1800kv is what I recommend for 4S and 6S. Especially for beginners because it's soooooo easy to fly on 4S with 1800kv. Xing just came out with their budget motor that looks fantastic. Get the 2306 option in the 1700-1800kv range. It's the best deal out there in motors.

Hey @KababFPV! I used these motors (Xing 2208 1800kv) on my latest 6S build thanks to your recommendation but now see in more recent videos you mention a bug with 220X motors in Betaflight... can you clarify what you mean by this? I can say I've had issues with hot motors but I'm not sure if it's related or not. I tried Googling this bug but couldn't find anything.
Dude bird lady came in hot! Apparently prop noise is bad for the birds I will have to keep that in mind not. Thanks for being like the only one to show solid flight footage of these motors. Thank you 🤟
Hi, like your videos, keep it coming. I"m working on a new 5" freestyle build. You have tested the 2207 1800kv motors on 6s, but how do they perform on 4s. With what does these compare in a 4s motor? I would like have the choice 4s or 6s. Or should i go for the 2208 grtz from belgium
I spent all day trying to decide between the 2207 and 2208 1800kv Xing motors. Ended up ordering the 2208's thanks to the wife who said "just get em". haha I'm pairing them with the hyperlow freestyle vert v2. I'm coming from flying 2206 2300kv motors on the Emax Hawk 5 and 2306 2150 kv motors on a Smooth Operator. Completely different setups and motors, I know. I'm so anxious to see what kind of flight feel I will have with these on a stretched X and Vertical arms. Maybe this will be the setup I really really like.
You inspire me Bob.. i wish i could get one of your freestyle frames to put these motors on, they seem to be out of stock everywhere. I refuse to get one of the knock offs that are all over the fleabay sites. I will keep checking the reputable vendors for stock. Any chance of a flosstyle style arm for the reverb frame? Thnx
Please stop thinking this. This concept of low kv giving more power to low end is 100% false. In fact going higher kv will 'stimulate' the low end of the throttle range MUCH more. I'm going to write an article on this because it's just gotten ridiculous.
have a look at the Kararea TOA motors, 2306 and 2207, way nicer looking imo, also the 'original' design (although there isn't really much comparison, actual specs vary)
I do not recommend anything less than 2207 for 5". In fact I only recommend 2208 or 2306 for 5" acro. 2207 is suitable for racing but doesn't give you the fine control that a 2208 or 2306 does for acro
I wouldn't use a 1000 to race. 1100 or 1250 is going to fair better usually in a full 2min race. 1700 will last but you still will have trouble holding max max throttle for almost 2min in a race setting. Races are just getting insainely fast.
I just got a set of xing 2208 2450kv motors. Could you tell me exactly what issues you’re having in blheli / bf? I am a little worried about putting together my new build with these motors now.
When you punch it and cut throttle quickly while pitching forward a little at the same time you get a slight wobble. Just slightly. It's really minor but it bothers me a lot. I hate the throttle curve of 2306 but it doesn't have that slight wiggle as much. It still does it however.
KababFPV dang that’s something that would drive me nuts too. I know betaflight 4.0 is out soon. Perhaps that will fix it. Have you been able to figure out if it’s an issue with bf or blheli, or maybe both ?
I could definitely seeing this being an issue for me. Like I definitely do this when I punch out, kill throttle, and pitch forward for like a slow mo looking front flip or something. Man that’s a bummer. Is there any chance it’s per flight controller basis ? I run f4 bardwell
Thinking of buying the 2207 2750kv xing motors.. but the weight is killing me.. question for you... i have a johnnyfpv 2207 2700kv motor and o got.it fro getfpv brand new and i had to get replacement bevause they said that the stator was glues on the base to high.. so when i put the motor bell on the magnets stick out a little further than the stator.. it still spins. But some of thr bell sits alot lower there not like INLINE with eachother.. what would hapen if i attempted to install this motor?
They're straight up copies of the Hyperlite motors so yeah they're good. They come from the same production line because the manufacturer doesn't give a fuck and sells anything to anyone which is why I stopped caring about the lineup. I'm just helping others only.
@@Kabab hope the xing 2208 will go on promo sale for around 15-17$. Do you think that racerstar 35a 6s 4in1 can handle those motors on 6s or I better stay on 4s with them (xing 2208) ?
Xing 2208 is available on BG. It looks like they heard you. On the picture the propshaft on 2208 looks 1-2mm longer than on 2207 so a full height prop nut may be possible instead of the low profile one.
I had some crazy old lady say the same thing to me about my 3" quad while I was flying. I landed and just stared at her until she drove away. I didn't say one word.
I think technically It's pronounced "Shing" because the X sound in Chinese is "Sh" (Like how Xiaomi, the phone company is pronounced "Shaow-me") However, the company that named these might have been intentionally using satiric misspelling of the English onomatopoeia word "Zing" because they know X in English can also make a "Z" sound.
Great video, you just earned a sub! How would you say the Xing 2208s compare to the 2207s in 1800kv? I’m trying to decide between the two for freestyle/cruising with decent flight times.
the slightly taller stator gives you better throttle control. What that means is that as you move the throttle stick it just does a lot more throughout the entire range it feels more meaty. sure it's a little bit more powerful but that's not the point. Even the low ranges from 10 to 20% feel a lot more meaty like they do something and you can really feel the impact of your throttle stick
From what i see you fly 1800kv on a 4s lipo, how it feels? I'm thinking to make the big step and to replace my motors with a low kv...but so fucking expensive to replace all the motors from the 2 quads and buying other lipos..now i have 20lipos all are 4s. I'm thinking for the moment to buy only the motors and to fly with a 4s lipo. Is a good idea Kebab FPV?
Fantastic, dude! Pretty beautiful motors indeed! 😃 Question... For freestyle (with 4s packs - so something around 2400 to 2550kv) what 2207s would you prefer? Those ones or BrotherHobby R6s?
@@MCsCreations I have both R6 and iFlight motors - the R6 are a touch smoother, and they're lighter by a gram... and that's basically it. I'm going to build a pair of visually identical quads with both of those, and odds are I'll struggle to pick a favorite.
Yup, they work pretty well. Really solid flight times, and arguably better proximity flying even after you get other setups. This is still without changing to different props, just running the same ones back to back. I'm also a fan of building my stuff on 6" frames - you can toss on some 6042-3 or 6x4x3 props, run the same 4S battery, and get even better flight time with massive grip, and great cruising speed. If you get a screaming deal on 5S packs (e.g. CHNL 5S 1500mAh 100C's that are $20 right now), those let you do it all with style too.

