Just fixed the front OME shackles the PO installed.. He couldn't have done it more wrong...lol... Upside-down, backwards and inverted. The rear were installed correctly. YAY!! Thanks again, Chuck!!!... BTW... you sound just like my pastor..he's from TX... :)
Thank You for that great explanation. I Have owned and built many Jeeps and still do today. You Helped me understand why My Boomerangs are backwards!!! Glad I never Wrapped a Spring Up! I'll be turning them around.
You are welcome! Glad the video helped you understand. One of the guys who used to work at Motobilt uses my video to help people under stand how booms work. Thanks for leaving a great comment!
If you remember my comment from a month or so ago about the shackles on my 47 willys being homebuilt with 3/8 in plate, Welcome to the completely overbuilt shackle club haha... FYI if you have a drill and a similar chopsaw and the metal you could make a full set using the method you showed in your vid here to make everything uniform in length (of note be sure to measure carefully for each drill hole to and if you plan on rounding the corners to do the drill holes first then round off the ends)(My overbuilt 47 shackles have not been rounded at the ends)...also for the masses do NOT go crazy on the length of the shackle, keep them within an inch of the stock length (to long could give you the same problems as shown in the vid or worse)... Happy wheeling everyone
Yep I surely joined that overbuilt shackle club!! I opened that box and was like dang that some heavy pieces!! Yes, I do remember that!! I've got some plate laying behind the shop, its either 3/8" or 1/2" been a while since I've looked at it. I was placing an order for several kits and I threw those in the shopping cart as well. I'll check that plate I have, I may make a video "DIY Boom Shackles". Ive got a chop saw, drill press and vertical mill to drill out the holes. I've got a few of their other products as well. They are all "over built" .. But I like'em like that!! Good seein ya drop in again man!! Have a great day!
My YJ superpowers detected you needed help with Booms!! LOL You are welcome! Glad the video helped!! Thanks for taking the time to drop in a cool comment! Have a great day!!
Throw it and find out!! .. just pulled the tank out of my yj cause it was leaking while it was running .. love your channel my friend .. really helpful!
I get the same 6" shackles for $5 a peice at Rock tactical.boomerang for the rear and straight for the front.check them out, they have lots more to offer far as fabrication parts
If you are asking if I'm going to do one, I have no plans on it anytime soon. Only if I'm building rig that requires it. But, its been done many times. I have a video where I did a leaf spring change on my other YJ. ruclips.net/video/RB00_P2XrEY/видео.html
I see on RUclips many. People show o rear shackles that bolt will hit fuel tank on my 90 yj there is about 5 inch between frame and tank is different size tanks do I have a very small tank??
Shackles themselves dont effect ride quality. If they are over tightened, they can. If you have the track bars still installed that can really make it ride rough.
So I've heard to reverse your shackles from the front to the back on your front Springs for better ride on the highway and To eliminate the death Shape how do you feel about that
I've seen people do the shackle reversal for the front. Some say it helps .. some say it is no difference. I personally haven't done it .. yet .. so I really don't know for sure. As for death wobble ... I'll put it like this. I have owned MANY leaf spring rigs and I have never once experienced death wobble on a leaf spring style suspension. As for coil spring suspensions such as TJ, XJ, ZJ .. etc. Yes .. I have fixed many of them having death wobble. If a leaf spring rig is shaking in the front .. park it .. there are some serious issues that needs addressed ASAP.
How much do I need to jack up my stock YJ in order to get these on cuz I can’t seem to get it high enough for my suspension to drop so I can light the holes up
I installed them on the rear and was thinking of the front also. Would I have to change anything steering and alignment wise? Running a rough country 2.5" lift on 32s on a 92 yj 4.0.
I have watched this video a couple of times and several other of yours. They are all good. Thank you. Now I have a question. I have read that if you put boomerang shackles on your YJ then the steering wheel is no longer centered. Is this correct and if so why, and how do you correct it? Thanks again.
Boom shackles does not effect your steering wheel being centered or not. I' know of several people who run booms .. it doesn't mess with the steering wheel. Coming soon I will be doing a video demonstrating how to center the steering wheel if for whatever reason theirs is off. But .. its not because of boom shackles. Have a great day!
I personally would if I had the spring out. As to whether they come with the bushing or not. That depends on the kit. They did not come with the boom shackles in this video. Have a great day!
@@Poweraddicts I inherited my grandfather's '88 wrangler 4.2 last year. He never got to drive it but did finish the motor. I got it on the road and after about a month and having my spleen and kidneys fall out of my ass I took them off. Lol Just rebuilt the a999 3speed and now I'm going through the wiring. Your vids have helped a ton and thank you.

I been considering boomerang shackles but wasn't sure how to install them, thanks Chuck for an informative video
Glad the information helped you! Thanks for checking out the video! Have a great day!!
Hi, Does the orientation of the front boomerang shackle change with the installation of a shackle reversal system? Thanks for your great tutorial.
Thanks for the detailed explanation!
Glad it was helpful! You are welcome!
Just got my YJ, your videos have been super helpful. Dumb question, are front and rear shackles the same?
Yes they are. Thanks for checking out the video and I'm glad they are helpful.

So can you do a leaf spring change. From stock to a 3 inch lift
If you are asking if I'm going to do one, I have no plans on it anytime soon. Only if I'm building rig that requires it. But, its been done many times. I have a video where I did a leaf spring change on my other YJ. ruclips.net/video/RB00_P2XrEY/видео.html
Nice explanation bro
I see on RUclips many. People show o rear shackles that bolt will hit fuel tank on my 90 yj there is about 5 inch between frame and tank is different size tanks do I have a very small tank??
Do these shackles soften the ride at all? I've tried everything my jeep is almost unbearable especially off-road even aired down.
Shackles themselves dont effect ride quality. If they are over tightened, they can. If you have the track bars still installed that can really make it ride rough.

Yes, front is no problem. Stay 0 lift or 1" MAX and you shouldn't have to adjust anything. Bolt on and roll!!
I have watched this video a couple of times and several other of yours. They are all good. Thank you. Now I have a question. I ordered the 4-inch leaf springs by accident so I had no choice but to put them in
Do you have to change the rubber boots grommets in between the shackles and the chassis of the body do they come with kids or without kit
I personally would if I had the spring out. As to whether they come with the bushing or not. That depends on the kit. They did not come with the boom shackles in this video. Have a great day!
Thank you sir for your help
You are welcome!! Thanks for checking out the video!!
What's the price range on Boomerang shackles and what's a good brand to get
I'm not finding the Motobuilt boom shackles on their site. Are they only available in a kit?
Here ya go. www.motobilt.com/product/4_inch_boomerang_shackle_plate
Thanks for checking out the vid! Have a great day!
Is it necessary to replace my shackles after I installed the 4-inch leaf springs which isn't the standard for my YJ
You don't have too. Many people use the stock shackles with out any issues.
What is a 6.7 a 12in amp fuse for an 87 Jeep
YES!!
Have u ever teplaced door locks
Not yet. But I will eventually. Have a great day!!
Watching this to go double check my first jeep's shackles lol
Hope it helps!! Have a great day!!
👍🏼
Will it ride like crap with these installed
Nope, doesn't change the ride at all. If you get greasable shackle bolts it will ride better..
wish i had seen this yesterday!! dam
Check my channel before you do stuff. Never know what you might learn 👍
So obviously your running without tracking bars. I just took mine off my '88 wrangler and what a difference.
My daily driver has no sway bar or track bars.
