I pause this interview every couple of minutes because Russell says something that resonates with me so much, or something that totally confuses me, that I need a few minutes to process it. I love him - it's good that he makes people think and challenges social conventions. The fact that through his addictions and all his problems, his desire to be successful was unwavering, just shows how much he deserves the success he's achieved.
I love how sincere he is. Also this part " ...but then you realise they are themselves, perfectly and beautifully in tune with what they are, so if you get in tune with what you are, you'll have it...ect." is a wonderful quote that I hope to keep in mind. The fact that he is so himself is why he's so unique and amazing, imo.
This is why I love him. Like I love his stand up and all that. But after reading his book and now watching this interview, it really just makes it even clearer of how brilliant and amazing he is. He has overcome so many obstacles in life, but never let's it hold him back. He learns from it and moves forward. Amazing.
absolutely brilliant, lovely and beautiful soul. I love that he can be so off the wall, energetic and funny- and then he has this very philosophical, life pondering side. love love love ya Russell!
Russell's got something special. The way he sees things and thinks about things and the way he says things, so beautiful. I like this Russell better than the stand up.
This is the kind of interview that I find hard to follow, not because it is in any way dull, boring, or confusing, but because it is so thought provoking. Something he says makes me think about something in my own life, and before I realise, the interview is 2 minutes further on and I need to rewind and watch the bit I missed.
hes right where u get into that state where evrything is funny u can turn anything into a joke but i think u have to be truly happy and in good spirits to make that happen i love it when life is like that tho.
it's true when you get into a mind set as an audience and as a comedian where you laugh so much that anything you say after that would please everyone because everything is funny. you become relaxed and open
"Don't judge yourself until you've done a hundred gigs". That's true for anything. I'm so critical of everything I do, but sometimes I just need to give myself time.
Agreed. I used to hate him...now I love him. (I had never heard him talk before, so my hatred was quite unfounded. I just hated the people I know that liked him so I assumed he sucked.)
It is 2:23 am where I live, and Im sitting here listening to his voice and Im totally captivated. There is not a doubt in my mind telling me that he is not a brilliant man, because he most certainly is.
How absolutely true. It's a proper job, when you're doing it properly, and it does take "another lifetime" to get any money out of your entertainment, comedy/music, trade. Almost to the point when you've given up.
There is a kind of man who, when you find out his past and inner person, will disgust and disappoint you. Russell Brand is the kind man who, when you find out his past and inner person, you can't stop wanting more.
hes really smart, talks like a university kid well versed in BS. i mean what he says makes sense and the way he justifies it is very scholarly. im glad i watched this interview, it was def enough to make me want to read his "litte booky wookie"
What an odd perspective, PalminderKaur! What does that mean?! He IS what he is displaying. If you can display that kind of energy, on camera, answering questions that eloquently, you are that - that is what you are. Even if he were acting, which he clearly is not, then he is acting out an aspect of himself, which in turn means that he IS what he portrays. If that cynicism is all you can get out of this beautifully delivered eulogy of love and positive energy, I feel a little sorry for you.
@TomfooleryofMatts I'd rather that people either love me or hate me.. not be indifferent about me. I love Russ... knowing there are haters out there, each to his/her own hey? (just be mature enough to shut up and have some manners, dear haters)
still can't stand him but yes he has the mind of a genius, a real genius. people who now say they love him, but didn't before, thats because this interview has made him vulnerable.
LOL! Thank you for that PalminderKaur. It seems you have a unique perspective of the man. I don't think he portrays, or is trying to portray, being free of human frailty. The fact that he is an attention seeking 'shithead' (in his own words), a self-confessed sex addict and ex-junkie, with a very genuine desire to affirm the 'positive/spiritual' aspect of himself rather than the dark, wanky side of his personality is what makes him so endearing. We are none of us perfect.

Is it me or is this the most candid Russell has been in an interview?
Take off his hat
I love how sincere he is.

Dawn's whole series of these interviews are pure gold. Girls Who Do Comedy and Boys Who Do Comedy. Can't recommend them highly enough.
This is the first interview I see him serious and not goofy. I think it's cause of the interviewer... she asks great questions...

Advice from Eddie Izzard. Awesome.
His view that everything can be funny when you look at it from the right perspective is just amazing.

This is a great interview. This guy is so interesting.
1:56 stops himself from saying 'Cunt' and says 'Wanker' instead! His mind works so fast, he meticulous with each and every word he says.
this is a wonderful interview. he really lets you inside his mind.
"Don't judge yourself until you've done a hundred gigs". That's true for anything. I'm so critical of everything I do, but sometimes I just need to give myself time.
it's really nice to see this side of him
what a beautiful perspective... i feel that way everyday...
Agreed. I used to hate him...now I love him. (I had never heard him talk before, so my hatred was quite unfounded. I just hated the people I know that liked him so I assumed he sucked.)

That is the way people talk on television - He's a hammer, and the world is the nail.

Please re-upload this clip. It won't load or play.
anetchi: most positives I've ever seen given to a comment...and well deserved too.
His mind is like a facile bunny rabbit on Einstein juice.

his eyes are so beautiful. you'd never know under all that hair and eyeliner.
still can't stand him but yes he has the mind of a genius, a real genius. people who now say they love him, but didn't before, thats because this interview has made him vulnerable.
He's very wise at a young age.
smart guy!!
"no pie left!!!!"
He is fantastic, no doubt.
but has anyone else at some stage throughout this interview had to shack their had and try and keep up with his rambling?

He's definately on the way to Hicksian greatness!
Like George Carlin ?
That's a supermarket I would frequent everyday.
