Like this pattern? Check out this simple baetis pattern as well: ruclips.net/video/jelLO24O5bg/видео.html
Really nice of you to be giving all of this as well. My favorite fly is probably a hares ear. Simple and effective all over. I am a brown trout chaser for sure. Thanks again for the opportunity Chuck. Congrats on the 1K. WELL DERSERVED!
Hare's ears are just like pheasant tails in my eyes, a staple. For some reason I always lean pheasant tail, but I'm certain they're equally as effective. Thanks for the support Mike! Let me know when you're headed back to central PA.
@@Brownsylvania Absolutely! We will link up at least once in 2021!
Love the videos! Definitely fav fly is a pliva, and love catching wild brown trout!
It's a great fly for sure!
Thanks for watching!
The polish quill gives a great look. You do a fantastic job with these videos. I’ve had the most success with frenchies. But I do like the larger isonychia nymphs too. I’ll definitely give this a try, I need to get some of those quills!
Thanks for the compliment! I actually don't use frenchies as much as I probably should. I know they are a killer fly, I just very rarely end up with one on my line.
Nice tie. I like your channel. My favorite fly is the March Brown Dry fly during the spring hatch but also like to Euro nymph with an assortment of flies. Keep up the great work.
Thank you and I'm glad you like the channel. Nice! I'm not much of a dry fly person myself, but I may try and change that this spring (but probably not).
Hey Chuck,
Congratulations on 1K. It well deserved for sure. I’ve been a subscriber here for a while and also follow on IG. This is my first time commenting. I really appreciate the content you are releasing
.
I’ve tied a few of your patterns. I've tied the simple baetis nymph, the pheasant tail, and the pliva. I have some quills on the way so I’ll try a couple others also. As a teacher and being fairly new to tying, I really appreciate your clear directions, pace and over all vibe of the videos. They are so easy to watch and follow.
I live just south of you (I imagine) in northern Baltimore county, 5 minutes from the Gunpowder so I mostly chase the browns below the dam. I’m definitely going to pick up a PA license this year to fish some new water. I would be able to get to a handful of great streams in about an hour or less.
I don’t really have a go-to fly but my best producer this summer (fish vs. time fishing) was definitely a rainbow warrior. Last week of August during our work from home meetings, I was able to pick up 4 browns out of the same, first hole closest to the lot, on my lunch break and get back home and online for my 1pm meeting. I was only on the water for about 20 minutes. I had just felt like making a few drifts over my break. I don’t know if the Gunpowder will ever run that good for me again.
Thanks for running a giveaway and for taking the time to make these videos. If I happen to win, you can contact me here or on IG: @fortheloveoftrout
Jason
Thanks for watching and showing support!
I actually live below Pittsburgh and don't make it over your way much. I used to live in Harrisburg, but I still fished central PA a lot and rarely went south.
I don't use Rainbow Warriors as often as I probably should. For some reason I tend to lean toward more natural colored flies. Just a personal preference though. I know Rainbow Warriors are super effective.
Nice tie Chuck. I think I will try that color dubbing on my thread frenchies. I fish for mainly wild brown and wild brook trout. Keep up the great videos.
Jeff Hertz
Thanks Jeff! Yeah, I'm a big fan of greens and browns for a lot of my nymphs.
By the way I'm a fellow Pennsylvanian also. Fish the Codorus a lot.
Oh yeah will give it a shot👍
This fly you tied look like s fun fly to fish. I like fishing in blue line creeks for small brookies and rainbow. I like sneaking up on them. But favorite fly im not sure im working on soft hackles cause i really like tying them. But i hope they work on small streams.
Awesome! I tend to be a brown trout and bigger water junkie myself, but there's something particularly special about those small mountain streams with wild brookies. I'm certain the soft hackle flies will work for brookies. Thanks for watching!
Love it. I will have to give it a shot!
I will definitely tie this one up!
Awesome! Tight lines.
Hey, man. I enjoy your content and it's been cool to see your videography improve over time. You're tying style is similar to mine so it's helpful to see how someone else throws some flies together. I always pick up a few pointers.
I most enjoy throwing hoppers to late summer trout. Have been getting more in to nymphing lately and have been enjoying the mono rig. You can reach out to me on here. Cheers!
Thanks a lot man, appreciate the support!
