I started watching Jason England's tutorial on the bottom deal 9 months ago. I saw this buckling technique and seeing how much he had emphasised the importance of perfecting this technique before moving on to the newer and 'better' technique without the risk of a knuckle flash, I began to practice without even watching the rest of the tutorial video. However, I never managed to get how it is done. When I buckled the bottom card and pushed it out, the deck would seem to move out of my grip. Since I couldn't even hold the deck in a proper mechanics grip, my thumb was unable to even push over the top card, and needless to say I never managed to get it. I stopped practicing because it was so annoying to be unable to do it... that is until now. Watching this video I realised I was buckling waaaay to hard and waaaay to much. I'm beginning to get a feel of how this should be done. It should be done with the most flair, with the least force, and with the fastest speed, all in the motion of pushing the top card. I must thank you once again, TheRussianGenius, for yet again giving me another reason to touch my playing cards :) You certainly are very dexterous with cards and are probably one of the most dexterous when compared to people fo your age. I guess it is time for me to hold off learning the other sleights that you have uploaded and instead focus on this one, the one move that defines the artifice at the gambling table. P.S Hope you're doing well in school! it must be very demanding for you to upload videos even though you study at boarding school!
Again, I like. I have learned two other ways to bottom deal. There are many methods of doing this. When learning this deal. Find which method works best. Which deal feels comfortable . Very good tutorial. Thanks, TRG.
Thank u i got it in like 10min :) only one tip for all the others, when u dealing the bottom card push the top card a bit forward like u would dealing the top card👍🏼
Hi, your explanation is perfect, thank you very much. But I'd want to ask you, how much time have you spent to learn this? Sorry for my English, I am Italian 😊
TheRussianGenius ok, but I can't understand something, because when I buckle the bottom card, the inner left corner ends under the deck and I can't push off the bottom card with the middle finger, do you know why this thing happen? Keep income that I'm right handed, so I keep the deck with the left hand
I'm digging the new T-shirts! hey, you should add Kardsharp to your recommendations. That guy is a total bad ass and nobody knows him. here is his bottom deal. ruclips.net/video/MzmFiduVxec/видео.html
Jesus, why did one of the best mechanics on YT have ta be a fuggin SOUTHPAW. Rrrrrgggghhhhh! At least my horrid luck is consistent. I had to join a different Patreon card academy because of it. But, Oi, Vladi! At least you were my first choice, right? (No. Left.)
Are you naturally right or left handed? I am a natural right hander, so I normally deal by holding the cards in my left hand. Does it makes sense to practice the bottom deal the same way? Or does it help to hold it in my dominant (i.e. right hand) as there is more work to be done by the holding hand than the dealing hand? Thanks in advance for any advice!
.. just started to get into cardistry .. your channel has soo much information it will take me years to do what you have posted ... Thank you so much for sharing .. sub'd and liked ... will check out your facebook too down the road ...
+TheRussianGenius I was wondering .. currently you have separated your channel by beginner-int-adv .. and others.. is it possible to also seperate with in these sections, type of trick .. like prediction-color change - story based- self working-set up-finding card-fire .. srry i am still a noob .. i guess a faster search way for a particular type of trick ... also any advice on how to make a routine .. when some tricks need set-up ... how the heck do u do it ??? without fumbling around making people wait ... again thanks in advance .. I am new to this ..
Nihal Nair I learned it by holding the left hand (the one that takes the card) over the deck (and gripping the hole deck) and from there I would do the buckle. In that way, the cards don't slip away and stay in your hand. When you feel ready, U can release with your left hand. I just saw that your post is from 2 years ago, so I don't think it will help you now. (maybe other people who have that problem can)
7 S you may or may not see this, but how did you know you were comfortable with the move when you did it as you held the deck. I feel like I can do it fluently but then once I do it with one hand I fail miserably and I push out the whole deck.
I liked the method of this bottom deal ,but it is extremely angel sensitive. This is a good bottom deal for beginners and it will do if performing for a spectator/spectators where you have control of the angles, nevertheless this is not a deal to do at a card table. The best bottom deal for card tables is Daniel Maddeson's
+Elite magic I never liked Daniel Madison's bottom deal. This is the cleanest way of doing the bottom deal. This is not for beginners, beginners have easier ways of doing the bottom deal. This is not angle sensitive if you buckle slowly with your finger without doing big movements. Here's a video of my doing the bottom deal from the worst possible angle: instagram.com/p/9B6zG1QwgY/?taken-by=therussiangenius
+Elite magic I beg to differ. 2 years ago when I was 15 I came up with my own method for bottom dealing that was based off this. I use to hang around with a rough bunch of kids and I ended up using my skills as a card cheat at the card table. I only ever did it in 2 games after almost being caught. during this time I have had enough experience to say that this has to be one of the best methods for the bottom deal. I'm currently in the process of relearning the bottom deal because I found too many problems with the method I came up with. this method is based off the erdnase method which is seen as the 'original' to a certain extent. this is the most surefire and the safest method of bottom dealing out there. the only thing I would change would be to use the joints of the fingers for the push out instead of the tips. it reduces the chance of any flash. definitely would work at the table 100% guaranteed.
