults in the 60's.
The classic 39 episodes were all fantastic, but I always judge the better ones by their ending. There were many great endings, but none better than this!
@@petergrossett6763 It maybe unbelievable, but I have seen it happen, a bloke we used to drink with used to get legless every night, so the barstaff reduced the amount of rum in his drink to almost zero, just enough to taste, the poor fellow still got paralletic but didnt have the usual hangover in the morning. Fact.
I love this show!! One of the funniest lines is when Ralph's mother-in-law came to visit, and she was "Pushing His Buttons", and he lost his temper, at that time he shouted:"Your Mother's A Babbermouth..."!! One of the funniest scenes on television ever!!

I loved the honey nooners it brings memories back to me when I was younger than now and I still love it 😍 Jackie Gleason your the greatest god bless you buddy
Oh you meant the show itself! I especially loved the fact the show took place in Brooklyn, particularly Bushwick Brooklyn - where Jackie Gleason was brought up! I lived in that part of Brooklyn and on Himrod Street in my teens - and loved it when Ralph mentioned certain Streets I occasionally walked up and down on.I felt it was great The MTA honored Jackie Gleason and the cast by naming a Brooklyn Depot The Honeymooners Bus Depot - and placing the logo on the side next to the door saying, "You are riding on The Honeymooners Bus. 'I remember one episode, and this may not be the script verbatim, but Ralph came home and was upset about the job and stated: "I drive up and down Madison Avenue all day. Today there was a line of passengers getting ready to come on the bus. OUT OF ALL THOSE PASSENGERS ONLY ONE WOMAN PASSENGER HAD THE RIGHT CHANGE...and she was on the WRONG bus! besides this. the MTA decides to raise the fares...do they raise the fares to something easy like .15 NO They decide to raise the fare to .13! I am playing with pennies all day!" THIS IS ONE REASON THE MTA HONORED THE SHOW YES YES YES!
Jackie Gleason hated rehearsing. There were many times when he would forget the line or mess it up sometimes. The cast was always ready to jump in to help. At 5:41 Carney ad libs a line as Gleason was late with his entrance. This was as real as it got. If you watch closely or repeat times these bloopers can be caught. But it just added more fun to the show.

If anyone were to watch this and say, "oh I've seen a plot like that before" . They would be right. Many shows will go back to the classics like The Honeymooners and steal their bits. If you seen it before, now you're seeing the original (and oftentimes, the best).
This was on channel 11 late night in New York and I must have watched every episode 10 times as a teenager. Never missed til I went off to college. Love the upload 👍

This was so hysterical 🤣 sewing the chicken to his shirt Norton says hey got a new watch on. Then putting 3 lbs of rice in water reminds me of the I love Lucy episode when Ricky and Fred cooked while Lucy and Ethel went to work. That’s toxic. You males wanna be able to do whatever you want? That’s why death and war and poverty and your ancestors probably had to live through hell.
I watch these late at night on RUclips it's very hard to make me laugh but these guys got me laughing out loud by myself unbelievable.... My one uncle was a police officer is a twin for Gleason
It always brings a tear to my eyes when Alice forgives Ralph. What a concept that Jackie came up with in all these shows. Never really making fun of religion, nationality, or others’ persona. Mostly about 13:08 himself.
That would be nice, and everyone in this case would be safer. Drinking, big deal, its a mockery, it really makes nothing better in relationships or not, when inmoderate. Love this show.
It’s incredible that this show dates from the 1950’s when TV was all about sitcoms set in the middle class suburbs. Here is a sitcom set in a blue collar working class one-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn. A bus driver and a sewer worker. I can’t think of any other sitcom that was set in such a blue collar setting until All in the Family.

They really think they were drinking wine when it was REALLY Grape juice..EPIC!🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂👍👍👍
I was 12 when this show first aired, now I am 74 and it get's funnier with time ! These shows were done live, all mistakes were left in !!
hope you're hanging in there young man.
J. R. Hardy what mistakes!! 👍👍
Scott Russell... I'd say Norton missing the glass while pouring another glass of wine was a mistake and Ralph's line right after was improvised
I’d say missing the glass, when your “acting drunk”, is par for the course. As is any language cues.
Yes I knew that ,I forget the episode but theres one where Ralph calls Alice Audrey! Lol
" little strong but good" That was a great line! I used to watch The Honeymooners every night at 11:30PM on channel 11 throughout most of the 70s. Every episode was a masterpiece.
That's how I discovered the show, too.
It sounded like he called the man "Joe Vegetable," @ 6:56, lol
That line is even funnier when you know what a big drinker he was.
Alice should have got an Oscar for just this performance. She she was rock solid calm while Ralph told her he is the boss. Amazing actor

Not with women. You allow them to act stupid like that, they begin to act like they are entitled to everything and start disrespecting you
Brought tears to my eyes when Ralph knew she was covering up his mistake. What an heart warming show. Classic actors...
Love the Honeymooners ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
There isn’t one single show on tv that even comes close to the Honeymooners!!!
That was one of Alice’s greatest moments. 💙
Alice always protected Ralph. He was so determined to make a better life but Alice always stood by no matter what.
It always makes me tear up when Ralph realizes how much Alice loves him.

What makes this so great is the knowledge that the majority of the dialogue in the drinking scene was most likely improvised! What great actors!

By Jackie no doubt
Well it was powerful stuff they were drinking.
Great example of the power of mind over matter: Ralph & Ed getting "drunk" over what they thought was wine but was actually grape juice - lol.

YEah, and Ralph times his mother in law and says to Alice he gives her three minutes until an insult ...and he was right!

And it’s usually all about sex, not good clean humor…
A sad commentary about today’s humor!!
Either that's wine on the table or somebody was just stabbed upstairs!!! Bwahahahaha! Hysterical. One of my favs!
They brought in Audrey Meadows to play Ralf's wife and no one in the world could top Audrey Meadows playing the part! She was great!!!
