- Fortunately, Dick Wolf had nothing to do with this series.

RUMINATIONS: I honestly cannot remember much of anything about this one. A lot of the works of Maximum Press tend to blend together in their utter blandness, though I think this is the one where I got flack for the "one shoulderpad" thing that I harped on. I recall this being the episode I made just before going to Chicago to film the Alone in the Dark review with Doug and Spoony... uhhh... I recall being happy I could make a "Bees. My God" reference in it since surprisingly there are fewer opportunities to reference it than you might think.
Aaaand that's pretty much it. A bland comic that I doubt I'll ever revisit in the future.
You have no idea how disappointed I am that this comic has nothing to do with the TV show.
To be fair, it's better that way. Who wants to see Ben or Jack in a shitty Liefeld comic? Not even Peter should be caught dead in one and the man's been drinking recklessly and sleeping around to a fault of sexual allegations against him since his sister was murdered so close to losing his father when he debuted the week Raúl Esparza left to do Chess. And even Esparza's departure was shitty. Like if LJN made a video game of a trainwreck, we'd be forced to play as Barba kills that suffering baby.
I thought it was connected to the TV show due to its name lol
Meh. Sucks anyway.
Law and Order. Special Fan-service Unit.
perfect joke
In the criminal justice system, comic based offenses are considered especially heinous.
In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Comic Unit. These are their stories.
There is actually some practicality to having a single shoulder-pad. The sword arm may not have one, so it can move more freely. And the shield arm has a pad because that's the defensive arm. Then again, this concept applies to *swords* battle. Not guns.
Dragon Sword he mentioned it in his top 15 screw ups.
I would like to add some more grief to the pile of others complaining; when I heard "Law & Order - Drawn by Rob Liefeld," I got more excited than I could ever really justify.
Linkara: "Order is partnered up with this guy named, "Law"."
Rico (From Judge Dredd): "LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW!"
Sorry, I can't help it. XD
"..these tall Yodas..."
So basically the namekians . . . oh my god, Yoda is a dbz character . . .
Obi Wan Kenobi : Anakin, what does the scouter say about his midichlorians?
Anakin Skywalker : .... Its over.... ~crushes scouter~ 9000~!!!
No, they already did something like that in Episode I.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: "The readings are off the charts: Over 20,000."
Right. And Dumbledore is a power rangers character
Luke: Little Green, Why?!
Yoda: Because my name is Yoda
Anakin: Save my wife.....
Yoda: Okay...what's my name?
Anakin: Oh, don't be that guy
Yoda: I'm so gonna be that guy
Anakin: Little...Green?
Yoda: No, no no...It's Yoda. Say it.
Anakin: Heal her...Yoda
Yoda: Now that you mention it...no
Luke: Well, I'm gonna call you Little Green
Yoda: YOU WILL CALL ME YODA! YODA! SAY IT!
Luke: YODA! YODA!
Yoda: No.....Super Master Yoda....
@@Tareltonlives Your white mage, I am.
The single shoulderpad is also an aesthetic thing. Some people find the asymmetry pleasing to the eye. So I don't really sweat it that much XD
I think the biggest missed opportunity with this review was the lack of even a single reference to the TV show....kind of makes me hope for a second issue...ok not really but still.
He did one at the end...
Zombie Lenny Briscoe shall eat your brains!
I was expecting an adaptation from the show
There's a second issue. If Linkara ever decides to review it, then you might get your wish.
Maybe he'll make another Top 15 Missed opportunities list and include the lack there of on it.
In ALL fairness, there is an actual reason in history for only one soulder pad. But not for using guns. Some swordsmen, particularly ones who used one-handed swords and a shield, would often only wear one shoulder pad, on the side of there body they hold their shield with while the arm that holds the sword would not, so as to keep the arm as mobile as possible. You dont see that as much in modern swordplay movies, because it doesnt look as cool and if you use enough cuts and dutch angles, people wont notice that the guy holding the sword cant move for shit. But is IS a real thing.
I'm absolutely grateful for such opportunities to see these due to Blip hating me. Thank you Linkara.
Yeah, WHAT is Blip doing that so many people hate? It works just fine for me, so I have no idea what people are talking about when they mention Blip being problematic. :/
Bobsheaux For me, it has a tendency of stopping me 5 minutes into a 45 minute video, saying "You're done now" and refusing to reload. Fuck Blip.
Bobsheaux blip works fine for me in browser... It's just I watch nearly all my web video on tablets or TV now and it's not very good for that.
Needs more Jack McCoy and Lennie Briscoe.
Is it bad I WANT to see Predator take on Leperchaun lol
I would have paid good money for a comic based on the L&O TV show, with unrealistic artistry by Rob Liefeld. Detectives with enormous guns. DAs with boob windows. It would have been epic.
Rob Liefeld should do a comic for the _Law & Order_ TV series. JK. LOL.
Jack McCoy already haunts my dreams, don't make it worse...
Law & Order: Special Comics Unit
actually, as i was only listening to this video in the background, it took me 3 minutes to realize it is NOT about the law & order tv series
Comic: First exciting issue?
Linkara: How much you wanna bet that's a lie?
