    As an Indonesian, I love watching you enjoying some Indonesian dishes. But sadly you invited the wrong guest host for your video. She didn't explain the dishes at all, even made some mistakes, like when she said soto betawi had chicken in it instead of beef, or when she explained nasi bungkus usually wrapped in pandan leaves instead of banana leaves. Kinda disappointing and a bit annoying at some point. She's so lack of information.
    Fyi, sate (or foreigners call it satay) is not a typical home dish. If we want sate, we buy them from sate stalls or sate carts in the street. We only grill sate by ourselves whenever there's some celebration or gathering.
    Second fyi, soto is a type of soup in Indonesia with a stronger taste and use more spices and herbs compared to regular soup. In general there are two types of soto: clear broth soto and creamy soto (using either coconut milk or cow milk). There are so many kind of soto in Indonesia. Almost every region has their own soto specialty. For example Soto Betawi, this one is Jakarta specialty. Betawi people are the native ethnic group of Jakarta. And the soto ayam you ate is famously known as Soto Ayam Lamongan, from Lamongan Regency, East Java.
    Some culinary vocabs for you as a bonus:
    Nasi = rice
    Nasi kuning = yellow rice
    Nasi bungkus = wrapped rice
    Mie = noodle
    Goreng = fried
    Gorengan = fritters
    Soto = Indonesian soup
    Pedas = spicy (hot)
    Manis = sweet
    Asin = salty
    Enak = delicious
    (Daging) Ayam = chicken (meat)
    (Daging) Sapi = beef (meat)
    (Daging) Kambing = goat (meat)
    (Daging) Babi = pork (meat)
    Ikan = fish
    Udang = shrimp
    Cumi = squid
    Telur = egg
    Jagung = corn
    Sayur = veggies
    Lontong = cylinder-shape rice cake wrapped in banana leaves
    Ketupat = diamond-shape rice cake wrapped in coconut leaves

      Completely agree w/ you abt the female guest. She added NOTHING of value to this video & clearly made a few mistakes on the dishes. Don’t expect much from Instagram girls 🙄.
      I been to this restaurant 5 times. It’s nothing special, but I go there when I want a break from Simpang. Lol.

    The oldest document ever found about satay is actually in java. It spread throughout the region, yes indeed all the way to singapore, malaysia, thailand etc. Same can be said about sambal, also in java. Also rendang, west sumatra etc. Sure you can say singaporean style satay, malaysian style rendang, but when asked the origin...it is indonesia. Same argument can be made for pizza, italians will start world war if new yorkers claim pizza to be theirs. Sure you have new york style pizza, but pizza's origin, still italy. Same thing with fries...belgium has their own style of fries, and the dutch as well...but again its origin? French fries. I could go on and on.

      @@louislin9 Sadly, it was closed sometime in the beginning of the pandemic, not sure if it is due to that or the owner getting old and retired. None are remotely as good as they are! 😫

    Ahh as Indonesian I feel a bit dissapointed that the girl didn't give Excitement comments and explanantion better than the rockstar. She just gave commented "yeah..... yeah... right.....right...wooo" then continue eating lack of exciting facial expression. She should be the one that represent and explain very well all the foods. It's really too bad, Rockstar should invite another person. Just too bad. Because all of the foods I can imagine are the best part of delicious Indonesian foods. So really too bad.
