    "SUFFERING: the ties that bind" is one of the best horror franchises with a silent protagonist. This is before "dead space," so yeah, it was gnarly and was creepy AF. This games moral system was one of the best as well. And the 3 endings was a nice touch. Made for great replay value and even dialogue choices. It's crazy to think a game like this was pre next-gen console.

    If I remember correctly, if you play both the first and second game with good karma Blackmore says that when he sent the order to attack Torque's family it was to scare them to stay away from him but his goons misunderstood the order. it even has a flashback where Blackmore talks to the Head goon and scolds him for killing them. if nothing else it is a neat touch that there's some variation if you decide to stick with good, neutral, bad karma or mix them up.

    want to hear something mad weird? I ordered this game on ebay PC version about 3 months ago or more. The game never arrived (i live in germany) so I asked for my money back and got it. Later, I receive a letter from the police department from my town saying i must go on a specific date to the PD while I have a accusation against me that wasn't specified. My mind started stressing hard asf because I got a criminal record already and I wasn't sure what the accusation is about. Fast forward to the day I go to the PD they present me that I supposedly ordered a videogame thats illegal in germany and it got seized and that I face some problems now because of it only if I decide to not let them destroye the copy of The Suffering Ties That Bind. I started laughing at the situation since it wasnt nothing serious like the shit i used to face so I pretty much start talking with the cop that says to me the game wasnt even that violent or else to be illegal and that he watched some youtube videos to check what game was it since its a old one and it seemed alot chiller than battlefield for instance

    I only played the first game when I was a kid, however due to the devolvement of video games being catered for the mythical "modern audience" i went back and started replaying old video games.
    I played the sequel after 20 years of it's release it's a nice game and improves a lot upon the original, but as much it's improves it's a step back in terms of arsenal of how many weapons you can hold off which is a shame. And the game feels it's struggling to balance the action alongside the psychological horror as well.
    Overall it's a solid game definitely had way more fun playing it, then these new modern games.

    I miss this game. Yes, way more linear than the first one, and the story is all over the place, but action and atmosphere was good. Damn that shotgun dismemberment on those ugly creatures was good! Wish the first game has that. This series of games in dire need of a remaster.

      I agree, it was so hard to write the script/story in digestible way bc of how all all over the place it was. But it was easier to progress through the game without a walktrough so I had a lot of fun!

    • @EvanHelblingYT
      @EvanHelblingYT  11 месяцев назад

      From what this game says, the Foundation created them but they follow me around pretty much. For the first game it’s different I think

    • @dredgengam4610
      @dredgengam4610 10 месяцев назад

      @@EvanHelblingYTI never read anything that suggests that the foundation created these monsters. After reading all the journals and note slips, I never got that implication. Jordan only said that her Life's work revolves around them.
      We see that they study them and capture them, but even the scientists within the foundation seem baffled by the creatures' makeup.
      It's only been confirmed that the creatures spawn to an indefinite degree when a cataclysm occurs. That Cataclysm being Torque's arrival/presence, considering that these things existed 5 years ago, causing mayhem over at Eastern Prison during the riot, before Torque was sent to Carnate Island.

    I can imagine how fans of the first Suffering game felt when they played this sequel, both with the shift towards more action and the effective retcon to Torque's backstory. It seems to be the fate of many action-horror games, FEAR in particular being a big example I feel.
    Also how does a sequel to The Suffering have more in common with the plot of Fight Club than the actual game based off of Fight Club lol
