  • I bought the Aston Stealth microphone a little while ago, and figured that I would try it out on drums! Although it's marketed in a similar vein to the Shure SM7B, the Stealth has four different voicings that you can select, as well as a built in preamp which can be enabled by supplying the microphone with phantom power. This means that there's a lot of customization to the microphone, and many options to try around the drum set!
In the video, I've highlighted the voicings that I thought sounded the best, but you can download the individual tracks below and check them out for yourself. In this video, the Aston Stealth has been left raw and unprocessed, while there's some light EQing on the other microphones.
Let me know what you think, and if you've tried out the Aston Stealth on other sources!

I've not listened through the whole video yet, but just wanted to say THANK YOU for including a Dropbox link to those audio files. I have an Aston Stealth, which I absolutely hate. I've not had time to experiment with it, and bought it due to the hype and rave reviews from multiple sources. Hopefully it will serve some purpose on drums, else it's just gathering dust! Thanks again for taking the time to make this video
