I love him! I saw him play at the Roxy in LA recently and I didn't stop smiling and laughing the whole time.. he is hilariously entertaining! I love that the mandolin broke in this, that's so funny, just his sense of humor... I agree with the last commentator, do never change Russell!! You're the perfect the way you are!

Comedian isn't his latest title. He's been doing comedy for years.
His radio show is excellent, and will go down as one of the best ever. The conversations between him and Matt Morgan are nothing short of hysterical.
Admittedly he's a bit of a cock, but that's part of his appeal. He's fully aware of most of his own shortcomings, he's an extremely fucked up guy. His wit is absurd though. A lot of comics refer to him as one of the greatest improvisers of all time.
I really haven't seen any musicvideo before that was so amazingly funny like this !

One of the most intelligent improvisers of all time. The man's wit is actually absurd, he's a freak. If you think he has no talent you know nothing about comedy. You might not like his style, but that by no means makes him talentless.

yes, they got in a mandolin tutor to teach it to him for the advert, apparently there was a razor in the mandolin that would break the string when it was played really hard, but russell never did it right so they had to edit around him. Funny story as the mandolin tutors son was there when russell tried to do it, the kid did it first time.

This is what started me listening and watching brand in the first place, first add in ages that made me laugh so much!

Elsewhere on youtube is a video of a 'behind the scenes' of this advert and it clearly shows Russell playing before the final dub and it definately is not him playing it! Theres a professional mandolin player who is doing the actual playing. Russell is taught, however where to put his fingers so that it looks real. Great advert though!

It doesnt matter what you play, its how you play it and the heart you put in it that decides if you're a rockstar, whether your playing a Fender Stratocaster or a classical mandolin.( BTW, fender makes mandolins too.)
he does a few things...hes a great stand-up comedian, he has his own show called russell brands ponderland, i think he has his own talk show too and he has his own radio slot thing aswell...i think after forgetting sarah marshall though hell probably focus more towards acting...his autobiography, "my bookie wook" is being made into a movie and hes playing himself.

@LagBoy86 Everyone in england recognises the major regional accents as it is not just a way of speaking but a cultural identity. Russell Brand switches between a working class south London/Essex accent and what is called RP which is meant to be the "correct way" to speak English. Most people would just call it posh. I know this as I am a director and deal with accents all the time. What you are refering to as "broken up" is a speech patern not an accent. If you care.
On his radio show he was saying he did have to play it but they had to have a razor blade hidden in the fret part so he just had to press harder to snap the strings
