Loretta Lynn is a country girl, she is from Kentucky so, am I. She wrote all her songs from her heart and, her life 🙏 RIP. Mrs. Loretta 😢
I grew up in Kentucky too and very similar to the she did..I was 20 years before I lived in a home with indoor plumbing and raised in holler ( hollow)
We lost a treasure when Loretta passed away last year. She wrote and sang about her life and inspired so many women. Her biggest hit (and title of movie about her early tife) Coal Miner's Daughter, as well as her hits The Pill, Fist City, You're Looking at Country and Louisiana Woman Mississippi Man (Duet with Conway Twitty) are great songs to continue your journey with this Legend!

So sad to hear of Loretta Lynn's recent passing. She was a country legend & singer song writer who's music has spanned 6 decades. She was also friends with the great late Patsy Cline. Her younger sister Crystal Gayle also is a great singer. She grew up dirt poor & stayed humble & true to her roots. The autobiographical movie "Coal Miner's Daughter" is worth looking at.
I saw Loretta Lynn in concert with Conway Twitty, in Lexington Ky, in 1978. I do believe the entire population of Butcher Holler, Kentucky was in the audience. After the concert, she and Conway sat on the stage, at a table and signed autographs and took pictures for about 3 hours. Never once did she complain, or say she was tired. She was the definition of a southern, country LADY. A national treasure.
You need to hear Fist City. It is so funny. Loretta was one tough ol' gal. I just loved her.

Loretta Lynn’s story is amazing; she wrote an autobiography called “Coal Miner’s Daughter”, which was famously turned into a movie starring Sissy Spacek as Loretta Lynn; she did a fantastic job and they became good friends. The movie is where I first heard this song when I was about 14. She was dirt poor, married at 14 years old (same husband her whole life) and started having kids right away. Her husband Doo bought her a guitar; she taught herself how to play, and started writing songs, playing in honky tonks, and the rest is history. She is known as the First Lady of Country music. I highly recommend the movie ❤

Check out Fist city. She is more specific about what she's going to do. There's a movie about her called Coal miner's daughter after her song called the same thing. She had a amazing life. Married at the age of 13 or 14.

I enjoy your reactions to music and artists you have never heard before, it is fun. Listen to her song Fist City. Some of the older songs are short in time so you could do a double feature and react to two songs at once with these artists. You would love it and so would we.
Songs on variety seemed to be short in those days. Women were definitely second class citizens, but I love the steel in her spine. Many of the Appalachian women of her time were tough. I'm so glad you like this song. I grew up in KY in the heyday of singers like Loretta, back in a time when singers had experienced what they wrote because their lives were hard but they could still pick and sing.

Here's the thing. Lorretta wrote her own music from her life.. and Doolittle cheater on her many a time.. and she stuck by him till the day he died... Probably 60 yrs of marriage... she married him at 14 I think. But 6 kids later... they stayed together. She was fiesty... we truly lost a treasure last year.. And I can't remember the first time I heard this song.. I'm sure I was probably out in the shed with my Grandfather ... he always had country music on his transiter radio.... Song came out b4 I was born but I know it

Loretta married at 14, had her first child at 15 and was the mother of 4 by the time she was 20. She was married to "Doolittle" Lynn until the day he died. She was one tough, nice, funny and talented lady. The don't make them like her anymore.
