I think Salvo would have had a blast on the dancefloor in the 80's 😅
😂 For sure! Although it’s just as 🔥 today - I came to New Order later, after hearing Crystal and worked my way backwards. What a fantastic rabbit hole! 👌
I know I did! 😂 I'm sure he would have too!
@@npkrn6764 In the 1990's a DJ called Chip Duckett did parties called 1984 at the now closed Crowbar in the East Village every Friday and then moved to The Pyramid Club. Fantastic music!
Absolutely! There are some fun old recordings around if you search 80s club videos. 😊 It's so wild to see again!
@@JennyB28928 Ooh yes Crystal! Esp the longer version 🥰
My favorite dance song of the 80s and 90s and NOW!!!❤❤❤
Another super creative banger by New Order is “The perfect kiss”
New Order was masters at layering so much texture into their music.
True Faith and Age of Consent are two more New Order songs you need to add to the list.
YESSSS! Love both but gotta add Ceremony too. Age of Consent and Ceremony are two of my favorite songs of all time. Hope Salvo does them all! I love how much he appreciates 80s synth/new wave ❤
True Faith! I have so much love for that song.
Simply one of the best songs ever.
My favourite New Order song!
Great group. So many memories!
Nice choice. Thanks!
Edit: Was in my 20's when this came out. The 70/80's were the best times for me, MUCH more than today!
exactly, me too! I was 16 in 1986
I'm so surprised that this song didn't make the Top 40, let alone barely made the Top 100. It was all over the radio on KROQ, LA's New Wave radio station. It was all over the clubs for sure!
Same with 91X in San Diego. Seems like there was at least one summer where the song was everywhere, and it never completely disappeared after that.
Too edgy
Great reaction, yes embrace the synth-pop nerd in you! Ah, the summer of '87, played this to bits. Bizarre Love Triangle - epic summer song, Blue Monday - epic dancefloor song, True Faith - epic LIFE song. You must do True Faith next!
True Faith !
If you like Neworder, Erasure etc you need to check out Pet Shop Boys
@@jellyrollnorton Bernard from Neworder and Neil from PSB
You've got to hear the extended mix of this song and extended mixes of every New Order song. it's eargasmic!!! New Order were to the New Wave/Alternative dance clubs that the Bee Gees were to the disco era. THEY RULED THE DANCEFLOOR IN THE CLUBS!!! If you like this you'll love: True Faith, Thieves Like Us, 1963, Touched By the Hand of God, Subculture, Perfect Kiss, Shellshock, State of the Nation, Confusion. The extended mixes are so much more fun and were the versions played in the clubs. Umm... and the 80's were so much fun with groups like New Order, Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Thomas Dolby, Psychedelic Furs, ABC, The Associates, Book of Love, Romeo Void, Cabaret Voltaire, Level 42, Sisters of Mercy... I can go on and on. But definitely extended mix of Bizarre Love Triangle!
I was exposed to so much great alternative 80's music thanks to KROQ 106.7 in Los Angeles. They dominated this genre so well. I was fortunate enough to see New Order (Supernature tour) and Depeche Mode as well as some other greats.
Yes! Also in San Diego 91x was great too. So lucky to be able to listen to both stations in the 80’s.
This song was so popular. If you went out to a bar or club in the late ‘80s, it definitely was playing and people were dancing.
Late 80s, early 90s new wave synth clubbing to New Order, Depeche Mode!! Salvo, you would of loved that dance feel to synth pop! Missing those days 😢
Impossible to listen to this one & not dance. Every time it came on the dance floor was packed! Of course it was the extended version. 😊
Now we're talking🖤🖤🖤 New Wave is perfection!
This song has had a long career in US clubs/bars/sporting events . . . what started as a banger in alternative clubs, managed to seep out into a bit of the mainstream. You could hear this on most every bar jukebox in america in that last half of the 80's.
You need to listen to Yaz. Their song, "Situation," is a classic synth/dance track. Yaz is composed of Vince Clark (who you know from Erasure) and Alison Moyet. Alison's voice is incredible. They had several other great songs but "Situation" seems like something you would enjoy.
And Depeche Mode, Old Vince has the unique place of having 3 hits with 3 different bands.
the intro and opening synths give me chills every time! One of my faves from this band and there are so many to choose from! This packed the dancefloors in the mid to late '80s! Reached #4 on Billboard's Club Play chart in late 1986.
You would be a Synthpop genre fan in the 80's! New Order, Erasure, Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Orchestral Manouvers in the Dark, were all synthpop pioneers that created synthpop perfection! The next New Order song needs to be my favorite, True Faith! Just an amazing song with a great video again. Just one fire song after another!
Yazoo definitely!!
The music of my teenage years! Love the layering of melodies, the bass part…😘
Being an 80s teen was awesome if you could afford a walkman!
I loved being a teenager in the 80s. So fun!