Dunno. Haven't held one yet. If it's got all the right parts it's likely fine. Look for that hollow 4mm shaft and 9mm bearings with at least reasonably strong curved magnets

Small but genuine question... Why do you always land in hard, rough surfaces when you have grass available right there? I mean yeah... these things aren't made of _high grade cheese™_ (generally) but still.
No they would definitely not be too heavy but I think that most racers prefer the 2207. I don't race but I personally feel a 2306 would be a better option for racing
KababFPV I don't race either, but I want to start this year, so when I saw your review on the Gemfan 5146 and Flywoo motors at the end you mentioned that you really liked the exquisite throttle response on the 2208 when you were flying low so I just assumed they would be more suitable for racing. I would love your advice so I can make the right choice.
@@TuccoBenedicto unfortunately I don't have a whole lot of racing experience but I have raced a little. The vast majority of racers prefer 2207 because it's enough motor for what they're doing. A 2208 is fine but they don't really care about fantastic low throttle feel. The high throttle on a 2207 is about as good as a 2208. The 220X throttle curve is very linear and gradual with no abrupt points throughout. All that being said, I personally feel a 2306 'should' be better suited for racing since it is actually a little more efficient. The throttle curve is annoying because it has an abrupt hump of power at the low end and the top end is a bit squishy but I'd say it's not enough of an issue to matter and the efficiency is a real benefit. I personally think for the vast vast vast majority of tracks today, a 2306 in ~1700kv is the right motor. But again, I don't have a whole lot of racing experience. Also, a 220x motor will be more durable. The 1mm wider makes the motor a lot more susceptible to getting hit. It's not a huge difference but it's been enough for some top go back to 220x. One thing I can say for sure however is that if I did race, I definitely would NOT be spinning $25 motors. I'd go for a sub $17 motor and wouldn't really care about anything that may be lacking about it. Either the rcx or the eachine 2306s. I would definitely run 6S however.
@@Kabab Thank you so much for a really detailed reply. I think I am going to look at the 2306 1700 like you suggested. Shame as I really liked how those Xing looked and for me in the UK they are not quite sub 17 dollars, more like 16 quid, which I felt was reasonable enough. I'd have called em EX-ing too. They are nice, whatever you call em. I'm waiting for the 2208 lineup for my 6" experiments, although the 2207 1700 don't look too awful terrible, a tad high for my taste in KV. 1600-1650 would suit me better, I look to see the 4.XX gm/W down around 22V, but maybe less pitch would make that up? Looking forward to your motor efficiency/control video!

