This is one of the most beautiful confections I've ever seen. It took my breath away! Stunning! It's funny because I loathe baked apple but the chopped apple in this was never baked, it's still fresh and crunchy! So I would just love to try this. It looks delicious. And thank you SO MUCH for cutting it open at the end 😍.

It could be fennel. I would still question the taste. Thinking licorice nor pickles pair with apple.🤷♀️

Could it be fennel? They look very similar, it’s hard to tell. Fennel would give a tiny bit of licorice/aniseed taste, and it compliments apples very well 🍏 I’m so curious to know how it tastes!

@@-Reagan You’re most likely right. Fennel goes well with apple in some desserts, both the bulb and the fronds. The fronds have a slightly milder & greener (herbal?) flavor so better for delicately flavored desserts like this one seems to be.

@@DreamBelief ok yeah I have tried to find them in Adelaide but the only shop that used to sell them in town Adelaide closed when COVID started and on the door there was a sign saying that they might open another store but not in Adelaide in Victor habour which is 5/6 hours drive from me and I don't have a car or any way of checking if they have a store there. We mainly only have grocery stores not bakery's like these ones but I definitely won't stop looking

Another commentor said it could be fennel. In this quantities dill would ruin every other taste because it is so strong. Plus, it really doesn't fit with apple.
@@rauchschwalbelp7693 Yes, fennel has a licorice or aniseed flavor that goes well with apple. The fronds taste milder than the bulbs.

I used to go to a bakery in Canberra (Australia) that made these kinds of cakes before covid. I'll definitely have to go back. I miss the weird and wonderful (and delicious) cakes. Kinda surprising we have something like this in what is quite a small place. They change them frequently. My favourite was a bomb shaped cake that even came with a sparkler, and an orange mousse cake (I've had the apple ones but prefer orange)

Wow...so the secret is frozen cream with extra layers of butter and chopped apples in frozen sugar water with extra extra sugar and mash it up in a thick layer of heavy cream + butter plus some additional heavy cream and butter and finish off with caramel sugar syrup on top.
In other this is a diabetes/heart attack/stroke sandwich special. I'm sure cardiologists and hospital emergency rooms would be proud!