I don't throw many dry flies to begin with, but I might try and change that this spring (probably not though). I'm a sub surface junkie. lol
@@Brownsylvania it's a cicada year, so might be a good time to try something different!
Good looking fly Bro! Congrats on the 1000 Subs!! I'm Originally from Spain ( Living in Ohio) so one of my favorite is Perdigones, Basically any fly with Gallo de Leon!! LOL. Keep the good job, you editing has improve alot!!! Love your videos
Thank you for the support and kind words! I'm glad you enjoy the videos.
Bro what up from NY!
Hey, how's it going?
@@Brownsylvania nice little pattern. Just started tying. Like your videos. The only video I was a little hesitant on was your leader set up. You have way more fishing experience then me. But obviously you’ve watched Olson’s videos. Bc you buy fom his store. Not sure why you run so heavy? And heavy leader material. I started with Olson’s 20lb leader but. I’m down to 2x leader. Only for nymphing. It’s not accurate ulsess you have a place behind you to oval cast. I don’t most the time. Just wondering why you run so heavy and even with split shot? I get snagged enough with a couple of 2.8mm beads. I hope you keep going. This RUclips stuff statrts off slow. But once ppl build momentum some of these channels work out. The tying is good and simple. Keep it up
A lot of people are switching to thinner leader setups, which if they like it, then I say do it. I like having the better accuracy of the heavier 20lb leader and then also small winds aren't much of a problem.
As far as split shot goes, most of the time I don't need it, but that doesn't mean I won't put it on if I don't need to.
Thanks for the support and I plan on continuing to make videos.
Congrats on the 1000 subs. My favorite is the pheasant tail - it's amazing what a fish catcher it is. My fishing is seasonal, spring a little bigger water, then once it warms up I blue line for brookies and Erie this time of year. contact me here when I win(haha)
Thanks Bob. Pheasant tails are my all time favorite as well. It's just a fish catching machine like you said. Thanks for watching!
Would like buy some of the flys you use I don't tie flys .
Hi Rick, I appreciate the interest. Unfortunately I have stopped selling flies for the spring season because I won't have enough time to keep up with orders while I'm fishing all spring. I plan to start selling them again over the summer though.
Awesome fly will be tieing up this.. fly fish mostly bead heads for steelhead.. can message me on here
Awesome! Thanks for watching.
Hi Chuck, nice pattern can you please tell me the period that you use this flash quill nymph. thankyou for the answer.✌
I like to use this pattern in the winter/spring.
Where did you get you bead organizer @ 0:07? Looks handy. Thanks for a great channel. We fish some of the same streams, I'll say hi if I see you!
I got it from Hobby Lobby I believe. It is really handy. They have bigger and smaller ones as well. I think they are meant for glass beads, but they work well for us fly tiers. haha
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoy the channel.
Nice job! That hooks looks lice and beefy. I've not heard of that brand but am interested in your opinion of it. I like fishing flies like this and perdigons for panfish mostly, but also some small stream trout. Cheers
Thank you! Yeah, Orientsun hooks are top notch and affordable. You can find them on tacticalflyfisher.com
I've been using them for 3 years now and I won't go back. The 5240's are normal gauge wire and the 5241's are heavy wire which I prefer so that big fish do not bend the hook out.
Been following for sometime now. Great videos chuck . I like to fish eggs , buggy nymphs, streamers. Mainly fish for trout. Contact me on here for info if I would win. I also follow you on Instagram too.
Awesome! I like streamers a lot too. I like my stoneflies to look pretty buggy and for nymphs if I want them to look buggy I like adding soft hackle. Thanks for watching!
You're welcome David. I would delete this comment though, I don't need your address yet and I wouldn't put that in the RUclips comments. Also the comment picker I use for the giveaway will no pick reply comments so make sure your comment is not a reply.
My favorite fly is a Squirrel and Herl. Size 8 or 10, for Bass or Crappie, although my largest fish on one is a 30in 14lb Channel Cat. My contact info is my name no spaces at Gmail
That's awesome you caught a big catfish on a fly! haha I don't do much warm water fishing, but I might make some smallmouth videos next summer.
Great fly I will be sure to tie up some. My favorite fly is the one they are biting on, lol. I love to fish for trout. Contact me on here and I will get you my address if I would win anything.
I like your favorite fly answer! lol That's the truth. Will do. Thanks for watching Mike.