+Elite magic Madison's method is definitely not the method to use when it comes to the table. it works for him but its not very good for other!people because he designed it for his needs.
After you buckle the card i don't understand how you push the card forward? Like when i try it the cards tend to stick together and i basically just push the whole deck forward.. tips?
I haven't just picked up a deck and practised this just now? I've been trying to learn the bottom deal for a while, its just that no one goes into detail about taking the card and pushing it forward..
Le Joshy Like Marin says its just practice. I had the same problem as you for 2-5 weeks I remember. Just practice, try holding the deck lighter, tighter, try buckling the card slower, try starting out with half of the deck. Make sure your finger is not dry, it will feel like it's impossible if so. Why no one is going into detail in buckling the card is because it's a move that doesn't have much detail to talk about, its just pulling your middle finger downwards to buckle it. A lot of magicians they use that buckle on the bottom deck to get a pinky break below the bottom card(s) It was easier for me to learn it cause I used it as a move to get a break below the bottom card when I started doing magic.
Please help QAQ When i try to buckle the bottom card there is an incredible high chance that the second bottom would come with it or even replaces itself being one pushed out, how do I avoid that?
look up ed marlo, "the cigar bottom deal" the way you're doing it your dealing hand moves weird, and a gambler would see you kicking the bottom card off the deck...
I find it interesting how people would call me left handed when most of my card stuff is done with the right hand, but I understand what you mean. I feel like there's a misunderstanding in magic when it comes to which hand is which, cause I'm right handed in everything I do besides magic.
There's websites which will mirror flip YT videos so it looks the correct way around for you, I don't want to leave a link in case the spam filter picks it up but just google "mirror flip youtube video"
+sm Mr. setup = 4 aces on top, the 4th ace down is face up, double lift the top two and slide them apart, have a pinky break between 3rd and 4th and do the chinese deal(not exactly what it is i forget the name) to lift the 3rd card over, revealing the fourth two. If you set it up yourself you'll soon figure it out (ace, ace, ace, faceup ace)
Good tutorial but I think You should Mention that it takes years to get Good at bottom Deals :) and Talking About Rhythm ;) p.s. I learned bottom dealing from jason England too :) an sorry for my English :D
The intro where I talk about the move with the performance is the first 1 min and 17 seconds, not long at all, and there are two different performances. I'm actually done teaching the move at around the 5-6 minute mark, but still I talk a bid more to give few tips and go a little bid more in dept. Yes, I could and I try to make videos under 5 minutes, my last few magic tutorials have been under 5 minutes as well, but if I do it I will then also do a Part 2 video in the future where I give tips on the moves cause 5 minutes it not always enough. 5 minutes it not enough on the bottom deal, it can be enough on the other moves as Marlo Tilt, One Handed Cut, Double Lift, but not Bottom Deal! :)
Yeah, I'm not saying like you talk too much or anything, just giving suggestion that I think is better for us to learn because we as the audiences can always go back and replay some details so you don't have to repeat the explanation, at least that's what I do. Thanks for replying tho.
Ok no offense but at the beginning when you lifted all four aces off the top of the deck I was like legit shocked when you started to pretend it was one card. I honestly thought you wanted us to see you pick up the four aces.
My fucking fingers are too long for that... I can't do that grip :( Either the deck is hovering like 2 inch in the air away from my hand or if my deck is laying in my hand, my fingers touch the deck at the second to third joint :(
Sorry to rain on anyone's parade here, but this is NOT the method taught by Jason England. So don't think you're getting that for free. I dunno where this method comes from, but it's full of problems. Go buy Jason England's video, its not expensive, and it teaches it properly.

:)
First 30 seconds and I'm already discouraged. 😂 Those movements were very impressive!
That was pretty good with bordered cards!
Rounders brought me here. Don't get caught base dealing
More than 2 months waiting for this tutorial...and it's really great!! Thank you!!
Lovbe to watch yo ur tutorials ,every time learn something neq.For beginner like me that is gold ..Tnx man wish to you all best .
Thank u i got it in like 10min :) only one tip for all the others, when u dealing the bottom card push the top card a bit forward like u would dealing the top card👍🏼
To really show the effect of bottom dealing, you could demonstrate what it looks like at speed with all the cards facing up.
this looks so hard to finesse in a live game.
Don't use it in an actual game you WILL end up in the pool
your so smooth with your card handling!
Guys u r just amazing! thanks for waking up my talent of cardistry again! 😊
U guys are doing flawless card tricks
but this isnt cardistry....
Just got recommended from youtube after 5 years exactly when I needed it
Same here
Hi, your explanation is perfect, thank you very much.
But I'd want to ask you, how much time have you spent to learn this?
