For the most part, sales reps aren't the most knowledgeable when it comes to product specs, weights, FET, etc. Obviously the folks at Luxe aren't the norm and I applaud them for that. Great stuff JB!
I realize you didn't have the Brinkleys to compare at the time of this video, but now that they are on the market I'm pretty sure that if you compare build quality and what you get for your money you might just change your mind. Hands down the build quality is better with the Brinkley and you get a massive number of "upgrades" that are included in the price of a Brinkley.....all for about $50k less. I checked out the Luxe RV's and left feeling like you did....these are incredible and this is what I want. Then I went and saw the Brinkleys and took the time to actually compare EVERYTHING from the plumbing quality, materials used where you never see it, reputation of the owners, customer service, literally EVERYTHING and it was no contest anymore.
I just know that you ordered your Ram 5500 from Cory before you left. That is an awesome truck. Thanks JB and Cory for the review and information about the Luxe Ram 5500. I like that truck bed on the Ram 5500.
I love those style beds on a dually. I’d take mine in red with a polished aluminum bed, which plenty of chicken lights and chrome! 😂 Nice video. I liked his comment about not having the capability on paper to handle the trailer. That is such a true statement. I think a lot of guys get mad when you say well you don’t have the capacity for that trailer and they think that means the truck can’t handle it. These modern trucks can definitely handle it but there’s the potential for all sorts of liability problems if something happens while towing. The axle ratings are what’s important and the manufacturers stated max payload always keep you under the axles max capacity.
@@JB_WhoWork yes sir. And also give realistic tow ratings for certain trucks. 2500s are pretty high but 3500 duallies are in the stratosphere. I guess the worst offenders though are half tons. Some of those are rated as high as 2500s. And some trucks can never get to their ratings because of payload limitations.
I think I saw a 14000# towing capacity for a half ton and I was literally laughing out loud. The numbers are silly like you said but people are silly to believe they can pull 12k+ with a half ton 🤷♂️
@@JB_WhoWork Yeap. 100%. The size and type of trailer is the most important determining factor in my opinion of what truck you need, followed closely by your intended usage. You should do a video on that. Like a 1500 is fine for almost any type of open trailer, even up-to 10,000 pounds. But towing 5,000 pounds in an enclosed trailer or camper is a totally different experience than even 10,000 on an open trailer. Just like the guy in the video mentioned, their RVs are really heavy with a lot of pin weight and so even a 3500 dually will be pushed to the max or beyond.
These 5500 rams built out like this are a ram man’s dream truck. I’ve watched many videos about these trucks set up like this and if I could afford it I would have it in my driveway today. They are very expensive though and if you talk to some of these long time full timers pulling big rigs they will say buy a 18 wheelers tractor used. I watch several full timers that use a tractor to pull these big fith wheels and they will never go back to a 3509-5500.
I would only get a tractor if I could get a small car to fit, even the 5500 are big, I can’t imagine living with a Freightliner day to day and I know my wife wouldn’t drive it. Like Cory said, 19500 GVWR is the cutoff before you get into tax/usage issues depending on what state you live in 👍🏾
One big disadvantage to a semi is the lose of 4wd. If you can do without that then they definitely would tow a fifth wheel with ease. Sometimes in campgrounds I’ve had to use 4wd because of loose gravel or mud along a creek campsite and if I was driving one of our semis we use for work I guarantee I would have needed a tow.
Great video!! We just took delivery of our 2019 Luxe and I have a 5500 on order from a dealer. I am going a different route as far as upfit but if I had an extra 20-30k for Body Werks I would do that all day long.
Does Cory (or you) like the Kelderman suspension more than Liquid Springs? I'm wanting to build out a RAM 5500 and single it out but I'm unsure which direction to go for suspension. I'll be hauling a heavy truck camper and occasionally towing a trailer less than 10k pounds. Thanks for the great content.

I don’t think that’s a bad price if you are full time. I’d rather have a truck with more capacity than I need then trying to upgrade later if you ever decide to get another trailer.
That kind of money and they use a cheap light setup inside the tool boxes? They could’ve used LED lighting for a cleaner and brighter setup. They build a nice fifth wheel no doubt but when it comes to custom hauler trucks I’d have to go with Classy Chassis.
Haha, when you have passive income and a business, it’s all about right offs… You either pay taxes or depreciation, I don’t think our government needs anymore money to give to other countries 🫢
@@JB_WhoWork I spent 40+ years in finance biz 30+ as an owner. I told my clients you can’t right off more than you make and no one is in a 100% tax brackets. So be happy to pay a large tax bill it means you had a large profit. 99% of the time I had to have a client write a 6 figure check to the irs it meant they had a great year.

Cory mentioned the 19500 GVWR was exempt but every state is different. I’m sure 20k GVWR is when you get into excise tax