Definitely in my Top 5 New Order songs that I love. Thanks for the reaction!!! Nothing bad about being a synth pop nerd!! ☺
I couldn't get MTV for a few years in the mid-late 80s, so I never got to know these guys back then. I've since come to really enjoy their hits.
Pet Shop Boys - Domino Dancing - You will LOVE LOVE ❤️❤️❤️ Promice!
True Faith or Ceremony are worth a listen.
Ceremony, the perfect, laying out on the beach listen.
One of my all time fave dance songs. Brings back so many memories of dancing the night away with friends. Great reaction and fabulous song.
I was obsessed with this song and had so many club versions of it! One of my favorite club songs!
Phenomenal track. Loved it on release. Love it now. I treasure owning the 12" vinyl single of it, bought when it was first released.....!!!
Was introduced to New Order (in high school!) when I bought the Pretty In Pink soundtrack (on cassette!) and heard Shell Shock. But Bizarre Love Triangle became my favorite and I remember it being a mix tape staple in college. Haven’t heard it in years, but still remembered the lyrics!
New Order were sooo influential to electronic music - try "True Faith" from them next, you won't be disappointed! A great banger...
New Order was huge on WLIR in NY during the 80’s. One of my favorite bands along with Depeche Mode and The Smiths.
SalvoG, I liked this video because it's awesome!
Oh, I LOVE that song in all its incarnations. But of course the extended mix extends the pleasure! And his melancholic voice gets me everytime!
I absolutely looove how you feel the music 😍
Imagine being a 12 years old listening to this in 1985
I was 15 😁😁😁
Okay, so you kinda understand what happened with this song. In 1986 when it was released it didn't make much noise, but then in '87 the compilation double album called Substance was released featuring 12" versions of most of the songs. That 12" version went on to become a HUGE club hit all around the world, mainly in every Spanish speaking country on earth. It became a "cult classic"! Everyone and their mother knew this song even if it never really was a top 40 commercial hit! It is probably on everybody's list of top 10 dance songs of the 80s, and probably even in history. It became such an underground hit that eventually it just wasn't underground anymore. The song was so impactful, that that's why it's in Forbes top 500 songs of all time. It is THAT big! And trust me, I was there to see it all unfold. I had a New Wave Band back in the day, and we played this song, and it was just a "get the crowd in a frenzy" kinda song! Play this at any place where the average age is 50, and just wait to see the reaction! 😊😅
Erasure and New Order were a big part of my college years in the late 80s. Such a good time!
One of my favourite 80’s songs still even now it doesn’t date. ❤
I don't care where i am or who i am with, if this songs starts a playin'. rest assured I'll start a dancin"!!!!!!!!!!! Even though i have been i accidents i have not fully recovered from, and sometimes i can barely walk, i will dance to this no matter what!!!!!!!!!!!! Loooooooooove your reactions!!!!! Always so heart felt!!!!!!
Great reaction Salvo!! I am forever jealous of my sisters as they were in their late teens during the 80's, and were able to experience this music at the clubs! I was born 13 years after them - so while I heard this stuff (and LOVED it!), thanks to their influence (they bought the records, cassettes, so I got to reap the rewards at home), I had to wait until my late teens and seek out a nightclub that had a retro night - fortunately we had one in town! Every Friday night, this is where myself, my girlfriend (now wife) and friends were!
Such a fun time! Cheers!
❤This is definitely my favorite New Order song. It is still on my playlist.
this was a huge Club hit mixed with anything , dance floor always packed when this played
A track from my teens!Blasted this on repeat xx
This one and True Faith are my favorites. One of my favorite bands. The Cure, Depeche Mode, and New Order were the triumverate of cool. I think we're musical twins... only I had the privileged to hear all this the first time. :P You will instantly fall in love with Mode and The Cure.
In the 90s, a band called Frente covered this song. It's amazing, too.
This was a soundtrack song on many films and television shows there great live with hooks there’s a New York dj from a colllage radio nyu starring in 1979 when Gang of Four and flock of seagulls want a re mix broth and other music and became a and r guys for different record companies welabee
Ahhhh…you’ve been listening to some of the best from the 80s. Love it
Woooww! Wonderful memory of my adolescence, I enjoyed it a lot 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🎉🎉
I’m literally dancing around my living room right now.❤️
One of my favorites. You can get into this song so easy!
Ah great reaction, New Order/Joy Division are my favourite band, they were massively influential on other bands, and were massively underrated in terms of record sales so many great songs though.
I'll never forget walking into my first gay bar at 16 in 1989 and this was playing. Everything was pink neon and New Order. I remember Black Box Ride On Time played too. New Order, Erasure, and Depeche Mode were what all the gay kids were listening too.
Check out The Information Society and their song Pure Energy. You will love it
LOVE this song - New order was such a huge part of my high school years. I'm a little in love with Peter Hook's bass style. So happy you enjoyed this - if you're really enjoying this synth pop, you may need to check some Thomas Dolby. "She Blinded Me with Science" is probably his biggest hit. It's weird and quirky and delightful. 😆
The version from Substance has always been my favorite. It’s got some great effects and panning. Not one second of the longer version is wasted.
