- Katy Perry is taking a lot of heat for being a bit mean on this season of "American Idol.” Former "American Idol" contestant Sara Beth Liebe accused Perry of mommy-shaming her. During Liebe's audition, she proudly told the judges she was 25 and a mother of three. Perry replied with "you've been laying on the table too much." Liebe later abruptly quit the show to be with her kids. It's unclear whether Perry will return next season.
This hits home. I literally had my 3rd child at 25; I had twins 2 years prior; the comments I got was beyond rude. My husband and I took care of our kids 1000% and now they're almost adults and being responsible and caring individuals.
If a family is happy and healthy, why shame them for having multiple kids in their twenties?!

That literally means nothing. The only difference between the young mom and Katy is birth control. I had my first at 18 and almost seven years later I haven’t had another child. As long as you’re on birth control, you’re not likely to get pregnant whereas being sexually active WITHOUT protection, well that means babies.

@@Yomomma1467 ive worked as an audio engineer for her prism tour and she was never rude. She had the kind of funny/sarcastic/dry humor personality type interactions with basically everyone. It never seemed malicious. Idk why some people lie like the person above you lmao

If you search for the whole vid of the audition, Katy was being mean to her with her snide remarks..aside from the clip shown here, there is more. It was very unnecessary and the girl was very sweet so it was off. You would wonder what did the girl do to her to react that bitchy.

To be honest, that outfit overly wasn't that bad, at least it wasn’t sexualised. People made it sound like she was showing most of her breasts when in reality, it was decent enough. Could have been more modest but it was reasonably appropriate for kids at the minimum.

I started to watch this season during auditions and was completely appalled when there was a contestant a young man who sincerely was performing and even if he may not have been the best the way they instantly starting being so disrespectful like singing over him and dancing and making a joke of it. It broke the kids heart and seriously really bothered me and then I was done watching…wtf

What Katy Perry said was accurate...she should know
If you watched this season, Sara Beth was real sweet but very unsure and doubtful in her own ability. Katy didn’t allow her to just walk away and brought her back to tell her life is scary and easy choice is to leave but you can love yourself and family as well. Sara then decided she couldn’t possibly win the show, so why even try. That’s a personal choice that Katy had nothing to do with.
I remember this. I remember how clear it was Katy Perry was bitter and jealous of the young beautiful mom of 3.
Pretty ironic she said she lays down too much when Katy only got to where she is by laying down for god knows how many men in the music industry.

I'm 27 with out kids even though I've been trying. People constantly ask my husband and I why we DON'T have kids. I don't not understand this at all. I don't want to be too old to play with my kids.
I don't think she mom-shamed her but she was unnecessarily mean during her audition. I think she was trying to portray "tough love" but it came across as degrading.

Using birth control
Not using birth control

While some people may not find it offensive, some people could interoperate the joke as "Mom shaming", especially when this joke was directed at the mother who's 25 years old and has three kids already, in other words, a very young Mom. Katy shouldn't be telling her that she laid on the table too much, she should have encouraged her or praised her for what she's doing, its not easy giving up taking care of your family to follow your dreams.