Which part, 'First,' 'exciting,' or 'issue?'
the only reason I came to this video was because I thought they did a comic verson of the tv show.
Zombie Lennie Briscoe and Dective Goren? I would SO read that!
4:48 HA! She's totally derping.
EVERYTHING'S IN MANHATTAN! Night Court, SVU, Three episodes of Doctor Who, 66% of which are Tennant era, Muppets, Jason. Weird, that's all I can think of right now.
How many people thought this was a comic about that cop show that never dies? I did.
I could only imagine one shoulder pad helping with a fencing style, where you constantly kept one side of yourself pointed at the foe. HOWEVER the weight saved only having one pad isn't worth the loss in armour-it's dumb.
Love the Halloween 6 ad on the back !
@0:49-1:42
OLD AT4W INTRO; MY PERSONAL FAVORITE!!
Maybe they actually made a bunch of issues before this one, but they were far more dull?
Law and Order were originally from the videogame Freedom Force, a parody of silver age comics.
Woah! That intro song. This must be an OLD episode.
The sad fact is, "Predator vs. Leprechaun" could actually happen in this day and age.
9:31 Why is there a Halloween 6 The Curse of Michael Myers poster on the back of the comic?
3:03- WHAT TIME IS IT!?
No no no, it'd have to be Zombie Lennie Briscoe and cyborg Dective Goren.
The comic is called Law and Order... Law is killed in the first issue.
There is no Vanessa, only ZUUL!
Hmmm Vulnerable teen female drug addict became hero after bad batch of drug almost killed her.
Male counterpart with anger kill issues trying to atone by stopping evil.
Yep clearly completely different than Dagger.
(Yeah I know could be coincidence, but still)
I'm gonna be honest I thought this was the "Chum Chum" Law and Order XD
So if someone shakes Max does that mean he's Shakespeer? The Hive? Is Resident Evil going to start?
Was it ever established that single-shoulder pads wasn't as stupid as Linkara thought? I think I remember hearing that at some point.
During the top 15 screw ups on AT4W, they do talk about the one shoulder pad, and how for some people who use swords and other close quarter weapons it can work since the shoulder they use most is armored, and leaving the less used arm unarmered reduces weight, but he still thinks if a character uses a gun like this lady its stupid, especially since shes practically wearing a swim suit.
LestatandBerial
Got it! Thank you very much!
fightingleaf
A single shoulder pad has limited use, but...
The front of the shoulders is most likely to be struck in melee fights with any kind of long blade, as one of the simplest attacks is a diagonal strike.
If we assume most people (and aliens / mutants?) are right handed, then wearing a single shoulder pad on the left side should provide good protection with very little loss of mobility(because you are face to face with a melee opponent).
That is my impression of what the writers intend. I hope they are at least that logical and the real answer isn't "LoL Because"
omnijack2011
but... they're fighting with guns... your admittedly logical explanation doesn't work here.
Ten years of betraying the LAWWW!!!
8:30 I, instead, have become a cleric of Selune.(D&D joke)
He made a reference to the Dick Wolf franchise afterall, guys.
I honestly expected something else. Special investigation unit's series.
didn't Liefeld also found Image?
But two days in the future is Next Saturday A.D.?
I think the point of one shoulder pad is to assist aim by leaning part of the large weapon on it
2:26 DAMN! All of that happens in two minutes!? Crap, I better get ready!
2:12 So..it's NOT the first issue...? 😝
Are you going to cover the second issue?
Why do I have the feeling Dick Wolf is gonna sue somebody?
Why is it that everyone else get individual teeth while Order's are just one smooth line?
I always assumed that you put the shoulder pad on your lead arms side so in a fight its out front..
DOINK DOINK.
I thought dick wolf made that. Then again it would have been funnier.
Only Law & Order I like (with an occasional exception of the TV show) is the Law & Order from GIJOE. The action figures and the ones from the animated movie
Mad Max: Road Warrior, in response to the single pauldron. That's my guess anyway..
The concept before the second girl is introduced isn’t bad. Too bad they screwed it up.
What's the deal with Dick Wolf anyway?
+GammaWALLE He's the creator of the TV show Law & Order.
Kimi FW no i know that like what's the deal with him?
GammaWALLE I don't know. That's all I know about him.
Kimi FW then why did you... nvm, forget it...
neato.
One shoulder pad? Linkara isn't very Orky.
I recognize the Bionicle Avi. You have good taste.
GammaWALLE There is nothing tasteful about Bionicle.
Lucas Bell btfo no one asked you
GammaWALLE Nobody asked you either.
Lucas Bell i wasn't answering a question, though. I was giving someone a compliment, at least until you so rudely barged in.
Chun chun
He should do some New Universe stuff. Man, some of those were awful
LAAAAAH!
XD
Linkara, did you know that the age of consent is 16? That means you can't make underage jokes since she can legally "do it".
In 'Merica its 18.
Freeman Gaming In Canada (Or at least in Ontario) it's 16.
+Freeman Gaming Not everywhere in America. In fact, most states it isn't
Depends on the state.
Order is paired with Law. That is not irony.
Hard to tell; some people think redundant means ironic.