This was my jam as a kid. Right next to it was "The Different Story" by Peter Schilling and "Send Me an Angel" by Real Life. Then in high school I leveled up to "Security" by Beat Club. DUDE, listen. With good output. You need the bass.
I love how much you like this! such fun music and they do have such a good sound!
Salvo, I'm sure you'd like 'Space Age Love Song' by Flock of Seagulls - another synth pop classic
There is a gazillion versions of this and other NO songs. Every re-issue was a new edit.... All fantastic.
New Order, Pet Shop Boys, Human League, Erasure absolute domination. And if you want to dig deeper, try Electronic, which is a collab between Pet Shop Boys and New Order guys. Pure Synth Genius!
All of the New Order side projects are worth a listen, Monaco, the Other Two, Revenge. I wish they would play some those songs at a concert.
I also love 1963 and Love Vigilantes, interesting twist to that song.
This era was when dance clubs were at there best!
Fantastic! Some New Order
You're gonna love the remix/longer version!
My college music…great memories of dancing with friends at the clubs. Check out their tracks Perfect Kiss and Fine Time
Instant mood-shifter!! 😊
Always reminds me of Club X in Detroit in the 90s
I love new order 😍 so much
You should check out “Eligia” it’s a beautiful tribute to Ian Curtis/ when he died Joy Division became New Order.
Okay now you need to check out their ultra cool song "Get the Message" (under the band named Electronic featuring Bernard Sumner)
You should have listened to the extended version.
I'm of an age where this was my regular music then . We were lucky!
❤
Subculture is one of the best New Order tracks. I really! recommend that one
If you like euro-pop and electronic dance music you need to listen to Donna Summer's "I Feel Love.. " This song totally changed music in 1977!! Then listen to any of Donna's 13 topn ten hits from the 70's and 80's where she was aptly titled The Queen Of Disco!
You should definitely check out the cover version by a band called Frente!, which totally transformed the song. It was a minor hit in the US, peaking just outside top 40.
You should check out the original album version. I feel it has aged a bit better than the shep remixes. Tho I love them both.
Nice - more synth pop please!
New Order was innovative back then & still is now. Touched by the Hand of God is also another one...
Touched by the Hand of God
check "Disappointed" by Electronic. it is a supergroup with members from New Order, The Smiths and Pet Shop Boys.
Probably my most favorite club song would be “Hippy Chick” by SoHo. ❤
Dude, you belong in the 80s. Great reaction!
YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO WEST END GIRLS - by Pet Shop Boys. And all their other hits. Dude. You’d love it.
LETSGO
This makes me want to see you react to Life in a Northern Town by Dream Academy.
This reminds me of prom night (1989)
1980s clubbing. Dallas. X. Some of the best nights of my life.
You have to try "True Faith."
Yes, you're saying Erasure correctly.
Have you tried Depeche Mode yet? My college roommate listened to Violator on repeat. I learned to love it.
Gonna throw another 80s synth-pop group your way... Berlin. 'The Metro', 'No More Words', 'Masquerade', 'Dancing In Berlin'.
*_Every time I think of you_*
*_I feel shot right through with a bolt of blue_*
*_It's no problem of mine, but it's a problem I find_*
*_Livin' a life that I can't leave behind_*
*_There's no sense in telling me_*
*_The wisdom of the fool won't set you free_*
*_But that's the way that it goes and it's what nobody knows_*
*_Well, every day my confusion grows_*
Please, please, please react to the frente! acoustic cover of this song.
I would do the album versions, the singles made for radio cut a lot of the build-ups and giving the grooves longer playing time is always better.
Try reacting to new order perfect kiss . Specifically the video version directed by johnathon demme
Want to make a 80s Synth Dance Rock Night here in Bangkok and invite you to join. Best night possible. When it was actually happening, it was so special.
Salvo! There is only one version which captures the complete experience of this synth classic. Even Bernard Sumner has stated the Shep Pettibone mix is the fully realized version of the song and it’s how New Order perform the song on tour during their live shows. You owe yourself the experience of hearing all the bells and whistles, the swirling synths, the propulsive driving energy, the dramatic transitions from section to section, the vocal treatments that contribute to further elevating the song into a synth pop dance record masterpiece. ruclips.net/video/KJkSGvhnx1Q/видео.htmlsi=25m_NpC45jy0V4aH
Need to react to some Depeche Mode Salvo, you’ll enjoy
the video was in my opinion one of the reasons it didn't chart higher... people wanted to see videos at the time... extended is a wall of sound that doesn't quit...
I highly recommend reacting to a song from the first album of supergroup Electronic, which was Bernard Sumner fro New Order, Johnny Marr from The Smiths, and Neil Tennant from the Pet Shop Boys. Impossibly, the album manages to be better than the sum of its amazing parts.
AHA - take on me pls. From Super Mario Movie OST