I'm looking to run 4s but I like the idea of being able to jump to 5 or 6s. Do you think that 1800kv would be a good choice or am I looking at this wrong? or would the 2150kv be better? I'm looking for a good balance between power and fly time. I would love to hear your opinion.
@@Kabab Thanks. not really new to fpv but my only experience has been with 3". Way more options when you go to 5" so i am having to learn some new things. so you say to go with the 2306?? i thought you liked the 2208? which one will give me the best balance between fly time and power?? Thank you for your Help.
I made a video specifically about this a short while ago. Search my videos for 'wobble'

The 2207s in around 1800kv perform great on 4S. Similar to 2208 with a tiny bit less control. Of course won't be as fast and powerful as 2600kv on 4s
ok thx for the fast response,. I think I"ll go for 2207s 1800 on a hyperlow cg frame @@Kabab
They do look really good, iFlight should bring out some special edition orange ones with scary faces on them next halloween :)
Oh just wait till you see the ones coming. Really jaw dropping.

I guess you are just going to have to change the tune on your quad so it sings bird songs now if you want to fly in a park. :)
Will be a good test to see what you like best. Please report back.
Ah just when I was getting ready to preorder two sets of the 2208 1800kv
You inspire me Bob.. i wish i could get one of your freestyle frames to put these motors on, they seem to be out of stock everywhere. I refuse to get one of the knock offs that are all over the fleabay sites. I will keep checking the reputable vendors for stock. Any chance of a flosstyle style arm for the reverb frame?
Thnx
I'm producing then myself. I should have them on my site in about 3weeks or less.
How do you feel about the 2208 in 1700kv ? I feel like the lower Kv would help with simulating the low end torque of a 23xx motor.
Please see the description. these motors were based off the brother hobby round motors that came before the TOA I believe.
I've heard mixed reviews but in your opinion, which is a better motor.... The 2206 or 2207 mainly using 4S but may try 5S.
I do not recommend anything less than 2207 for 5". In fact I only recommend 2208 or 2306 for 5" acro. 2207 is suitable for racing but doesn't give you the fine control that a 2208 or 2306 does for acro
Hi do you think the 1700kv version will Last 2 minutes racing with 1000 or 1250 mah battery on 290g build?
I wouldn't use a 1000 to race. 1100 or 1250 is going to fair better usually in a full 2min race. 1700 will last but you still will have trouble holding max max throttle for almost 2min in a race setting. Races are just getting insainely fast.
Great video as always, will you be reviewing any of the lumenier motors in the future?
maybe the Xilo or whatever they're called. I'm really booked for videos at the moment however so I've asked that they wait on that a bit.
i want to see a blackout xing 2208, that would be dope. a blackout motor of any kind would look great
Wouldn't it be zing or shing depending on the language? Is there a language where x can sound like s?
Hey Bob, I just saw the new Hyperlite 2208.5 motors.... Got a video coming? Looks like the 9mm bearing and of course light weight...
Yeah they should be very good. Video may come in time. I'm working on some other things for now 😏
I just got a set of xing 2208 2450kv motors.
KababFPV hey man. What props would you recommend on 2208 2450kv xing motors for freestyle?
How dare you wake the birds up early. :p
Nice review on the motors and well-timed, I was just admiring them last night.
Xing 2207 2450kv do you think 30a with 40a burst can handle these motors. Props are 5046 dal, gemfan flash 5149. Quad dry weight around 280g.
Yes definitely. But give the HQ 5.1x4.1x3 a try too.
@@Kabab thanks man!
