  • I review my 2017 Hyundai Ioniq electric car, and discuss what I like and what I don't like about it, before bringing it out for a road test.

I don’t know what kind of socket you have at home, but I charge my Ioniq at home on a regular RCD-protected 16A socket, and it only takes 7 hours (so overnight), not 16 hours 😂 . Don’t forget to change your charging settings to charge at max rate. 👋🏻

Thank you for a good review of this car been trying to find a review for an owner and not some car reporters.

The black plastic box to the left in the engine compartment is the heat pump valves and stuff.
I have this exact car in the same colour and I absolutely love it, if it had twice the battery and could haul a trailer I would keep it forever.
It is also by far the most efficient EV you can drive, I am waiting for newer cars with comparable or better efficiency but that is not happening.
I might wait a few years more and buy the Aptera if it gets to Europe someday. It's the only EV that will do about 50% better than the Ioniq.
I think I will keep it a long time though as the newer cars that can haul a trailer are 3 times the cost, I can rent a van many times for that kind of money.

To reset the trip counter on a 2017 Hyundai Ioniq Electric, follow these steps:
    Turn on the car's ignition.
    Locate the instrument cluster display.
Push and hold the "Trip" button on the right side of the cluster until the display changes.
Release the button when the display shows "Trip A" and "Trip B".
Push the "Trip" button again until the desired trip counter (Trip A or Trip B) is displayed.
Push and hold the "Reset" button located below the display until the counter resets to zero.
    Release the "Reset" button.
    There you go Ross :))

Brilliant review Ross, I was quite impressed with the Ioniq Hybrid I drove a couple of years back.

The rear view isn't that bad, the Vauxhall Ampera was similar but without a reversing camera. I love my Ioniq.

It does not use the air conditioning to act as a heater. Along the left there is an actual heat pump. Two separate things. The heat pump is used up to given temperature, after which it switches to the resistance based heating which it also has.

I have an Ioniq 28 KWH Electric vehicle. While attempting to charge my car through AC, the connection failed, and the car did not receive a charge. I encountered the same issue with CCS, despite the cable appearing to be in good condition. It was successfully charging just two days ago. What could be the issue?

You sure you haven't got a timer set on it? I got caught out by that in the past myself.

I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't take 2.8/3kw. Yea sure the last few % might drop a little bit you should be charging much faster than that. Even my ma's 24kw leaf does on the granny.

It is a sound to warn people that something is coming. (there is no engine noise to warn them)

If it takes you 16 hours to charge at 3kw it must have a very big battery.

    • @Endfloat
      @Endfloat  Год назад +2

It doesn't pull the full 3kw from the socket. It's a 28kwh battery.