If it spins it'll probably be fine. Just a little down on power
The washer reduces the vibration.
Have you had a chance to check out the RDQ motors & if so, what's your take on them.
They're straight up copies of the Hyperlite motors so yeah they're good. They come from the same production line because the manufacturer doesn't give a fuck and sells anything to anyone which is why I stopped caring about the lineup. I'm just helping others only.
How does the 2207 version compare to Sunnysky E-R2207 ?
Because they are about the same price (sunnysky about 1$ cheaper)
I'm not a fan of the sunnysky. It's using less than optimal magnets
The new one might be
I had some crazy old lady say the same thing to me about my 3" quad while I was flying. I landed and just stared at her until she drove away. I didn't say one word.
You mentioned it has to be 1.5mm lamination. Check the height on Xing ;) The 2207 xing motor I have is 0.2 lamination!
Yeah it appears I actually have different versions. .2 .15 and .1. I'm gonna compare between them soon
I think technically It's pronounced "Shing" because the X sound in Chinese is "Sh" (Like how Xiaomi, the phone company is pronounced "Shaow-me")
However, the company that named these might have been intentionally using satiric misspelling of the English onomatopoeia word "Zing" because they know X in English can also make a "Z" sound.
It's someone's name. He told me it's ssing. I'll go with it because I'm an idiot that says Xing 😅
@@Kabab Wow, thanks. Sounds like the way to go, especially for freestyle. Do you think there's any significant difference in efficiency ?
@@PatternRecognizer in this case it's actually more efficient as long as you're not max stick all the time.
Have you tried the MB Primo 2208 1750kv? Only 32g with short wires.
Please see the video description
Sorry... I'm not a fanboy, I haven't even tried them. I was just wondering cos you seem to like 2208.
Yes. I'd recommend it. 4S definitely isn't a power house but it's absolutely not bad at all. You can see it's plenty flyable
Will you review the bbb 2207 pro 1750kv?
probably not. They're good motors however
Good review. These motors seem low on efficiency, if I’m reading the data correctly. 2s & 3s not shown, maybe it kicks in there?
Fantastic, dude! Pretty beautiful motors indeed! 😃
Question... For freestyle (with 4s packs - so something around 2400 to 2550kv) what 2207s would you prefer? Those ones or BrotherHobby R6s?
4S I prefer 2450kv and a 580g AUW. That AUW is very critical for maximum performance. Otherwise 2500-2600kv for overall general 4S performance.
@@Kabab Sure, but... The Xing motors or BH R6?
@@MCsCreations I have both R6 and iFlight motors - the R6 are a touch smoother, and they're lighter by a gram... and that's basically it. I'm going to build a pair of visually identical quads with both of those, and odds are I'll struggle to pick a favorite.

3:58 How do you get that nice flat (no tilt) orbit?
pitch in more and yaw rather than roll
When is the frame gonna be out? It's been like 63929638 years
Hopefully within a month.
So if I get some of these 2208 1800kv Can I run them on 4s and be happy until I change my battery stock to 6s?
Absolutely. As you saw, I was running 4S for a whole very long 5min flight
If only the bird lady could fly like a bird she would understand :D Great job as always Kebab...looking forward to all things flos 2019! Prettige feesten from Belgium! Low noise motors would be kinda kewl but than again birds can be straight annoying too.

Thanks for yet another really informative vid. Would you say these motors are too heavy for a 6s 5" race build?
This will be my first race and 6s build too so I am trying to get as much info as poss before I put the order in, thankfully your reply really helped me as I had the 2208 1800 in my basket =)
